That's a good point I've gotten the hang of flying his quad so it shouldn't be an issue. It's good to see that there are a lot of resources on custom quadcopter construction across the web.

Hey github peoples, have a question:

how do I go about this, I'm sure it is simpler than it seems...

Say there is a base project,

Person 1 has forked this project then created branches 1A, 1B, and 1C

Person 2 has forked this project then created branch 2A

Person 2 wants to fork Person 1's branch 1B as a new branch 2B in his own fork, such that 2B can fetch and merge and pull request back to 1B.

bonus question, once this is set up, is 2B also able to fetch/merge/pull req back to the original base master?

@Ortu

Yes, that's possible. The following should work but I haven't tried it.

Person 2 first needs to create a new remote pointing to Person 1 and change the push URL to the repository of person 2:

Next, he needs to create the branch 2B in his own fork and set it to track the remote branch defined above. Important: It matters from which branch you execute this command, since git will branch away from the current branch you're on. In other words, run this on the same branch person 1's 2B branch was branched from, namely the base project:

Making pull requests should be self explanatory on github.com.

Hmm, Pushed Electronics back to end of 2015, but depending on how the year goes, I may join you guys just spent a small fortune on my new monitor, otherwise could have been on the scene already ^^

Stats:

1080p [Finally back to 16:9 ratio 16:10{2048x1152} was a pain]
10 point multi-touch [Have a Surface Pro 2, so this is extra lovely!]
27" [Largest on a decent price I could find with 10 point touch capability...]

And yes! it is glorious for work/coding!

Was a dead link earlier

Anybody else playing Life is Strange? a lot of the techniques in the game are evident, but the branching storyline and events are intriguing...

Also the game guilt trips you with every decision lol

Uh, so the FBI and Homeland Security are currently in my town, investigating something. They say nothing dangerous is going on, but... I'm not inclined to believe that really.

They're at a house not too far away from my neighborhood and are stripping it, searching every crevice. The poor people who were renting it had to be removed, they're likely not involved with anything going on, someone is speculating that a murder happened and the body may be hidden somewhere there.

And they say nothing interesting ever happens

Just submitted my UK Tax return. The system is on the cutting edge of technology, they even forewarned me that it could take over 9 minutes to download a copy of my return.

By Broadband, I calculated they did their sums for a 256Kbps connection.

Awesome! They're SUPER fun to build, but let me give you a really important warning: DON'T, under ANY circumstances, decide to program the flight controller yourself! You would not BELIEVE the struggles I've had getting my Arduino to behave. And not because the Arduino has anything wrong with it, just because there's a huge lack of important information on the subjects surrounding controlling a quadcopter with an Arduino... things like the fact that the SoftwareSerial library won't play nice with the SoftwareServo library without enormous effort.

Meh. It'll be super cool when it's finished, but I'm totally not sure going the DIY flight-controller and digital serial control route will have been worth it. I've been working non-stop for literally days on this and it's still not ready to fly. I mean, I've been making progress, slowly, but I have other things I need to do. I can't spend all my time on this one project. If I can sort out a safe solution to the common ground issue I'm having at the moment, and if I can make the serial and servo libraries cooperate, and if my algorithms for maintaining balance and accepting controller input actually work, maybe it will get off the ground tomorrow... but even then, it'll be tethered.

I saw a video of someone who was working on a custom hexacopter flight controller. He had been working for 8 months and it wasn't ready yet

I got my FPV gear 2 days ago and finally got to take it out for a flight today. I managed to fly through 3.5 batteries before I crashed into a tree and broke an arm. Guess I have to wait for a replacement now

Actually, that was his original plan, but he realized quickly it wasn't worth it He switched to a complete Arduino library. I'm going to get one of the cheaper flight controllers that are pretty popular. I don't really need anything too fancy in that department

I've been doing a lot of quadcopter research online before getting going. Once I get my parts list down I'll start up a new thread to document everything along the way and for other quad people

Lastly I'm pretty sure the ban on FPV is still in progress in the United States. There's been quite a movement against it but I don't think any of it has been set in stone. I'll just avoid that department for the time being

I was under the impression that PAE expanded the memory addressable by the OS as a whole, but not an individual application. I'm probably wrong though.

I was thinking something like that. I plan on buying some plastic beads today, which small strings should slide through pretty easily. Lubrication as well would be good.

Another issue I run into is tying strong and reliable knots in exact correct positions.

Quad component selection has taken me much longer than I expected, but I have finally decided on this frame. I didn't want to cut corners on the base frame quality, but some frames are ridiculously priced. Plus $7 in shipping is nothing compared to what I've seen on some (I'm in the US so costs are much cheaper when they aren't international).
