This has proven to be nonsense, as the police have stated that vision of his death clearly shows he wasn't manhandling, or otherwise antagonising, the creature when it attacked him.

People get attacked by rays, and it is apparantly not uncommon. It's just not common to be killed by them.

In general, you have far more chance of dieing in a car accident, or being run over outside your school than coming to grief from wild animals, even in Australia.

As for the baby dangling incident, that was just a beat up from the local Channel 7 tabloid scumsuckers that needed something to show because they were having a slow week.

The real footage (from the side) clearly shows that the kid was about 5 metres at all times from the crock.

If you've ever strapped your kid into your car and gone for a drive on the freeway then you've got no place to judge, imo.

Whether you liked the guy or not is up to you, but I find the whole "he got what he asked for" routine repugnant, to say the least.

Do you not see the picture posted at the top of the page?

Is that anything like 5 metres away? - He's looking into it's freakin mouth with his 3 month old kid that he apparantly loves more than anything. If that's an example of the worlds most loving dad, then I'd hate to see what he could do if he hated kids.

Now Steve has 'come a cropper', it was probably a good job he didn't have a kid strapped to him!. He clearly thought he was invincible as well, you see the way he lunges at poisonous beasties - the man wasn't right in the head.

Yes but it's an optical illusion, I have seen the proper footage that was shot from a different angle, and the kid is quite far away.

Like you said Van B, his career was on the downturn. He needed constantly more dangerous and daring encounters with wild animals to maintain his popularity. After a while of doing that, combined with his decreased sensitivity to the actual danger of the creatures, it was just bound to happen.

His family should be taken care of, at least.

Far away?

Listen, doesn't matter what flimsy excuses he came out with, doesn't matter how far away he says he was - that snap right there is him droppin chicken in the crocs mouth.

Here's about a second before:

Now I'm gonna assume that Steve's arms are of a normal length, also that the croc is normal size too, so I'm intruiged as to how that shot is misleading. To drop food into an animals mouth, and that's what he's doing, you'd have to basically stand over it.
So if he's close enough the feed the croc, surely that's too close for a young baby. Some would say feeding any wild animal with a baby is a bloody idiotic thing to do, especially considering how he died.

Yeah, and people have cats around babies too, how many babies do you suppose cat's kill every year?

More than crocs, that's for sure.

So if you have a young baby:

Get rid of the cat.
Don't get a house wolf.
Don't feed crocs while it's in your other hand.
Don't dangle it from a balcony.
Don't throw it down the stairs.
Don't try to dry it in ANY kitchen appliance.
Don't leave it outside in the rain.
Don't sell it to Gipsys'
Don't eat it.

Maybe people should print these out for future reference. That guy is responsible for that 1-month old life, and then after he's dead he's all-of-a-sudden Mr.Dad and the people who complained at the actual even are full of shit - gimme a freakin break.

No matter what, he shouldn't have had his kid that close. Something could have happened. Steve thought he was invincible, and he clearly was not.

If he'd lost an arm to the croc, that would have been terrible. I'd have felt bad for him. If his kid had lost a limb due to his arrogant recklessness, I would wish death upon him. There's would be no justification in the entire world to compensate for that. I'm certainly glad that nothing did happen.

Some of you might not have children, so it might be difficult to understand. If that is the case the just trust me, he was wrong. I'd no more dangle my kid near a crocodile than near a running lawn mower. Sure, it's probably safe, but why even put your kid in the way of something so dangerous?

I'm with you guys on that one, he is obviously not 5 frickin' metres away--- come on, use your brain. That is just as bad as Michael Jackson dangling his baby over a hotel balcony. Might have seemed perfectly safe at the time, but in hindsight it's idiotic.
