Looks like a nice quad, seems like an ambitious project indeed.

Also, I think the metal washer that you have on top of the prop is supposed to be below it, that's how I mounted it atleast.

Propper mount

Mount of the prop where the cone thingy flew away. I use 1 regular nut and one lock nut to prevent the regular one from falling off

I have also sucessfully snow proofed my tricopter.

I 3d printed a canopy for the electronics aswell as some flat landingears which are to small to land in snow The motors are waterproof by default and I used some electrical tape to protect the ESCs.

A tri-copter? Wouldn't you have torque imbalances, since you'll have two motors spinning in one direction while having only one motor spin in the other direction?

Yep, and to get around that you have a servo on the back motor to tilt it. You don't rely on the counter rotating props at all that way but it's more efficient to run 2 rotating one way and one rotating the other.

You can see the servo and tilt mechanism in the first picture I posted.

Also, someone was trying to use a RC hexacopter to transport drugs into the US across the mexican border and crashed. Latin times posted this...

It's the eigth image on google when you search for drone. But, half of the ones before it are of multicopters. I have no idea how a news outlet can even make that misstake, especially since most other articles about the same thing have pictures of the actual 'drone' that was used.

You could just have two spinning relatively slowly in one direction, while another is spinning psycho fast in the opposite direction.

Well sure, but then you would need to find props with diffirent pitch. And if you wanted to yaw, you would probably also move in the roll/pitch direction

See, that doesn't make sense to me. Why have the washer underneath the prop? If you put it on top, it provides a larger area for the nut to hold onto the prop. Then again, your collet-style adapters also had the washer, and the collets are no smaller than the washer so the washer would provide no benefit on top.

And I can find no help whatsoever on this subject. It's as if everyone is just expected to know these things...

FINALLY! After 11 long, long, LONG days of hectic and stupid work, I am free to do as I please tomorrow! I shall sleep, sleep and sleep some more, followed by more sleep, and then a bunch of game-playing, namely Civ 5 since I got that for Christmas!

I was so tired last night I passed out when I got home and slept until 930 this morning, and I think it might happen again tonight

So you're trading lift for torque. It sounds like it would be a little hard to keep that balanced, especially during events such as increasing the throttle drastically: You'd have to immediately compensate by twisting the back motor, but that causes you to lose lift again...

Yea, im glad the flight controller does it autmatically

I don't really see why a quad would be simpler though, you still have the poblem of all the rotors influencing each other just in a diffirent way.

Quads are probably one of the simplest and stablest designs out there.

- Torque compensation is already solved, simply because there are two motors spinning in one direction and two spinning in the other direction.
- Throttle is achieved by increasing/decreasing all four motor speeds.
- Yaw is achieved by slowing down two opposing motors while speeding up the two other opposing motors.
- Pitch and roll are achieved by speeding up one motor and slowing down the opposing motor.

[EDIT] Damn these optical illusion levels in BreakQuest are confusing, it's really hard to keep track of the ball.

Well, now that I got the ball physics working in my game, I seem to have lost all motivation for continuing.

It's not that I don't want to finish it, it's that I am just so worn out from trying to figure things out with a sleep-deprived brain for so long. Work has really gotten in the way of this and it's just insane how far behind I am of where I wanted to be by now.

That and I have another idea for a project (well, it's the same idea I've had for a while now) that is infinitely more exciting, because it easily could become a trilogy of games and would be so much fun to make. Let's just say Conkers is a massive inspiration!

The only way I've found to deal with a lack of motivation is to just get on with it - use paper to write down what you need to do and how, if you need to. Once you get started the motivation will come back.

I don't know what happened but somehow Dropbox failed to sync and now my project file is corrupted.

That's ok though, as I was going to re-program a good chunk of it anyway. I need to design it with modularity in mind, and make it so that the game can process each level in a single update function.

I shall crack my knuckles and get going!

Basically, the old email address I had used to sign up years ago somehow became impossible to log in to, which also screwed up my facebook account. Luckily I had a backup email address so I contacted support and got my account details switched over, but they wouldn't let me use it for another month after that. Facebook was easy to fix but for some reason Skype didn't like the new email. I tried to create another account, but of course the email was already used since I switched my account over to it. Big pain the butt.

I certainly recognise your name, but don't know of anything you've done, per se

Hooray! We're having hamburgers and crinkle-cut chips for tea! And of course, since this is Australia and not America, the hamburgers will have meat patties (I believe you Americans call the patty the "burger"...?), lettuce, beetroot and BBQ sauce on them. Some of us (not me) will also have tomato and processed cheese. Making me hungry just thinking about them!

Now I'm gonna play the original Ghost Recon with my brother and sisters!

Ah, well I've heard Americans call the patty the burger quite a lot. And ours will be homemade

ALSO: In Australia, when refueling your car, you can't lock the pump handle and get back in the car. Apparently it's quite normal to get back in the car in America. True? It seems utterly strange to me that anyone would even think of walking away from the bowser whilst it's in use!

I get hamburgers with strawberry jelly, marshmallow sauce, and Nutella on a fried turkey patty, typically. Most restaurants don't serve this as a default item, but some restaurants do have the ingredients and are willing to make one for a pretty tip.

Yes haha, I didn't realise you didn't call them fuel bowsers! We also don't call it "pumping gas", not least because we don't call fuel "gas", we call it fuel or petrol. I've heard some Americans refer to all fuels as "gas", regardless if it's actually petrol, diesel or LPG. LPG is the only thing we call "gas", and it's normally just called LPG (liquid petroleum gas)

How much do you pay for fuel in your state? Over here (in NSW Australia) it tends to be in the $1.50/L to $1.70/L (because of course we measure fuel in litres, not gallons )?

Oh good grief, that means you spend anywhere from $5.67 to $6.43 per gallon in USD.

I'm not gonna lie guys, I have lost all motivation for my NaGaCreMo project. I thought I would spend the majority of yesterday programming it, but I just couldn't, and unfortunately during my attempt to force myself too, something happened, I forgot to save I guess, and the project file was corrupted. I tried to restart the project but re-doing all of that work is just too intimidating at the moment.

And besides, I have a much better idea for a game anyway, as mentioned previously. It will use Unity and support all kinds of different platform, though it will mainly be targeted for the web. Picture a 2.5D platformer with all kinds of ridiculously corny and punny action, and you'll see why I want to develop that instead

The prices have been all over the board in the past few years, and they are currently dropping super fast. Where I live right now, around $1.70 USD/gallon, which would be about $0.57 Australian dollars per liter. And yes, there was a time when us Americans complained about that price. Right now we are happy with it, since it used to be well over double that.

I found this video to be relevant:

EDIT Lol I didn't actually notice the video MV linked before I posted, but I guess that makes this video even more relevant.
