demon sun is a awesome game but i got my eye on some others.the list of games I like so far.

I think these type of games are very good. people try to down size fpsc. but you will not find fps games like these. turok is a very unique fps game and so are these great games. I played left 4 dead but I dont think there will be another game like it. A game like f.e.a.r is good and deadspace but you could never compare the two. demon sun is hitting some big numbers and may show how to create a real horror game. so you cant compare the unique way these games are. as far as graphic go's it doent matter at this point. I mean as far as 3d games go. graphic is always a plus in video games. but a game like golden eye for the n64 is still a fun game to play. I think a game like demon sun would be fun to play even after three years. as long as this game keeps going in the direction that it is on. the game cant go wrong. out of many games on here this game stand out. demon sun has some unique characters a unique way to make game.this game is so unique it belongs in a preview of a game magazine. so great job coz.

Awh, and I thought CoZ had figured out how to use the Noise funtions on Adobe! Dang, I must not be very good at explaining.

@CoZ Did you also take my advice and make several gaussian HUDs that alternate randomly, giving the appearence of an actual camera?

he takes request for pay, that'll be the only way you could get his shader but he did give away his old shader in chunks. Nice sceens i love the recording symbol at the top very nice

@All: I might have some time to post some DS shots today, although the contest entry has been taking Priority for a few days. You may think..."Why am I devoting all my time to a contest entry rather than my main project??". The reason for this is the fact that I am desiging 2 slightly different variants of each levels for the contest entry, and the best level out of the 2 will become part of the DS levels. So much of the progress you see on my contest thread could be considered WIP DS shots also!

Ill just post one here for anyone who hasnt seen it:

Animated huds are not a new idea in FPSC, in fact many folks have used them for some time now using the health heads system script as a base.

I`ve always liked you game and also played your Demos.

Some Real Talent here, your Screens look fantastic and athmospheric.

The only crtiique Point is your Lightmapping. It seams a bit misfitting to me. But other than that! Bring it on!

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Major News: I started revamping DS today after realising how unrealistic and generaly crap my old game dev style was after getting a harsh dose of reality from looking at such games as Meat and lifeless. Im pretty much re-designing all my levels, and using level art as a basis.

Here is a WIP Shot (It came out a bit dark sorry!)

COZ@ your game design was never boring, just consistent. if you got some good custom models that you have made then immediately it makes more interesting game design. that is the only reason that every screen from meat or lifeless has that wow factor, start making custom models as it will benefit your skills and eventually your game design. try building assets around your game, not the other way round

@Mazz426: Thanks for the helpfull tip, although lets take the above shot for example. Alot of the stuff is custom such as: All the textures, The Fences, The meshed Window, and I know you cant really see it in this shot, but the Door is also custom. I also make all my own sounds and shaders myself. So as you can see, quite alot of DS's assets are custom, although they are quite subtle

A green enter sign? Its also quite dark. Other than that it looks pretty good though.

@Robert F: Most international 'Exit' signs (Expecially in the UK) are fluorescent and glow in the dark in case of a power cut etc. This means that the sigsn can still be visible in the dark.

I understand that. Most are red though.. Am I not correct? I am trying to get at the color.

You said you were using photos as refference, could we take a look at those pictures. And another thing i dont see the major difference beteween the last two pictures and the pictures a couple of pages back. Just the green light. Looking good thought. Bit dark. And where is this taking place?

There is a huge difference. Lighting, Map design, Entity Placement, and general atmosphere to name a few. Thats why I suggested I start a new thread or something similar because I have pretty much ripped the old DS apart. The version that is in develoopment now is completely different in every way.

Firstly its not blue, Its a custom colour I made inbetween white and black. And also (Its not visible in the shot), but the light by the fence etc is coming from a window above.

i like the whole monochrome effect but mabey some colour would look good, mabey the signs should give off a green light or just some more colour. i dont know but they look good

Still, you should just turn off the shader on that light. It will make it look like its not lit.
