Someone posted and optical illusion a few days ago so I thought I would post my favourites:-

Scroll past these ones:

Look at the dot in the middle and move your head back and forth.

^^^ They look better on paper ^^^

This one you will not believe: square A & B are the same colour

This one will give you a headache:

one word, wow! but if you wanna get all mathematical about the last one, it's kinda obvious where the hole comes from the hypotenuse of the 2nd triangle is higher than the 1st, taking strips from each square along it could compensate for the hole

First two: Not bad!

Third one: Dosen't work for me.

Fourth one: No, it's NOT the same color, and I'm going to prove it in just a second.

Fifth one: WTF?

@Hexgear
Can you put that in a code box, please?

See if anyone can work it out for themselves.

Fifth one makes sense now.

Fourth one is the best optical illusion I've ever seen. Just brilliant. I'll normally accept that it's my eyes being tricked, not often I'm forced to go and check because it's so unreal.

The dot one is pretty neat.

I put it in paint to try and prove it wrong.

I failed.

With the fourth one, open it in paint, select a piece of square B and drag it up to square A.
There's a moment when your eye 'realises' and makes them the same colour. Weird.

Yes, I just showed my family.

You know what's REALLY weird? Copy the whole B square with some borders of the other squares around it, and move it over to the A square. The tiles around it still make it look dark, but you can't deny that it's the same color as square A.

they all work, i'm particularly freaked by the top 3, it all has to do with "out of focus", you can only focus on one area!

as for the 5th, the areas don't even match up, assuming grids are 1 unit * 1 unit

- triangle 1 area summing shapes is 32
- triangle 2 area summing shapes is 32
- however, the area of triangle 1 as a whole = 32.5

theres 0.5 missing somewhere, strips from grids along then hypotenuse compensate for the remaining 0.5 creating a full box.

The "whole triangles" aren't triangles.
One dips in along the hypoteneus, one pokes out a bit.

This one RULES:

It looks like the grey bar in the middle fades darker but it is actually a constant color. Don't believe me? Open it in paint, Grap the colour of the bar and draw you own bar next to it!

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but the A B one, those two are in fact two different colors. I opened it up in Paint and checked.

Actually, it is a bit disingeniuous to suggest that they are "two" different colors. There are multiple colors there and quite a few colors are shared. But there are colors in both the A and the B that are not shared between the two. If you zoom in and check you can see for yourself.

we're talking about the majority of the squares. sure, a few pixels at the edges might be different, but the whole point is that they look completely different.

Always cool, Farmboy Kharnor was seen walking around with a long string of toilet paper stuck to his foot.

@Neophyte I think that your download must be corrupt because A/B are a single colour, and the colour is the same all over.

@Divide By Zero

"Neophyte, copy the B square and paste it somewhere into the picture..then move it around the picture with your mouse.. you'll see it is the same colour as the A square."

Okay, I'll give it a try. Yeah, A JPEG corrupted it I think.

DO NOT CHEAT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, It's Funny!!!

Quick Eye Exam...

This will blow your mind...!

Just do it -- don't cheat!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try this its actually quite good.

But don't cheat!

Count the number of F's in the following text:

FINISHED FILES ARE THE

RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC

STUDY COMBINED WITH THE

EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

Managed it?

Scroll down only after you have counted them!

OK?

How many?

Three?

Wrong, there are six -- no joke!

Read again!

FINISHED FILES ARE THE

RESULT OF YEARS OF SCIENTIFIC

STUDY COMBINED WITH THE

EXPERIENCE OF YEARS

The reasoning is further down...

The brain cannot process the word "OF".

Incredible or what?

@the_winch

I tried your picture and they are still not the same. Zoom in on the B. In the center of the | of the B you can see much darker pixels than are anywhere on the A. I used the color picker tool in the gimp to get the percise values and I varified it. The color I am talking about is R 49 G 49 B 49. You won't find that color anywhere in A. Also, there is a R 51 G 51 B 51 and a R 65 G 65 B 65 in there as well as a whole slew of other colors that don't appear in the A. Really. Use the zoom tool and see for your self.

I'm trying to make on of those illusions for a 20 liner but I've come to a problem.

How do you get a decimal into an array?

They are always rounded to the nearest whole number.
I can't be bothered to use STR() & VAL().
Is there another way?

They're too slow to respond and as it was inspired by this thread it thought it would be OK.

In the DBC help it says Arrays can hold integers, real numbers or strings.

I saw 3 thrice then I saw the 6 after I was told what to see.
Cool Pincho.

This just shows how susceptable we all are to illusions.

Like the 9-11 hoax.

Three buildings symetrically collapsing?
Pentagon damage consistant with a missile (certainly not a jet airliner that no one saw or heard coming in)?
Bush blocking the investigations.
Faked phone calls from the 'hijacked' planes?
and so on.....
