The IP's aren't even remotely similar, but I wouldn't suspect they're the same person anyway, they just have a similar personality.

That sounds just like CmC so that's why I got suspicious, but then I checked the registrant info on his domain. Not even close

Dynamic IP's select from a range of possible IP's, you're IP will always remain within the range as long as you're on the same service provider. The greater problem is that it's very easy to use a proxy or mask your IP giving you a radically different address, fortunately, Z-Interactive/CMC seem to be too dumb to know how to do that.

On another note IanG, unless you've stayed connected to the internet for the past month, your IP is most definately static.

GAH!!!! <is swamped in a pool of little red x's and broken links>

I swear, probably at least a third of these old sig images, website links, and program downloads are down.

I wonder if another service will rise, and fill the void left by DBspot. ^_^

Not meaning to be the voice of reason here,
but what guarantees do you have from JFK Jam For Kennedy, that once you have
paid for service you will get a full 3 months, 6 months, 12 months (lifetime?) level
of access of service.

I haven't read his web pages (I don't intend to). How do you know you will actually get what you pay for? While $20 may sound cheap, it could also relate to the level of service you can expect. ie. none.

I work in the industry, so I think I'm entitled to comment. Infact I've worked in the industry since it's inception back in the early 90's. If my experience can save you losses then I figure it's worth posting..

Just make sure you are fully aware of (a) the facts and (b) who you are dealing with before parting with your hard earned cash.

I can understand Jimmy's dbspot as it was free. With free I'd expect no real service level guarantee (SLA). I think a better setup for someone getting into offering hosting to DBPro forum users would be donationware, rather than have some fixed cost. Promote the fact that it's donationware and often you can be surprised at the result.
Correspondingly if what you offer is pretty basic service, then expect nothing.

I'd highly caution any users to wait until Jam for Kennedy's service is up and proves reliable before even considering the package. That's just my opionion though.
