Besides that, I will never understand how someone can be proud of a "their own" nation. I mean those inventions, for example, were made by people who happened to be born (or who happened to live) in the same country. I don't see how I could be proud of it- it's not that I have anything to do with it, nor where I was born.

Is it me or have all countries had someone that invented those things. Wasn`t the lightbuld also invented in Britan and Canada?

edit: seems some guy called Thomas de Colmar also reckons he invented it in 1820. Any other takers?

Yeah the Analytical Engine. It was the first mechanical computer. Zuse designed an electromechanical computer that was programmable.

more arrogance. you dont realise how much you've benefitted from the rest of the world.
half of the things you listed there arent even american inventions, its just you'e typically so proud of yourselves that, hell, it must have been you that invented them.

the first ever modern pc as we know it was made in britain. the first ever computer used for war time purposes was british. the internet was invented in switzerland, linux was started in scandinavia. all you got of yourself in the computer industry is microsoft. man you must be proud.

See i think the problem is politicans. Yes the poor poor politicans i think that they are all givin power but yet don't deserve any of it. Some day the regular joe will take back this country. Why do you think I said "practically"? I admit that all inventions require things that have previously been invented by somebody else. I am proud of my country... aren't you proud of yours? Is that why every country hates Americans... they can't stand us because we're proud to be American? Or maybe it's just because we were the first to fly like a bird or is it because we're only country to ever set foot on another planet. It's like your favorite sports team... when your team wins... you say "We won!". When my country does something good... "We won!". Is there no pride in your heart for your countries achievements?

Actually all computers that are based on chips (all modern computers and calculators ) owe their existance to an American company called Texas Instruments.

Actually i'm a True American... can somebody say American Indian? My last name is Indian... my great grandma was full blooded Cherokee. There's more Indians in my family but I won't bore you with my genealogy.

Grog, you think an American invented the lightbulb? The car? Think again and do your research.

It would seem that a Canadian invented the electric lightbulb: http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/bllight.htm#woodward

Other Canadian inventions: kerosene, JAVA computer language, garbage bag, music synthesizer, colourized film, radio transmitted voice.... more? The zipper. Basketball. Hockey. There are tons more.

Probably every country has their inventions that have changed the world. The Americans don't have any better claim to fame from their inventions that Britain, Canada, China, etc. Hell, China invented gunpowder and paper, among other things.

And the Internet was developed at CERN if I'm not mistaken--- in Switzerland.

Woah - I think you may have dreampt up a problem there - we don't not like your government because you an all stand up and say you're proud to be American.

I'm happy when England win (and hopefully will be even happier in the next few days...)

right, so it wasnt even your race that did all this amazing stuff, it was the peoples that invaded your land. man you must be REALLY proud.

ps. the first country to fly like a bird was actually new zealand. they flew 2 weeks before the wright brothers did, its just yet again, the americans have to steal all the glory.
