I was going to do an ammo counter in the sight window, but it didn't work the way I wanted.

Thanks I used gimp to do this. I did it in three steps of 30 images and the in the animation tab used blend and that turned into 142 images, I think.

Woah that is a pretty awesome sig. As for the game, what'd be cool is if you had a tracker, kinda like the one in Aliens as your radar.

I want to be able to give the illusion of a scolling weapon hud. I know I can just use ply's mod or project blue, but I want to make x9 do it on it's own. I have been trying to get it to work for a week now and no cigar. I asked ply for some help on this and he said use "plrfiredweapon=myweaponhere" command and it would work. Apparently not for me. So, I thought maybe someone out there could give it go. What I was going for was if the player selected slot=1 it would show the weapon hud at a certian point on the screen like hudy=80, hudx=5 something like that. Then when player selected say slot=3 hud would be hudy=90, hudx=5 and so on and so forth. I'm sure you get the picture now, if not here's an avp2 pic.

I want the look and feel of this game to be much different than the run of the mill fpsc game.I'm afraid that my scripting knowledge is limited and I could use the help.

My second thought is to do it all in the setuplevel script.Help would be nice ,but not required.

Plrfiredweapon command is only in plys mod as far as I know. You could do that function like

keypressed=1:hudshow=weapon1,hudunshow=
(do this hudunshow command for all other weapon huds)

Then get rid of weapon huds you had before. And then you can attach that script to a dynamic light in your level and it should work, ive done that in one of my games. One bug of this script is that it will switch to that hud even if you dont have that weapon. But you could make a variable that gets increased by 1 when you pick up that gun, then your weapon hud script checks if weapon1 variable is 1 and then it shows the hud.The second bug is mouse scrooling wont show huds. The only other way is to offset the hud of every weapon lower but that would show only 1 hud so you would have to show other weapon huds via script.

Posted in your script thread, but in chase you didnt see:

Simple effect of scrolling weapons:

Pros:
-Isnt affected by which order player picks up weapons.
-Requires no scripting knowledge
-Only have to change the hud_icon.dds in gamecore/guns

Cons:
-Wont show ammo next to the weapon, you will have to put the ammofield somewere else.

You dont have to thank me

Starmind, have you thought of implementing a higher freqency of tone when you get closer and closer to the enemies and also changing the HUD tracker image so you see the dot getting closer to the player when near the aliens? One thing I didn't like in the demo was that the tracker image was just a looping animation and didn't actually tell you when an enemy was close.

Buttmonkey, I have tried to make the game as close to the movie and games as possible. Problem is without a mod to do the radar is uses to many scripts and slows the game way down. What I had was when the player was in a zone it would display a blip on script showing where the enemy was. This only gave the illusion of the effect, of course the ultimate would be to have the blip follow the enemy and have the sound increase in frequency as it approaches. As far as the sound of a higher frequency as the plr gets closer to the enemy, I have yet to make the script.

If someone would like to donate a script for this I welcome it or if you can make this script and don't want to do it for free, I will buy it from you. Just remember a non-mod script or one of the free mods script is fine. I have all the mods including pb trial version.

I am also looking for two more male voices. Small fish was nice enough to do two roles for me and they sound great.

Today I will be on and off of here to post some of my work on the medical bay. I started making it last night and should be done by tonight. I will be working with milkshape and blender to get the look of what I am going for. Yesterday I sat down and my the final version of the MK23 sidearm in which I have been told the texture was off. This the side arm with it's many textures and it's final version. Enjoy!

I did alittle more on the med bay today and plan to do more tonight, but this is what I have right now. The texture color is only for me to see what was done and what I have just done. The stuff in the tan color was done last night. Stuff in the white texture is what I have just done. Enjoy!

Thanks small fish. I also look forward to seeing pom3.
Ok,I have been working on this med bay trying to get it just like the movie. Now, I realized that I have to go back and redo all the levels that I have done to make the fit with how the med bay looks. It's like taking xbox 360 stuff and mixing it with n64 levels, it just doesn't look right. So, I will be busy for awhile. Right now I am working on parts of the really long intro for the game. Parts are from the actual movies mixed with cgi created with blender. I also been trying to make a better alien both mesh and texture due to someone sending me an email last night with " I hope your aliens look like this " Pic of this alien is at the bottom of this post. So, I am again re-re-making my alien to fit the standard below. I can make the model, but the animation thing is the kicker. Anyone up for the challenge? I made a chestburster, but you will only get to see maybe four or five of these in the whole game. Also there is two main bosses both are beautiful. I wanted to use the alien queen as the last boss, but I found something much better to show. I'll give a hint it's three times the size of the queen and it right now keeps throwing me out of the level. I'll fix that though. Ok, enough for tonight enjoy the competition pic.

I have no idea what the heck is 3 times the size of an alien queen.
I thought the alien you made was fine I wish I could help with the animation but my animation skills suck that's why my games guns are always retextures of other guns

This is coming along nicely. The demo was pretty cool as well. I want to check this one out when it's done. I'm a huge Alien fan myself.

Here's the M41A that Errant A.I. Built for me a while back.

Great job so far, Starmind.

Ok, I decided to make a game out of this and post it here as well. The gazer file is in the entitybank of the game, this is for everyone. If you use the gazer in your game I suggest you take the roving guard script from my game as well. Enjoy!

Here's some screenies:

Here's the download:

Almost forgot this is the readme that came with the gazer file.

EDIT: More like a hint if you should run low on health pray to the goddess of the pool by pressing enter.

LOL In the models thread mr game asked that someone animate the free model he got at turbosquid, so instead of just doing all the work and no satisfaction out of it I made a fun little game with it. So, I was just doing it to entertain you all.

Yes I am still working on it. I am helping out where I can. Sometimes you can work on something so long that you can become alittle burned out. I am not burnt out, but I have been redesigning the levels and as you can see from the last post of the medical bay that I am making all the need detail for a great game. I have enlisted the help of cp for the texturing of some of my models, so the look should begin to improve. I will keep you all posted on any futher developments.

no small fish I did have time the other day to upload them, so you had to press view to see it. I removed my sig so it would stop messing with the post. I had a few people say that it would freeze their computer, so I thought that I would just do that.

Hey Brian, just wanted to post an update. I had to rebuild the medbay hub, and wall unit. The whole thing is 2 entities now. I think it turned out O.K.

Still want to tweak the texture a bit. Other than that, it's done. Next up is the outer wall, and curved corridor.
