Quote: "And by calling things "overrated" you're basically saying that someone's opinion is wrong, which isn't really possible"

Exactly! That is what I've been trying to say. Think you just explained it a lot better than I managed to!

Quote: "Over-hyped is a word which was never used in this thread but this is what Halo 3 was
"

Now that I can agree on. I definitely Over-hyped the new Star Wars game, which is probably why I was very disappointed with it.

Anyway

I'm looking forward to Bungie's next project. The video doesn't give much away, but I rather hope they set the graphics of the game in the same style.

While realistic game play is awesome, its nice to see a company treating a game in a more artistic way.

The reason the Halo series is so highly played around the world, isn't because of the reasons most of you are giving. Sure, the graphics aren't amazing, but they flow together great. Sure, the storyline isn't that original, but it has all of the key aspects of a good storyline, regardless of whether its been done before or not. But the main reason the Halos are so good, is the feel. Ive played a lot of FPSs, as Im sure most of you have. And I have not once come across an FPS that mimics the smoothness of the controls in Halo 3.

Sure you could break it down and say Halo 3 is Half Life in space with aliens, but it feels nothing like half life when you play it.\

If you go into a game looking for reasons to dislike it, (looking for similarities to other games for example), sure, you're going to find them. But then you shouldn't really be playing the game anyways.

Bottom line, call me a "fan boy" or not (Im definitely not as I havent played Halo for about half a year), Halo feels satisfying to play. Whether its the feel of sticking someone with a nicely planted grenade, beating someone down, or just walking around, I dont know of a game that matches it.

I have no why, but every time I get some friends or my brothers together and play Halo 3--offline or online--I always find myself laughing, getting excited, and just having fun in general. The game isn't super-amazing in any aspect; it's just really fun. That's the best way to describe it.

Anyways, I'm really looking forward to this. Looks pretty cool so far.

90% of statistics are completely inaccurate.

Epic, ain't it? I went through the game on Legendary with some kid from Brisbane. He kept having to go with his mum or something, so we got to go through it about 3 times. What fun!

@General Reed

You fon't get it do you, what you're stating, IS YOUR OPINION!

Here's facts:

*1: Windows is the biggest and most well known operating software brand in existance,

*2: The XBox is one of the most popular, (if not the most popular), consoles in existence,

*3: Halo has a fanbase of millions, that many people can't just be part of the "overrated" gang.....

Now, back to what this thread's abut, (for those who can't remember, it's this possible new Halo game), the said new Halo game that might be coming out,

Wait, one last thing Reed, in case you reply:

LMAO! What the hell does this prove other than the fact that microsofts advertising campaigns were more sucssessful. Yes what you say is true, but simply because a product sells dosent mean its the best there is to offer. Windows is one of the most stable OS out there, the trouble is with the people, they have no technical grasp.

Windows is a rubish operating system. Not based on opinions, facts. Anyone with some technical knowlage will know windows is the worst designed OS in existance. There has never been anything so insecure. Everything you do in it there seems to be a problem. Seriously in this day and age, YOU SHOULD NOT GET SILENT CRASHES. Its INSANE! And they charge for it! Makes me sick. Ask yourself, why are business servers run using linux???? BECAUSE IT WORKS!
There is only one reason i use windows, because everyone else does, and in turn soft devs have no choice but to develop for windows. If people managed to get it into their little nogins, that there are other OS's avaliabe, which do not crash, do not get viruses, without having to run it and type in a password, and best of all Free, in turn opening up game devs to linux as a platform, windows would be stuffed!

Just because the xbox is most POPULAR dosent mean its the BEST! There is a diffrence between what people think, and what simply is.
Definision of "Best":
Quote: "Surpassing all others in excellence, achievement, or quality; most excellent: the best performer; the best grade of ore."

That means, which ever one performs best, whichever one is most stable, not whichever one has the best advertising campaign, or whichever one has the most customers.

Just because less people buy a bugatti veryon then buy a ford fiesta, DOES NOT MEAN A FORD FIESTA IS BETTER!

To quote another respond to something like this, you might recognize this.

Quote: "Was your birth a vaginal birth or a rectal one? Wait, don't respond, we already know.
"

I sort of had to, anyways, can we just stop with this now?

I think Halo is going to end up on the AUP's "Due to continuous problems the following subjects are also banned from discussion on all of our forums" section.

Wrong way round. Its goes 1-10 then knockout. Lol. This post is quite a good example of how a argument is started off in this thread.

What I'm so interested about is when someone starts this crap up and in this case yes it would be you General Reed (I just read the whole thread), you state the "populus", "they', that whole batch of people that shouldn't be affecting your thinking but somehow brainwashes you. If you don't like something thats fine but why reference what 63% of people you've never met and never will think, it just doesn't make any sense to me, you should like or dislike what you want and others will do the same but dear gods don't bow down to some other figurehead, you're just well... a zombie lol, a zombie to the media leaders.

Anyways, hate halo love halo doesn't matter, its still going to gross billions because of how well made it is. I'm personally excited for this new project, seeing this from a marine's POV would be amazing, like if you saw chief just run by you, awesome!!!

I have played halo 1 2 + 3, and i personaly found them to be a lot less than what all the reviews had stated. Before i purchase a game i tend to go online and watch all the reviews i can find on youtube, to get a mix of ideas as to what its like. So i bought halo 3, played it all the way through, and i thought to myself... What is all the fuss about? It just seemed like a normal fps, with features which have been done better in other titles. Its not like im going by what there all saying on the polls.

Quote: "thats fine but why reference what 63% of people you've never met and never will think"

I was simply pointing out that im not the only one who uses the apparently incorrect word "Overated"

Quote: "to some other figurehead, you're just well... a zombie lol, a zombie to the media leaders. "

As i explained above this is not what i do.

That would look pretty epic, though it would personally make me miss playing as him...

@ General Reed:

Halo doesn't really offer that many inventive features, it's just the blend of everything and the feel of it that people like (in most cases).

And so did I, I started out with halo 2 at a friends and enjoyed it but couldn't see the hype. I played the campaign and fell in love with the flow of the experience, guns, atmosphere, enemies, the she-bang . But with all three games, my expectations were not lived up in any way but I still had an absolute blast. But...I challenge anyone to tell me what fps out there makes you flow that well.
