Hmmm. Isn't there a DB game being made called that in the WIP forum? Roman link coming a bit more obvious now?

Yes there is...but I can't remember how the freaking Empire ended, last time I studied the Romans was in year 4. I'm sure it's not the creator of that thread (Darth Kiwi)...so because Gil Givanti posted in there, I blame him, his name sounds almost Italian, maybe a guy called Givanti single handedly destroyed the Roman Empire...

Names to be taken from this game (it's a text adventure one) are

SURGAT
Alec
Professor Fitzroy

They mean nothing to me, but may mean something to somebody else.

As it's called Duality and from reading it, it seems there may be a God related tone, so I assume the ideas will be a Dualist approach to philosophy/religion, meaning they believe that the body and spirit are connected...could this be another link? I don't know, I'm really just hopping on my feet here...names to be associated with Dualism are Plato, Descartes and I can't remember the rest...these probably aren't unrelated unless somebody is able to find a relationship with all this and a member, because I can't.

Gah! I'm not the geek I thought I was! We'll get it eventually.

Bit of an attempt at humour perhaps? Not all of us are born comedians you know. Or perhaps an attempt to point us in the wrong direction... Hmmm... Who would do such a thing?

So the roman link is dying a bit, but nobody gonna pick up that bit about how the empire ended? Dudes...

Either that or have had a decent enough education or an interest that far back in history (I'm a Saxon (weird thing is I'm listening to the band right now), Angles and Viking man) , I have none of that.

I remember a little bit from a documentary I watch, so see if that helps as I can't be arsed with Wikipedia or Google. Wasn't there something to do with Byzantine and Constantinople and the Byzantines rose against the Romans...or something, I think somebody from the south east of Europe killed an Emperor or something...my memory is very vague about this...maybe the Romans and the Byzantines were friends and oh God dammit I can't remember - I know there was a rise in Muslim Culture around that time as well and that instead of the Romans who by that time were all for Christianity - I guess this popularity had something to do with Byzantine...

Damn, I wish my memory wasn't so damn vague about this program.

I can't afford TV License let alone Sky, what do you think I am made of money? See, students are poor, I got a friend who's studying history, I'll ask him if I see him, hehe might be a bit weird though...sitting at the bar - "So, how did the Roman Empire end?".

Yeah he has one of those Airplane style drinking problems...

I'd be drinking too, but I've designated Tuesday nights for that, despite my flatmates doing Thursdays...

Dazzag, you're confusing...I'm going to cry and throw kebabs at your windows whilst streaking, yeah sure I'd get arrested and would have to catch a plane to Cyprus, but I don't care, it'll be worth it.

Well Dazzag, pass us some rum and I'll work this thing out, because clearly it was thought out whilst the poster was in a drunk state of mind - so to beat him at his game is to think like him...

Hmm, I looked up some stuff, namely what Dazzag said. There are some hints of stuff in it.

Quote: "Blood fell in the valley of the damned. The lord of Fnarr was triumphant once again. It was 4 days since the start of the war of the solstice...."

The first part doesn't seem to fit... all I came up with is DragonForce (the band).

Fnarr doesn't seem to be a person, but a sound made when making a double entendre. It's noteworthy that the comic strip character, Finbarr Saunders, said Fnarr when hearing these sexual jokes. Likewise, the roman empire fell because of it split in half, namely the western half fell into disrepair (again with the reference to two).

This all leads back to duality and duplicity...

He seems to be making fun of us, lol. Islands could mean our guess at Australia and "Lost Civilisation" could mean Roman Empire. I think he says we're on the wrong track. What is our subject?

Quote: "I'll Tell You About The Past, Yes. I Am The First.

Icarus and Daedalus was a myth, of those guys with their wings, remember? Icarus flew too high and dies when the wax of his wings failed. What is "It"? The "King"? Why does he first say "I", then after the comma "We"?. Shizofrenic?

After going through a Yoda phase, I may or may not have been paying homage to a certain classic adventure game with tens of thousands of locations (if you printed every single move then you could win a competition where they would make it into a real published book). Quite why I was doing that may or may not have been beer or a clue. You decide...

Quote: "Fnarr doesn't seem to be a person, but a sound made when making a double entendre. It's noteworthy that the comic strip character, Finbarr Saunders, said Fnarr when hearing these sexual jokes"
Heh, again, either that is a made up word I have loved to use to take the mick out of people too serious about their RPGs after going to an RPG board game club and RPG real life club (plastic swords) totally hungover. You know, Sword of Fnarr and all that. Hehe. And just so happens to be the same word as a character from Viz (a very funny one; must find Viz out here...). Or it means something. I think you can fairly obviously decide on that one...

Quote: "it seems Dazzag has sussed it and the git won't tell us! Traitor"
Have I, or perhaps it is suspicious that I know so much? Strange how I'm not in the same room when whatsisface is around eh? Yep. Anyways, concentrate on the romans and how they lost everything. It's all in the detail.

I think Duality was the answer to, or a clue in, that post with the poem. Completely random, but I think the following 'clue' might be interesting:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=115287&b=8

I checked in after I noticed people felt Duality was a clue. Didn't find any clues in the topic except for that, which seems to have been posted just before the current clue.

I've got a kebab shop, burger joint, chinese, 2 home cinema shops (with projector setups), post office, grocery, 2 bakeries, 5 DVD shops (1 is 24hr), 3 or 4 hair dressers, a hardware shop, 2 computer hardware shops (small software collections though), petrol station, motorbike shop, 4 furniture shops, car shop, language school, martial arts school, fish shop, butchers, several doctors and dentists, pet shop, big arcade place, 3 banks, fairground place, a couple of travel agents, wine shop, internet cafe, 3 shoe shops, 2 clothes shops, kitchen accessories shop, and about 4 pharmacies (they love them here). Oh, and by the looks of it a hardcore porn shop right at the end of the street. Probably missed a few out there. I seriously don't have to go anywhere. Apart from the best game shops are about a mile away and so is the beach. Can't have everything... Because I am the laziest person on earth though I seriously love this street...

Some of this keeps pointed back to Alesius God, here God exist out of the boundaries of time...So does the Grim Reaper, but notice how he used a capital 'D' for Death - that's the name of the Grim Reaper, he has the power of time, but he says 'reverse Death'- this doesn't make sense, so I am going to say the capital 'D' was a mistake and not done on purpose.

Think of those with a 'necessary existence' forever exist as this seems to be what he is describing...

Of course he could be time itself - time is a character in Shakespeare's "A Winter's Tale" - maybe this character has relevance? Though I doubt it.

Lets look at the figures of Time, I already mentioned the Grim Reaper/Death - who else stands of time or the ages? Or who has unlimited existence other than God...

I'm just going to say it - Alesius God, I mean at this point it seems to me it can't be anybody else. I'm guessing 'Alesius' has something to do with Roman times and the fall of the Empire, the name is quite Romanesque.

Barbarian invasions, disease, unrest, inability to control such a large empire, and economic problems is all I can remember right now . Oh, wait, were religious differences/reform part of it? If so that could point to Aleseus God again.

Reason why it isn't Dazzag - we've given plenty of reason as to why it is him, we've said that it is him based on certain reasons - yet the mystery is still unsolved.

Also, it can't be Grandma, he's a Viking, Viking's aren't very smart.

Right...The Roman Bloody Empire - I've got some resources...on this...right which fall of the Roman Empire? The first or the second?

I wasn't far off with my memory, the second fall of the Romans was when they were in Byzantium and the Ottomans (Turkish) took them down in 1453ad.

The other so called end of the roman empire was when there was the Germanic 'Barbarian' Odoacer who was a leader in the Roman army - he deposed Romulus Augustulus who possibly was part of the Germanic ancestry. Odoacer saw that Augustulus wasn't really a threat, so he didn't assasinate him but sent him into retirement.

However there was one Roman Emperor left - Zeno (Xenocythe?? Maybe our culprit is Xenocythe) who lived in Constantinople. Odoacer became the first barbarian king of the western empire. And so a bloodless coup that ended the Roman Empire.

This is the story according to About.com

Some say the problem and why was down to the Christianity in Roman culture and religion - plus decadence and military problems.

The only link from that I can make is Xenocythe and he made the locked duplicate 'who am I' thread.

I don't know, but pros and cons won't really help I think. I guess the only way to really figure it out is figure out those damn clues (anyone know if Omen has something to do with Chrono Trigger?), or wait until the ten days are over...

I mean, he will tell us who he is after those ten days, don't you think?
