Im thinking of making a modern game with all custom media. I am focusing mostly on the weapons detail, weapon textures, and weapon animation before I start with characters and scenery.

All of you should make a list with 4-7 weapons and then vote on which 2 you would like me to make. Things like knives, axes, batons, bats, etc.

The Uzi is having problems. When I import .x models, the animations do not come with it. In an earlier post, I asked how to get the Uzi's animation into milkshape, but nobody answered. If I get it soon in .ms3d format, I will re-rig it and e-mail it to you. Sorry NIK, I am trying my best. If somebody is kind enough to do this, I will be greatful.

EDIT

If you want, I could re-animate it with my own animations which probably wont be aligned with the sound frames. Yes or No?

Here is a tutorial for retexturing weapons. If there are any issues with it let me know and I will fix it. I am using the Tavor as an example.

1.Make a folder in the "gamecore/guns" directory and name it "myguns".

2.Copy the Tavor folder from the directory "gamecore/guns/scifi" and paste it in your "myguns" folder and copy the Tavor files from the "entitybank/scifi/items" directory and paste them in the "entitybank/user" folder.

3.Edit the tavor texture and save it over the "gun_D2.dds" in the "myguns" folder as "gun_D2.tga".

4.Go to the "entitybank/user" folder and replace the .FPE with this one:

5.Start up FPSC and make a small room so that you can test your retextured gun.

6.Click the "entities" tab and add a new entity. Go under user and find "New Tavor".

7.Add some ammo around it and a player start marker.

8.Click "Test Game" and enjoy your new Tavor.

Thanks for that Havok. I'm a veteren level designer, but a beginner when it comes to all that other crap that I dont like.

One more question. The gun has changed when it is on the ground, but when I pick it up it changes back to the default. How do I change to my texture?

Sorry if I sound ignorant, this is the first gun I have made.
Here is a screeny on it.

BUMP

Sorry for the late post, but I really dont know why it didn't change the HUD.x texture. Sorry NIK.

EDIT

NIK, did you delete the original gun_D2.dds texture?

Havok ,

I am really impressed of your work. seems like you know what you do
have you seen my little trailer and the bump images ? I want to do a commercial game...but for this i need some custom weapons. not too complicated. so, heres my wishlist

1. Sledgehammer ( with arms ..i could draw the animation on paper )
2. Fire Axe ( with arms, too )
3. Chainsaw ( would be very nice
4. Scalpell ( dont know the english word...its used in hospitals )
5. Nail Gun ( which is used on building sites )
6. maybe a baseball bat with nails in it

i would draw all weapons on paper if you want.
These are all meelee except the nail gun. but the nailgun looks very simple.

So...what do you think ?

yeah...thats the ticket !

I will make 2 of those, which ones do you want the most? All that I want in return is in your credits or something, add this line: "Also, thanks to Havok!", or something like that (make it more clever than that lol...)

Hey guys, can any body post a tut for aligning weapons in milkshape? They show up in FPSC, but are upside down and backwards. I modeled and animated an AK-47 with hands, and positioned it as shown. In FPSC, it is positioned on the screen correctly, but is completely backwards! Is there a way to rotate it in the gunspec, or do I have to flip it around in milkshape? Please help me with this.

If you can with MS, edit the pivot point. Make sure it lines up with the floor.

It cloud also be your .x exporter. Is this the first time you have put your weapons into fpsc?

I dont think you can edit pivot points in Milkshape. After the AK47, I tried an Uzi and positioned it with the other Uzi, but it came out upside down. I will try one more weapon (mp5) and see if it works. If not, I will come back with more questions.

Direct .x (JT). For my static entities, I use Direct X 8.0 exporter. It works fine. But I think its just how I model them.

Nothing to do with the models, its the exporter. You should use the 3ds to x exporter, which is floating around here some where.

No thats okay, I'll just wait. Should be getting a modeling program here soon and hopefully I can do some of my own guns. If not I'll ask for your help. Nice AK.

Sorry Mr. Flowerkohl, but it seems that my Direct X exporter is screwing up the model positions. I need something like Bullshocks W.C.S so that I can position weapons correctly. Here is a picture of the sledgehammer with crows hands.
