Somewhere. The Location was just because I'm obsessed with anime and wish I was Kenshin sometimes, and it takes place in the late 1800's in Kyoto and other japanese cities.

The texture is loaded with the load image "red.jpg",1,1 command :/
Or if you mean which part of the Make Particles command handles texture

Okay I found the command but it has the variable cur_spell with a +1 added on how do I change cur_spell so the texture numbers are 7 and 8?

I plan on implmenting good NPC's that give you quests, put I'm not good at figuring out what the cooardinates on the game world would be to position them. Pretty much I want them to be away from the enemies, to know where the enemies are check Doug's newest snippet. Label the object 1-10, as I would like 10 NpC's pretty close to each other, don't worry about talking and stuff, as I can handle that.

Hi gothboy. I sent you the code files, just remember it won't compile because Mojo and Magic did not put some of the includes into the download. But I think you can alot about turn based rpg battles from it.

I've been adding in usage of the mouse for spells, left click casts, right click changes, shift is now the attack button. Aynone know of good coordinates? Also how do you make color gradients in DB Pro, because I would like my meters to look nicer.

I use a simple method when I want to find out where an NPC should be... put the following code (or something similar... location of text can be easily tweaked and such) in the main game loop

Then, just run the game, move the hero to where you want the NPC and write down the co-ordinates that should be on the screen now

Can someone make me a very simple collision for any object within the game, as it relates to Doug's code, I also have an NPC with an object number of 5, I can not implement character interaction with collision, and I can't get the free NGC demo working, so if anyone can make some very simple collision, that would be appreciated.

My model is a box, and and the other's are spheres and boxes, so I'm thinking box collision would be the best way to go.

none sorry the reason it's been going slow is that i keep getting chewed out by my parents cuz i keep going to ZAP (zero's aren't permited) the reason i go is because we have a teaher that gives us to much homework and you cant remember all of it the whole class goes to ZAP

ya ive been sick (again) midtime going good although i lost the screens from it its goin good im waiting on the character modeler to finish and also i cant figure it out the box colision but if you need anything else ask me (as long as its not about a mmorpg cause i don't know those commands (yet)

Can someone explain how the enemy knows to move in this function:

I need to know how exactly this function works so I can implement movement into my friendly Ai.
Edit: I can make them move but they move everywhere, and I want them to stay in a defined area, which would be around their farm/house.

Collision:
Your code already has collision in many places, if the idea of this thread was "I think I can really work on the snippet if some one puts the effort, in it's just I need some base code to work with." you should be looking at all those instances of collision in your game and learning from them
Collision is occuring with the enemies upon the hero, the sword upon the enemies and my magical ball against the enemies also. It should work much the same way for an NPC :/

NPC AI:
I was going to just look at your function there and try to add some remlines, but there's some functions in there that I assume were custom written by Doug without adding any comment lines to explain wtf they're doing... you'd have to ask him what they do

Anyhoo.. NPC's moving around within a confined space... you will need when creating them to set up limits...
npc_lower_x(a)=yadda npc_higher_x(a)=yadda
npc_lower_z(a)=yadda npc_higher_z(a)=yadda
and those need to be set up with DIM statements (DIM npc_higher_x(30 etc...) so that each NPC can have seperate limits. the lower and higher variables will tell the game that he can't step outside of those limits... it's like a small (invisible) rectangle that he can't move out of

Im currently working on a Action adventure/RPG/1st + 3rd person shooter/Beat em up/COMEDY, its gonna be a basic FPS to start with but it will have a cool combat system and stuff when i get round to making the models , any ideas for it? Maps and weapons and stuff?

I'll make the ultimate game some day.....

Gary if it's for an MMORPG, then don't expect anyhelp, and you shouldn't really ask in this thread as the focus isn't multiplayer.
Tifu, the Yadda, should those be the coardinates of the rectangle? Or what? Sending Gmail Invite right now.

Double Edit: Itried messing around (adding variables where yadda and a were) but got nowhere, so what exactly should the array's variable represent? Mainly what I need to know is what should yadda be replaced with?

I kept forgettint to add the DIM command for the high x's and z's okay it's working now. Now on to collision. One last problem with AI, I have a house labeled object 3, my actual 2 npcs, are labeled 4 and 5, so when I set the ai so it actually works the house moves around too. How do I fix this?
Double Edit, fixed it, just ahd to change around the labels for each object.

hey i havent been around for a while basically the patrol code, at the beginning of the program two random point in space are chosen with the startx, startz and endx ,endz variables. then the function calculates if the enemy is near one of the points and based on that changes the move variable which controls which point the enemy moves to. if you want to have the characters move to exact places, you are better off making a small level editor.
