I begun with Milkshape... Then I started with Blender. Milkshape is much easier for beginners than Blender, but Milkshape isnĀ“t free...

Personally, I use milkshape because it is easiest for me to use. That is just me, you should probably try them all out to see what one you like best.

Well I was thinking about maya, because it has a wide range of tools and has many published books on how to use it. I was thinking i should go with maya? Is it good for a beginner?

P.S: Blender is very STEEP

WOW. I just realized that maya cost 2000$ (Usd) at its lowest. Milkshape is comlicated and so is blender there both steep! any other programs?

After 5 hours of trying everthing in milkshape, you know the whole software. Its so easy to use and make models in. And doesnt cost much either, $30 is like a game or something.

Try Anim8or, it's nice. Or simply try Milkshape.

milkshape is up there with COD4 on my list of best software i've bought(pretty much because it lets you UV map during the modeling prcess...which is nice)

blender aint complicated i downloaded it and manged to pick it up quite easily but for animating and puting your content into fpsc i wouldnt know what. but for modelling blender is your best if you want a good free tool.

also try anim8or its also free and quite good for modelling but very limiting

I'm going to go with the crowd here and say MilkShape is the way to go. Every program has a learning curve, but you really get a lot of features with MilkShape, including built in UV mapping, and all the import/export capabilities you need. Here is a link of some others you can try.

best.

The Chumbalsoft website (I think that's right) has many tutorials. Take your time, watch the tut's and play around with it. That will answer most of your questions. Good luck.

Best.

I advise Wings 3D. It is very easy to use. The only downside is it doesn't support animation

Subtract $370 and you have milk shape!
