SNOW ISLAND

On a routine military operation the weather takes a turn for the worst, resulting in a crash landing. With all other crew members down and no method to contact the outside you are stranded on Snow Island

Good, but that snow has got to go! Maybe if you want some snow source then just e-mail.

Not trying to be critical, just a suggestion.

Sounds good big brother. I agree on the snow thing as well.

Other than that, I think this could top your other Beware of the Moon game, which is something to get even more excited about since it was a good game.

Keep up the good work.

That would be brilliant Magellan Studios, models are what the game needs.

I don't know if you can do buildings but i've posted a new thread in requests and theres some pictures of the building style which would suit the game.

Cheers Andrey, yeh the gun does look a little big but its all one object so scaling the gun would also scale the player, doesn't look too bad from behind though.

Are there any puzzles to complete Resident Evil style? Or does it involve finding the right way?

Hi MIR, there are puzzles such as locked doors, but mainly involves working your way through the Island in search of an escape opportunity.

Hi MS, its does seem a bit weird yellow snow, but trust me its just lights lol, nothing else lol

This is looking really awesome. Here's some things you might want to improve on from Beware the Moon.

Construct the levels so the player has an idea of where to go, then as the game progresses it can become more maze-like. And the goal of finding your partners and gathering evidence needed to be presented more clearly.

Write an algorithm that makes sure the game runs fast no matter what type of machine it's on.

Make the game, at least the main character, move slightly faster overall. I ran BTM on my friend's 3.2ghz GeofrceFX5200(128mb) 1024 RAM and it was still difficult to control the agent and walking around felt time consuming, especially when it took him so long to get running.

Something I loved in BTM-the music! The intro was very appropriately themed and stirred up emotions right before you started playing. You need more like that in Snow Island.

If you look closely the black around the writing and the black on the background are a diffirent shade and I was thinking that could be really obvious when its printed. Also there is a green wavy thing right of the PC CD-ROM logo. There was no way to send you the texture for the facility so Ill try to post it on the team request thread.

first of all, seen any snow lately? Cos to me that looks more like rain - especially as you seem to be grouping them. and how about using spherical texture on them, btw?

I'd say that get rid of the shadowing aswell, it's slow and also seemingly creates more graphical artifacts than neat effects.

I do like the object placement and how you've put them deep in the snow... and the screenie with the alien, now that was spooky as it wasn't that easy to spot. Smells like a good game.

To me, this game looks as though it will be one of the best action games anyone has ever made using the designing program provided by this site. To me, it looks like it will be even more sucessful than Room Wars!

Something that killed the speed on any computer on BTM was the over use of particles, and it looks like the explosive barrel has a little bit too much.

This game is getting even better than before! Keep up the good work! And I like the explosion (or is it fire?) effect on the pic with the barell. Oh, and the link to Room Wars is http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?m=download&fi=400c1ba6544500.25607763
Hope you like the game!

Oh, and maybe you should add mountains into the game. The enviornment would be more realilistic with a couple of good slopes. And maybe you could add some areas where you can see the testing equipment that they used. Maybe a round glass chamber, like in most sci-fi flicks of experiments gone wrong! Like I said before, keep up the good work!

With that interface your game starts to look alot like a professional game because your games are fun but they don't have much when it comes to interfaces.

It's looking great, but a few suggestions.
Firstly, footprints are a must. Without it it makes the guy look like he's floating. At least make him about ankle deep, it'll be very realistic, and I'll play it like crazy !

Also, good snow falling would be cool also, I forget who mentioned this earlier.

A good interface would be cool, like Secret Shadow said, something like Half-Life (if you haven't played it, I would suggest it. This game reminds me of it).

I'd also be happy to make a few textures for you, maybe a model but keep in mind I'm not that fantastic of a modeller. Email me- daft_lynx@hotmail.com
I was also really into Beware the Moon, when my darn computer allowed me to play it that is, so keep up the good work.

Cheers,
Lynx

Hey bigbrother 2000

Screens look nice so far.
For the levels, you should add lightmapping. It would really set the atmosphere for a game like this.

p.s

Trying for the third time to download Beware the moon. My connection keeps stoping.

I'll get it soon enough though.

- What do you think of the game/screenshots so far?
Wicked. It´s starting to look very pro.
- What controls would you use for a character that can walk/run/turn left/right/shoot/walk backwords?
I use the cursor keys to move with shift button to change from run to walk and vice versa. I use the mouse to aim, turn and shoot. Alot of people prefer to use the letter keys though so it would be better to add a control configueration menu if that is posible
- Has anyone got a good sound for a health pack/first aid kit that i could use?
Umm. Can´t say that I have. Check this site to see if it has any: http://www.partnersinrhyme.com/soundfx/warsounds.shtml

cheers, megellan studios, i think i'll keep controls pretty much similar to beware the moon, which had 3 ways of controling, WASD, Arrow keys or mouse, then players could use whatever they felt most comfortable with, so if anyone hasn't played Beware The Moon, heres the link:
