It's totally a Porn Station Portable. The first use outside of that stupid football game they released with it was to store pornography.

I live in a nice neighborhood though, there are a lot of people with IPods or walkmans, people don't get jumped for those. In fact, very few people get jumped. Usually it's the jocks jumping on the gays, art students, or emo kids.

Perhaps not genius material, but like Bear agreed.. It's totally true.

I personally know quite a few people from last year at school who bought PSP's.. Atleast 5. And i know atleast 4 out of the 5 of them had porn on their psp's.

I think the one other person just hadnt figured out how to put pictures on his psp yet, heh.

I dont claim to be a genius about gaming consoles and such and that's why i'm asking a couple of questions right now for those who know better than i do to answer.

First off, why dont microsoft/sony/nintendo implement a feature into the hardware which allows for gameplay recording.. In the Xbox 360's case, directly onto the hard-drive?

Secondly, why doesnt Microsoft/Sony/Nintendo develop software somewhat like Tivo to allow tv cable connections to stream through the xbox/playstation 3/revolution into the tv where it can be paused, fast forward etc? ie. As soon as the pause button is pressed, it starts saving the video onto the hard drive, when the play button is pressed it starts resuming from the hard drive where the pause was first placed.

Seems like these would be two features which arent very difficult, and well worth creating to promote aswell as pull in a more diverse crowd into the consoles.

They already did that, with a Playstation2 model released in Japan a year or two ago. It failed miserably so they didn't release it anywhere else in the world.

To record actual game footage to a video file to play back is possible (pc apps such as fraps can do this) but it takes a HUGE performance hit. However games which use action replays or let you re-watch your match/race etc achieve a much better effect by simply recording what buttons you pressed at what time and re-rendering the whole thing. This works much better as you can change camera angles, zoom without artifecting, etc and you don't need huge ammounts of hdd space for large video files.

@ Mold Rat " I want one of these! http://x700.putfile.com/videos/a6-25509582552.wmv"

I bought 10 of these recently hoping to make a profit listing them on ebay - get the listing right and a nice pic and those could do very well to people bying gifts who don't know what they are talking about - bying for their kids etc. Think about it, just take a nice picture of it with the box, state its a psp "clone" machine imported from the east with a 3.5 inch color lcd screen, comes with one game, NOT a PSP but a much cheaper alternative to give to younger brothers etc. I might get 5-20 quid each for them, I paid 1.50 each

POP Station... right...

I've seen a blatant PSX clone that plays NES or SNES games, I think. For some reason, it comes with a keyboard.

They sure will.

The most attractive thing about the multiplayer is that it's free!! ( assuming that the developers don't impose restrictions on the games themselves... Which would suck, and I'd never ever pay money for ).

Mario Kart is definatly the next DS game I'll get... Play that against my mates when we're board... Should be sweet fun!

EDIT: I meant maybe some store...would be a pain if I got one of ebay that has a krusty touch screen. Would rather try it out first.

Hahah, that'd be awesome if you could set the two things up like that and have a game span all three screens

... But anyway, enough of my fantasies...

I just realized earlier that I've owned one of each of the Nintendo Hand Helds at one time or another besides the SP and the new Micro/Mini/Stupidly Tiny thing that's just Stupid...

Gameboy: Still got it... played Pokemon on it the other afternoon! haha!
GameBoy Pocket/Color: Had one of each, then house go robbed...
GameBoy Adv: Got that as a replacement from those two being stolen! HAHA!
DS: Yeah, obviously I have that now

The Micro will do very well in Japan where they love things being small for the sake of it. I also like the way itlooks like a NES pad But for the rest of the world, yes its a stupid idea Especially with the preice drop of the DS to 80 quid in most places, the mocro would have to be 35 pounds brand new or it'd be a rip off in comparision...

Mario Kart? Supersexy.
The last game I bought was Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow. The anime is pretty lame, but oh man that game is sweet. Haven't tried the multiplayer-it looks lame. But who plays Castlevania for multiplayer?

The DS is an amazing system. You can criticize the uselessness of two screens, but if you do you've obviously never tried the DS.
Mario Kart DS is an absolutely amazing game, and even the editors are calling it the greatest Mario kart game ever. It uses the second screen as a close-up map, which is so incredibly helpful as you could actually race from this screen alone (not that you'd want to, but it gives you that much information about your surroundings). Have you seen sonic rush? It's being called the greatest sonic game ever. Period.

If you want to buy either a psp or a ds, consider this in your choosing-
-The ds is far cheaper.
-The ds has free wi-fi.
-The ds is blowing the psp away in sales.
-The psp, while a great media player, just can't hold up against things like the i-pod and the i-movie media wise, so you'd better be getting it for the games.
-And a lot of people seem to forget this, but Nintendo makes far more durable systems than Sony (my ds has been flung out of a jacket onto the ground, had water split all over it, left in freezing weather, been banged up a good deal in travel, yet still works perfectly).

@JessTicular, how many racers have you un-locked so far? And who do you race with? I use Toad… he's just so awesome.

@Lukas W, go to ign.com or something; they have a full list of all the current ds games, as well as reviews for all the ones that have been released.

nope I still haven't seen a decent use of the 2 screens.... there are some really cool games though. Mario Kart IS awesome - but the ONLY reason I ever look at the lower screen is to see shells being fired at me from behind... and that could have been done on one larger screen with a rear view or warning gui... oh well, its still a cool little console

Bizar,
So far I've got Daisy, Dry Bones, and Waluigi.
I like to race with Luigi untill I got to the 150cc, now I need better items with good speed still, so I go for Yoshi's third cart

'tis a great game, but I've almost finished it all ( The missions only took a couple of hours, even though they WERE hard! )

K2,
True, but you have to admit that actually having a second physical screen there is so much better than playing in split screen or with a rear-view like you suggested, yeah?

We should all have a bash over Multiplayer some time ( that is, when I find a free Wi-Fi spot near me, or get the USB dongle for my broadband at home ).

"you have to admit that actually having a second physical screen there is so much better than playing in split screen or with a rear-view like you suggested, yeah?"

Maybe, but it still feels like a cheap gimmick to me I'm afraid, there been no ds games where I've felt "Oh thank god for that second screen!"

If the DS had a screen the size of the psp or gp32 then a proper 3d rendered rear view wold be preferable, especially if coupled with a top down map in the lower right corner of the screen liek most racing games do...

I like the games which make proper use of the touch screen, they really feel innovative, but for the most part its just used as a poor quality analogue pad replacement Sorry I'll repeat though I do like the DS, I own one and there are sopme great games on it I just don't like the design of the unit as much as the SP for example, which I felt was much nicer to look at, perhaps adding a flatish analogue stick to that and just upgrading the hardware would have pleased me more... boring I know!

What I really hate is how some ds developers think that since the ds is a Nintendo handheld, they can just port their gba game over to it, and no one will notice. IF I WANT TO PLAY A GBA GAME, I'LL JSUT BUY THE GBA VEDRSION YOU MORONS.

The two screens aren't nearly as useful as the touch screen, but they really do make playing the games quite a bit easier, even if they're not that innovative.

A few days ago I was battling a friend in Mario Kart DS, and some of the people around us (friends without any handhelds what so ever), thought it was pretty funny that we were blowing into the mics to fill up the balloons. It's such a simple feature, but it's so much more satisfying than just holding down the select button, if not as dignified.

You know what the PSP sort of reminds me of? The N-gage, back in its youth. I personally don't think the PSP will fare well in the future, simply because we of the handheld market are, for the most part, cheep bastards.

Have you tried Meteos? It's near impossible to play that using the touchpad--- the touch screen was made for games like that

Star Wars Episode III is a major offender. I got it for free when I bought my DS back in July, tried it once, then traded it in at EB. Good riddance.

"Have you tried Meteos?" Yes Great game and plays very well with the control system - a good example of a game being designed for the system

And yeah, GBA games on DS carts suck donkey b@lls.

Yeah, but not for the DS.

I don't know if you're still thinking about buying Goldeneye for DS, but don't ever buy that game. It's very fun and all( though it has lousy graphics, even compared to other DS games ), and it is INCREDIBLY short.
