I'm fairly certain we all know what the main use of these windows will be. It has nothing to do with surprises. Anyway, just starting off with Chrome, seems interesting, so far nothing that will make me change from FF. But I am keeping an eye on it

Chrome crashed on me - entirely. Not one tab, the whole browser. I can't scroll up using the mouse wheel. I prefer the firefox UI on XP and Vista. :/

I was a big FireFox fan... until this came out! Google Chrome is AMAZING!!! Firefox is truly amazing... but this is just better! Yay for Google!

I'm using Firefox again for the sake of plugins. But Chrome is totally my favorite aside from it's incompleteness.

But now whenever I see someone using IE I tell them to get Google Chrome. I do it by saying, "Hey, Google's got a web browser now, it's sweet". There's something about the name GOOGLE that gets people's attention. I'm slowly converting them all. It's such a good browser for the average user. But it's got a way to go for my use.

Yeah, I'm basically just waiting for more features/ plugins. Skins would be a plus as well, but to give Google credit the basic skin they have looks gorgeous in Vista anyhow.

I've already told a few people about it and you're right. They are more excited to switch to a Google browser than the unheard of company Mozilla. Silly, but oh well!

Firefox is open source, Google would be smart to build the same functionality for plugins into their browser. This would mean we could use the same plugins. I'm not sure if this is legal as some of the Firefox developers may not want their plugins associated with Google, and technically the two renderers are different.

Also, I can't seem to figure out how to get the size of an image through Chrome. I right click one and click Inspect Element, but can't seem to find the right properties. Has anyone else figured that out?

Clicking on your avater and inspecting the element, I get a ridiculously large number, but if I open it in a separate tab I get 64 x 64.

I think one of the big advantages to chrome is that it is lean and mean and doesn't include a load of stuff that a web browser doesn't really need. Mozilla the platform on the other hand is pretty big and complicated. If google add a load of that junk to chrome to get firefox plugins working it will get bloated. They would be better of just making a branded version of firefox.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

I used an old Apple 400mhz G4 for a long time and I found the only web browser that didn't lag to the point of ridiculousness was Opera, it was actually pretty speedy and had plenty of cool features (speed dial, the search shortcuts in the address bar etc.) When I got my Mac Mini, I switched back to Firefox for security more than anything.

I will try this Chrome thing, but I read its gonna be a while for a Mac OS version to come out.

Good Heavens. I just downloaded Chrome and I notice that there are already 3 pages on this subject.

I use Firefox (can't go back to IE) and have just started testing Chrome for myself.

I do like the simplicity and how they keep certain things out of the way that don't really matter. Seems pretty fast to.

But I am still partial to Firefox and I've used all of Mozilla's stuff since day one. Yeah, I'm ancient. Opera in the early days was not very good and I believe it was more text oriented so I didn't get into it. But maybe I'm thinking of another browser.

The past has a lot of memories to hold onto; but, today is chock full of new adventures, and, the future shouts out, "The best is yet to come!" -- TerryC

Firefox doesn't include plugins either--- you can choose to download them if you want. I think giving people the choice to add plugins can only be a good thing.

I agree. Also, a way to tell that the browser is still working. I get a little impatient when nothing seems to be happening. Even though Chrome seems to be a little faster there are times of slow down that can't be helped and I have no clue as to whether it just gave up or is still working. So I click the button again. Dangerous if a person is ordering something. Don't want to pay for something twice.

Netscape/IE has been doing that web browsing thing for quite a while...
nothing to see here, move on.

There's really not any individual part of Chrome that makes it cool. They really didn't do anything new. But Chrome takes the best of everything and is putting it all together in a nice sleek way.

I never cared for FF, still don't. Chrome starts quicker and has yet to crash even once. Even though I've liked Opera the most until recently, I still used IE by default. Chrome has very quickly made me change that habit. I don't think I've closed this window since I've installed it.

The problem is, I frequently use some of the more advanced options, and they either don't exist, or take ages to get to in chrome.

While I'm not sure what options he's referring to, I know that I tweaked a lot of settings in about:config (with very good results). So, there is that major loss. Of course, Chrome may have similar, and I just don't know about it. Haven't used it but ten minutes.

Ok, Chrome just crashed on me. And while it asks if you want to restart it, it won't reload the tabs you had open.

Phaelax, when it crashes, and you reopen and little dropdown by the address bar comes down(Like when firefox/ie blocks something) and asks you , if you start browsing, it goes away though.
