And now I shall also leave for work and hopefully find out my fate today (if anything). If I don't it will drive me crazy all night

That explains the sucking up to you

In my view with what you have said, I would place the blame on management, not the staff... plain and simple, it should have been brought up in a standard morning meeting...

Any news?

With shift work, people come and go all day, a morning meeting won't reach everyone. Memo should have been posted in back, by the time clock on a wall or board. Regardless, the only ones to blame are the criminals, the incident with the memo is unfortunate for all the employees involved, but the blame game doesn't benefit anyone.

Is it just me, or does that excerpt from that post of mine have terrible grammar? That is what happens when I try to write a post at 6:30 AM after getting 5.5 hours of sleep 5 nights in a row.

WHAT DID YOU DO TO IT??

They don't just do that on their own!

Hhhh.... my search for appropriate parts for my massive quadcopter project continues. I now know what digital transceiver for control/telemetry, flight controller, base station, ESCs, motors, props, optical flow sensor, ultrasonic sensor and IMU I'll be using. I just have to work out what FPV transmitter, FPV receiver, prop spinners, frame, power distributer, flight battery, FPV battery, FPV camera, voltage monitor and GPS module to use 'Tis gonna be super awesome when all the parts come, though, and I'm actually succeeding in finding suppliers IN AUSTRALIA for all the parts so far!

EDIT: Oops, forgot I wasn't on the last page. Wow, Yodaman, that's some story! I sincerely hope those scammers get caught before they make off with all that money!

Incidentally, in Australia we can claim unfair dismissal if we believe our employer fired us unfairly. I've never done it, but I'd imagine it'd be a fair amount of trouble to go to.

Hey everybody!

I see this thread gets a lot of action, so I came here with a simple request.

Will some of you guys/gals please play my game "6 Marbles", which is a WIP in the AppGameKit Showcase forum???

I hope I do not sound impatient, BUT...
The wait for someone to try it out has taken more time than I spent making the demo of the game.

Thanks in advance for your feedback...

I tried it, but it seemed difficult to use with a regular computer! Perhaps I was doing something incorrectly.

Ok, my biggest piece of feedback - and I'm stressing this pretty strongly - is link. Link EVERYTHING. Seriously. People are lazy. If you want them to do ANYTHING, link. ALWAYS. Notice my sig. It's FULL of links (in fact, everything in it is a link). When I make a post and say something like, "...you know how I said that in my other post...", the phrase "in my other post" would be linked directly to said post. I can't stress this enough. LINKS ARE YOUR FRIENDS.

As for actually playing it... sorry, my internet is seriously CRAP right now (I can honestly BARELY load a webpage, let alone stay connected long enough to download anything), so maybe later

Ohhh, interesting. I built a tricopter about a month ago and it's awesome. Im looking into buying some FPV gear but im having trouble finding good hardware in Sweden. Here is my build log of the tricopter

I have been working on an arduino based GPS tracker for it the last few days.

What parts are you planning on using for your quad?

My store manager had the day off yesterday, so I didn't learn anything. However, certain managers at the store said they thought I would be fine because I followed procedure to the letter, and no one seemed mad at me yesterday (not that they were mad in the first place, but still), so I think I'm going to be OK. Otherwise I am part of a Union here so if I need to I will put a call in to the local rep and see what they have to say.

But I'm pretty sure I'll be mostly ok. I'll probably just a get stern lecture about "ways to tell" if someone is a scam artist and that'll be it (so says my store's assistant manager).

=========================================

I found out yesterday, though, that on the same day I realized the gift card sales were a scam, one of my coworkers who was pregnant suddenly went into labor and the poor child didn't make it... It made me feel terrible for worrying so much about myself, over something as stupid as a gift card sale, when she had to go through something that horrible. I feel just awful for her.

=========================================
With how much is going on I don't foresee finishing my NaGaCreMo entry as my next day off isn't until Friday and I'm dead tired and work another almost 8-hour shift today.

My store manager was in today and this is what he said: "Don't worry, you'll be fine!" as I walked past and greeted him on my way to the time clock. I gave him a surprised look as a response and he said "It happens, things will work out one way or the other" and then smiled, so I take it I'm off the hook.

Clonkex, I don't know what anybody would do to stop the scammers - they are apparently a huge ring that's recently come into light, nation wide, hitting multiple stores and franchises. They surely will get busted soon as their faces are now plastered all over, but they are probably already out of my humble little town (Janesville)and headed to Canada... I don't have access to the police report (obviously), but from what it looks like one ring started in the south, hit our particular brand and franchise name, traveled north, and are continuing to travel north. Another section started somewhere in the east. I really wonder what they could be up to?

One good thing in all this - I now know what it's like to be scammed face-to-face, and will DEFINITELY know when it's happening again. Everybody at work has my back (including three of seven MODs and the store manager and co-manager directly), so it looks like I won't get demoted. *phwew*

Good grief what a week. And to think I was worried about Breakout physics not working earlier

Still don't have it working 100% though, I think it's because of the way GetSpriteCollision() works (or, rather, doesn't work). And I think there's some odd glitches happening when nesting if-statements, the elseif command doesn't seem to register 50% of the time and thus the ball operates incorrectly. I tried making it so that if it detected the ball was inside of a brick it would delete it then, but somehow that didn't work... will try another way in a bit, have to cool down from work.

Oh, and yes, I do indeed live in Wisconsin. Now you know my town and state, I'll bet someone could figure out where I work even

Still not 100% sure, they're still investigating. The leading theory is that they will show their real ID along with their real credit card, and then as they are about to make the payment they quickly switch the cards to the fraudulent ones. They wear long sleeves so it's very feasible they hide the fake cards up there while shopping and have some sort of quick-release system. Kind of like magicians will hide playing cards up their sleeves. Security footage shows that they tend to keep their hands at odd angles (which can't be seen from behind the Service Counter) while making the payment, and turn their hands ever so slightly. But the footage is low-res (in 2015 this is FLIPPING RIDICULOUS, should be all footage is at least 720i/720p) and hard to see clearly.

But other than that, I have no idea. It seems weird that they would show their real ID along with their real credit cards, so everybody thinks they're also fake IDs. But Everybody who has been scammed in our chain has said the IDs looks 100% genuine, and if they're fake, they're damn good ones to have fooled so many people. The IDs are dated from a couple years ago and look the age, the numbers all match up, the DOB and pictures do not look modified in any way, there's no signs of tampering along the edges of the card, etc.,.

They are absolute professionals and it terrifies me that they fooled me so easily. Thank God I checked all of the IDs (even if they are fake), if I hadn't I'd for sure be out of the job.

In which way are the cards fraudulent? Why does the system not just reject the card - is there no authentication? Is this not the bank's liability?

The system will sometimes reject the card, but they switch numbers all the time and won't use the same card twice - if they buy the numbers from the right place (black market and all that), they will work. That's what is so scary about this - how easy it is to bypass known security measures.

But hey, I have exciting news regarding my Breakout clone thingy... am uploading a video showing/detailing. Will post soon!

My favourite breakout game of all time is without a doubt BreakQuest:

There's no other breakout game I've seen that is this much fun. You've got cool weapons, cool powerups, beautiful music, innovative level designs, and solid physics.

Skip ahead to 06:01 to see one example of a cool physics level.

WARNING! LONG POST AHEAD! Read for funnies!

Oh good grief, thank God last week is over. Let me tell you yet another fun story from work that happened yesterday!

First of all, it was a slow day, because the Green Bay Packers were up against the Seattle Seahawks and everybody stayed home to watch it, so business was practically non-existent. We were way overstaffed but didn't want to cut any hours in case the Packers won, because then everybody would be out to celebrate. Yes it is that big a deal up here, apparently.

Anyway, a while after the game (Seahawks won), business picks up a tad bit. One of my coworkers is done with her shift so she clocks out, has her jacket on and everything. No visible sign she works at the store.

This lady comes in, and tries to get in one of our electric carts. She can't figure out how to operate it so one of my grocery baggers runs over to help her (he is also off the clock, waiting for his ride home). She about runs him down, turns around, and almost runs into my other coworker and demands to know where our cooking sherry is. She tells her it's down aisle 3 and the woman demands her to show her. My coworker (we'll call her Karen) said "OK, well, I have to go down there for my stuff anyway so just follow me!" and leads her right to it.

Karen and the customer come back up to the Service Counter, where I am training Sharon (another pseudonym) on how to get ready to close the desk for the night. The woman demands to know where our sweet potatoes are. I pointed her in the direction of the Produce Section and made it very clear I was in the middle of helping my coworker, but in a polite way of course. Karen sneaks off at this point (good on her!), and the woman demanded to know where she was. I told her she was off the clock and going home and that REALLY pissed her off. So she demanded I take her back to the Produce Section, and rather than argue I conceded (BIG mistake), so I gladly took her back there and showed her right where the sweet potatoes were.
"Where's your ORGANIC option?" she demanded in a really irritated tone, while backing up in that cart and practically running me over. I told her we unfortunately do not have organic sweet potatoes, but that I would go check with my manager anyway. I told her to go ahead and wait right there and look around for the other stuff she needed from that section and I set off to the back. I found another manager who knew produce better than I did and she said we absolutely do not carry it, and she offered to come out and help me. I warned that within the minute I've been helping this woman she was irritated with me and about ran me over.

Anyway, we both get back to the Produce Section and told her we unfortunately did not have organic sweet potatoes. She glared at us and said something like "Well you NEED to carry them, that's why I came out here tonight, I'm TRYING to make this glazed turkey dinner", then demanded to know where "the Hell [our] organic celery" was. She then floored the pedal on the cart BACKWARDS, didn't look at us at all, my manager literally had to leap out of the way, stepping on my foot in the process, and I had to catch her from falling into the apple display. The woman just smiled and repeated her question. My manager stares at me and says "Wow!", and the woman repeats herself again. I am seething at this point and wanted to smack the woman in the face, but instead point out the organic celery. She then asks me to go find something else for her. I considered using that opportunity to disappear entirely, but unfortunately I decided to continue to help her out.

I go and find the other thing she needs and bring it back, where she's yelling at my manager about the prices of organic vs. non-organic (very reasonable at our store, but she didn't care). She floors the cart again, backwards, and I jump out of the way. Instead of saying thank you, she demanded to know where a good liquor store was around here. I pointed her in the direction of our liquor section (which is a separate department because my city has weird ordinances like that), and she said she had already been in there and we didn't have anything that she needed. She needed White Zinfandel wine which I knew we ABSOLUTELY had, and told her I had literally just seen it in there 20 minutes ago. She argued with me so I called the liquor department. The clerk in there told me she hadn't been in and yes, we did have White Zinfandel. Rather than ask me to show her to it she demanded I point her in the direction of yet another store. In no way was I going to tell her about other stores around here, instead I lied, saying ours was the closest and best deals. She told me she was going to find someone who knew what the [censored] they were talking about, and I just looked at her, stared at her, wanting to throttle her , and I just said "OK then", and walked off.

I was so freaking mad I went to the back, where I found my overnight manager arriving for the night. I told him what all was going on and he laughed at how crazy everything was. I thought I was done dealing with her and went back out to go back to training, and encountered another customer who had a quick question. We didn't have the item she needed so I offered to write her a raincheck. As I'm doing so, I hear the other customer come up and she about RAN ME DOWN and started yelling at me about our lack of Cornmeal. I tell her where it is and then she demanded I move out of her way. I just said "Well if you give me one second I'm helping this lady out and can move out of your way once I'm done" (there was nowhere for me to go since a shelf was back to me) and she huffed and puffed and MOVED THE CART closer to me and did a fake smile. I said "WOW! OK THEN!" practically yelling at her which prompted the other customer to bust her gut laughing, and electric cart lady floored it to the other aisle. I apologized to the other customer and she just laughed some more and apologized that I had to help the other lady.

As I'm FINALLY back on my way to the Service Counter (it's 15 whole minutes later at this point), I hear a big sound come from one of the aisles. We had a display set up and she KNOCKED IT DOWN because she wasn't paying any attention to where she was going. I shook my head, and continued back on my way to the desk anyway. I was going to page "cleanup in aisle 4" when she took off like a bat out of hell through the front doors, her cart full and nothing paid for. I called my liquor department and asked if they had seen her - she went in to finally grab her White Zinfandel. I told my clerk out there those groceries were NOT paid for and she needed to come back in. I also paged my manager on duty so that he was aware of the situation. I was actually hoping that she WOULD steal those items so that we could bust her and ban her from the store. I completely forgot about the mess in Aisle 4 she had created.

She comes back in (after arguing with the liquor clerk that a yellow-tinted bottle of WHITE Zinfandel wasn't actually white, but YELLOW Zinfandel), and ffter speeding up to the desk and running into another customer (without even apologizing), she rudely interrupts and says "HEY! HEY! HEY! I ran over that stupid display in aisle 4, go clean it up", and then waits for a response. I stared at her, unblinking, wanting to rip her off of the cart and throw her ass out the door, but instead I just looked to the girl I was training, who was trying really hard not to laugh, and I just said "Oh, Ok! OK! OK. OK? OK. OKAY!" in a very dismissive manner and walked behind the desk, where I started literally bashing my fist into the counter, and realizing I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

And then... it was over. I didn't hear a peep from her and we finished closing the desk, it was 45 minutes later and I was off the clock, doing my personal shopping. And then...

...I heard the cart.

I ran to the opposite side of the store, and heard it again. She was chasing me. She must have seen that I had clocked out and must have wanted to harass me. I run in back and hide for a few minutes where I run into my manager on duty again. I use the phone back there to call ahead to the lanes and asked them to call me back when she was checking out. They called two minutes later to say so, so I waited another five minutes to be sure, and went out with my stuff to go and pay for it. There's a HUGE line. She was standing there, arguing with the cashier about prices, and was punishing her by paying for all of it in change. It was like $40 in quarters and dimes. I couldn't believe it. Thankfully my manager came and opened another lane temporarily so I checked out with him. once I was done, I pulled my hood up, put on my gloves, and ran past the other lane and out of the store, because I thought for sure that lady was going to chase me out.

I finally feel relaxed and am in the entry way of the store. I walk past the liquor department which was closing for the night, and this guy starts pounding on the door about how it's early to close and blah blah blah. I thought he was going to break the door down. I run and use another phone to call my clerk in there and she said it was all ok, but I still waited outside the door, making sure she saw me and I nodded at her to show that I would be ready to help if needed. He comes out, shouting about how the Packers lost, and then said God Bless for letting him in and then he patted me on the shoulder. I flinched and took a step back and just stared at him, he laughed and I made eye contact with the clerk in there. She shrugged, locked the door, and I went home, fuming about this whole damn night and wanting so very badly to forget the whole thing.

And that, ladies and gents, is the story of Crazy-Insane Electric Cart Lady and Not-Drunk-But-Dumb and Demanding Guy ruined my entire day in the span of about an hour. The woman haunted me in my dreams last night, I'm not joking. I dreamed she was chasing me down the aisles, trying to run me over and hit me with her purse.

If I ever see her again I will do my best to find something on her and get her banned from the store. Destroying displays (and thus store property) is almost good enough already. I hope she ruined her dinner by putting too much sherry in it.

Wow that was a long post

How was she not banned from the store? It sounds to me like she tried to steal the groceries, ran down atleast one display stand and ran down another customer, then went on to harass you.

Looks like there's no way to contact the creators of BreakQuest. I can't find the names of any of the devs, let alone their e-mails, and it looks like the e-mails sent to [email protected] haven't been looked at for years.

Hover is fun lol and Multiplayer even!

That assassins creed game is epic! go to settings and change the weather and click back!!! WOW! swipe around to change the cameras viewpoint!!!

I hope TGC have a trick up their sleeve for AGKv2 like that for web publishing... FE died too soon for not very clear reasons if I am honest... can someone point out the reason if it was other than lack of resources on TGC side?

Oh cool! Nice tricopter!

Quote: "What parts are you planning on using for your quad?"

Ok, well, it's a big list, but I'll give you a slightly-modified screenshot of my table All parts are bought and coming in the mail! I'll do a separate thread with a proper build log when all the parts get here. Here's the list (prices are in AUD, total cost was slightly higher than displayed here due to some missed postage costs):

The ESCs are MASSIVELY overpowered for the motors, but it means I can easily upgrade my motors in future without worrying about changing the ESCs. I'm going to write the flight controller myself. Total weight will be about 1.5kg, which means each motor needs to produce about 750g of thrust for a 2:1 thrust/weight ratio. Very rough calculations suggest the flight time will be 15 minutes (which may turn out to be rather optimistic with 980Kv motors). One of my flight time calculations said 25min flight time, but that sounded extremely optimistic so I ditched that calculation

I intend to control the quad via a digital serial connection from my PC with DBPro and a joystick and/or Xbox360 controller. The quad will also send telemetry data back to the PC. Because the serial connection won't have anywhere near the bandwidth to send the FPV signal digitally, it'll be sent with a separate analogue transmitter, via an analogue receiver to a TV (or monitor with AV-in). Ultimately I want to be able to combine the telemetry and FPV data into a digital signal that I can do what I like with on my PC (i.e. display the FPV signal with telemetry data overlaid on top).

In terms of legality of this flying piece of awesome... I've done a lot of research on this:

I will be using 915MHz for the control/telemetry transceivers. 915-928MHz is legal for use in Australia even if you don't have an amateur radio license as long as the power doesn't exceed 1W (my transceivers are 100mW) and has frequency hopping of no less than 50 channels (my transceivers meet that requirement).

I'll be using 2.4GHz for the FPV signal. 2.4GHz signals with analogue modulation (which mine are) can be used up to 1W (my transmitter is 500mW) for telemetry or telecommand; it's a bit of a grey area, but I think FPV falls under telecommand

Now, about FPV in Australia... it's massive grey area. If you went to court over something FPV-related, you could almost certainly lawyer your way out of it. Heaps of people fly FPV in Australia, but the vast majority do it a long way away from populated areas and are very careful and safe about the whole thing... and that's what I intend to do. I already live in the middle of nowhere with no one else around for miles (that's an exaggeration - we have neighbours on one side, but they're 500+ metres away and drunks - I have no intention whatsoever of going anywhere near there horrifically messy back yard), so it's pretty much impossible for me to fly over any kind of populated area

The height limit for quads in Australia is 400ft. I have no plans of going that high, if only for the simple fact that that's REALLY high up if one of the motors cuts out

It's the fact that they're hitting so many stores so quickly that they'll be caught. Someone will make a mistake and the police will be ready and waiting.

WOW that WAS a long post!! Three things: 1) I got so angry reading that post and just wanted to grab that woman by the scruff of her neck and chuck her out the door; 2) You have WAAAAY better control over your temper; I would precariously balanced a big tin of rice bran oil on a high shelf behind her, then stood behind her so she tried run me over but instead got hit on the head with a big tin of oil; 3) What the heck is an electric cart??

I wouldn't have either. Doing that would have been exactly what she wanted.

That moment when... I realize something so familiar to me is naught but a product of the low standards of American society.

Sorry Clonkex, I am just reflecting on the wonderful society that I live in! What I just wrote ^^^ will make more sense when you know what an electric cart is.

I think it's pretty nice that they provide motorized carts for the elderly.

I just googled it... wow I've never seen a single supermarket in Australia provide gophers! (common name for those things in Australia is a gopher - presumably there is/was a brand name Go-For?)

You have a good point -- the problem is, you don't see those carts the way most Americans do, which is totally understandable, since you don't live here. When I, an American, go to just about any store, maybe 1 in 5 people riding those electric carts are elderly. The rest are people who are generally very obese, probably mid 20s to 40s, fully capable of walking, and yet too lazy to do so. Do I have any other Americans on here to confirm this for me?

Heck, this is in Colorado, the least obese state (or one of) in the nation.

That looks nice clonex, writing a custom flight controlller sounds like an interesting project but I don't think I know enough maths/physics to do it

I have finally found a swedish store that sells FPV gear so I will probably buy some of that soon, perhaps when the snow melts. Unfortunley the only legal frequency without a ham license in Sweden is 5.8ghz which has relativley low penetrating power and 2.4 which I use for my flight radio.
