Agreed. There are more women in the industry than most of you probably know. When I was working at EA there were several women programmers--- more of them were artists though.

Most of the girls in my class either failed COMPRO or are planning to shift to IT (the business-ish course). Guess most of them don't like software tech...

Don't worry, be Wahoo!

I'm currently working on getting up at 6am and getting back from work at 7:30pm. That is my new project. I'm currently stuck at the bit where I have to stay awake while at work. DBP-wise, I've still got my shoot em up mid-production. It's looking kinda cool. I would show you some shots on my site, but in trying to fix it, I've just deleted the database

How foolish of me. I should've specified conventional "reflective" mirror, as opposed to Trekkie/Bizarro mirror, whereby all people in the mirror have evil Goatees.

New 'n' Improved sig details how little I accomplish

@Adr

Harsh mate! I'm currently waiting to go back for my final year of my course, so got plenty of time on my hands. Working on that zombie shooter on my website again - it should be phat. Megaton is helping out with level design, and they are looking good. Hopefully you'll sort it out soon mate.

@TinkerGirl

They shouldn't have to deal with and take crap from people, but at the same time, you gotta recognise it'll always happen. People will always be sexist,self-important etc. If you can't handle attitude from muppets, you'll never get anywhere. You've got the veil of the internet to calm down, take your time, get over any immature forum posts. This isn't face to face confrontation when it happens - it's spotty teenager in his bedroom typing a forum message 2 hours before you read it.

It shouldn't happen, I agree, but it does, and it's not that bad. Give as good as you get, or totally blank the individuals that cause trouble. There's no point in leaving a community because of a problem you can easily ignore. How can someone handle the real world if they can't handle a programming forum?

Ah, but everything in a mirror is completely the other way around. And I just shaved...

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

What harassment? This is an internet forum. This is the internet. Like Fallout said, I can imagine how someone will react in a real-life conflict if they get all soft & upset from reading forum messages by a guy hundreds of miles away.

Randi left for other reasons. Not because of the whole 'bra' inccident.

Also, just because this is a virtual environment doesn't mean that people have virtual feelings. Not everyone who is on a forum is using some pseudonim handle pretending to be someone they aren't. Many people are actually using forums, chat clients and such to talk to people that ordinarily they would probably never have the chance to meet, let alone get along with.

It's not pathetic to get fed up with comments people make. You should all realise that not just on a forum but out there in the strangely daylight illuminated real-world people will take to heart what you are saying.. I don't care if you mean it or not, or your just playing the internet like some big game. Fact is not everyone is. Most women if you insult them too much will do the exact same thing in real-life too; despite if they brought it upon themselves. As will many guys actually.

The number of times some guy has started talking crap to me in a bar but the hin that he might have his face rearranged instantly backs off and amazingly disappears. And seriously, this forum has probably the biggest collection of ***holes I've ever met. And I mean ever... out of all the forums, places, etc. I've ever been this place by far out-weighs everywhere else.

I've no idea either. Maybe they'll flake out, maybe they'll get their mates round to do them in, maybe they'll throw a left hook, maybe they'll calmly turn the other cheek. Who can say.

Still, in a perfect world we'd never know because they'd never have to deal with it. It's not - so they do. And maybe spotty teenagers sitting in basements belittling others via text should be proud of the fact that they're toughening up emotionally sensitive types so they can deal with the real world. Yeah.

You have to be up front with a woman. Take for example this chat up line:

"Nice legs luv. What time do they open?"

Chat up line for a woman with computer knowledge:

"Can i insert my floppy into ur drive?"

Honestly i have never used those. Maybe one day if i want my face to be slapped. Honestly i'm a nice guy once u get to know me.
