@all the modellers, how is it going? any more work?
i will come up with a weapon list soon. in the mean time, can someone model the character? i can't draw people so here is a screen to show you what he can look like>>>

but it would be great if his cloak weren't so tatty. for now an idle animation would be great! also medium polys would be good.
thanks

So what position is the "artist"? Artist for what?

Just out of opinion, I think it would be a better if you were a main programmer alone, and asked for help from others, instead of having other's lead and you help with concept art, because the leader is normally the coder. Also concept doesn't seem necessary for a project (I never do it). Just my opinion.

And....4 programmers?!

I'm at the head of a team, total for all jobs is three people.

You're going to run into problems with people being uncomitted, running out of time, or jobs clashing with other people's job. For example, with several modelers, many people may want to do the hero character and no one will want to make a car.

It's also a good idea to have screenshots before you ask for a team.

i've got screenshots, and it isn't just a team for this game. the purpose of concept art is to show the modellers what i want modelled and also to get an idea of the look and feel of the game.

and artist is the 2d artwork, eg menu graphics and textures

4 programmers, yes i know, i was a bit overwelmed as well. but certain people specialize in certain areas, eg AI

and once again, please can all members join the new forums

thankyou

Do you want me to use sketch up to model some BASIC things, email me some examples of things you want done. I'll even try texturing them. Static preferably.

that would be great, ill come up with a list soon. i just came up with a good idea. instead of putting the final code in an exe, why not create a programme that passes the .dba file (or whatever) to the db compiler. this could be hidden somewhere, or possibly it might be built in to the final exe. that way we can create patches easily.

I can actually make simple things for you right now, like items and stuff. The main character is going slowly beacuse of school and soccer and homework.

using a model for the landscape is easiest, unfortunatly it only supports dbpro. so when you export it as a .x you loose the texture, but everything else is fine.

here is a landscape that i made in 30 seconds, i then copied a texture from the terrain editor and textured it manually.

not bad eh?

i have uploaded a demo of ground and building to the forums.

Wow nice landscape! Very nice indeed. I had a collision system that worked in DBPro but I couldn't get it to work in DBC using Sparky's collision DLL. The smoke is done btw (see other forum)

A smaller resolution please!!!!! The smaller, the faster the program will run! Keep it looking unstretched, but keep the resolution low.

I would suggest 960 by 600, or 800 by 600. But if I had to choose, I would choose 800 by 600

using fraps i have managed to gather together a short video to demonstrate the test landscape. here's a little tip to anybody using fraps. when you first capture it, it's like 90mb, by using windows movie maker you can shorten it to 2mb!
i have only included a .zip because that and the .rar are exactly the same size. to make the video smaller i did it on 25fps so it might be a little slow
http://www.box.net/public/sgclx3s3of

enjoy!!!

Sorry bout the texture. The thing is that Photobucket converted it to a JPG when I posted it thus reducing the quality. I'll try to fix the line.

EDIT:
-Okay problem solved (I think) check other forum. Oh, and I'm not sure if this command exists, but if it does then have a look at the SET OBJECT TEXTURE command.
