of course , everybody knows you are 100% on this game
and you have noticed that i don't work a lot on it
but i was just complaining of the lack of reactivity in this forum , and i often complain too much

i'm busy on a lot of things but i hope that people are caring about this project , this would be a shame if not! can you imagine??

i'm preparing my next year in a school , whitch explains i can't work a lot on blackout anyway . i still planned to make the level editor script and improve the hand .

if you guys are interested , i can get you a full normal mapped model of a strong men , that i'm making in order to prepare my next year , it could be used in blackout without problems i think

BUTT guys will have to help me to get it ready , because i will focus on geometry , normal maps and maybe animation ...
the rest , i won't have time to do !

That looks awesome Glog. I assume that is a super smoothed version of the model for the normal map, we need it quite a lot lower poly for the game.

Indeed. The engine is not far off of being a complete deathmatch engine. All that would remain is to create some media to go with it. I work on this when I have time, but I have a packed summer, so time is limited. I too feel a bit disappointed when not much work goes on, but I feel that I am only one person, and I can't do everything. It's great when people do something every once in a while (like you do!). Maybe in the next few days I will get a little more done before I go away again.

I just checked in your demo, looks good as you have spent alot of time and effort on this i think.
But, you have collision problems with your level.
I suggest not making a tree collision for the whole level, instead just use serialization files for different parts(zones) of the level(s) that will gain you some cpu speed and less computing for newton. And revising the level because there are seaming parts that confuse the tree serialisation.
And i noticed some transparency issues.
Otherwise, looking good, good luck with it.

well , i personally don't understand why hamish did'nt uses
bsp stuff to makes levels , bsp is a ' industry standard ' Valve Hammer is free , and i'm sure there is open source bsp modelers around the web .

but this problem is the biggest one to solve i guess , after that ,
only remains the pleasure of making the game better everyday

Sorry to everyone experiancing problems with the blackout.gamersol.co.uk or www.blackoutgame.co.uk website links. I've only today become aware of the problem, and am supprised no one e-mailed me as I am the webmaster.

The long and the short of it is, that someone from these TGC forums has been targeting websites directly related to this community. www.openmmo.co.uk, www.gamersol.co.uk and of cause your own site have been affected.

Somehow, someone has found a way to redirect the domain names for the website, as the file structure on the servers remains the same as before.

I know it's someone from these forums because I operate 18 websites, and so far only websites that have been announced on here for major projects have been targeted. It's too localised to be anything else. Even www.openmmo.co.uk was affected breifly as was www.darkbasichelp.co.uk

I ask whoever is doing it to please stop. If you are really trying to put a meaningful message across. I have informed the police, and all server logs have been sent as well. If you keep up these attacks it will just make it easier for them to catch you. Stop now while you are ahead of the game, and please use your skills for something more constructive.

I logged on, and the site was hacked again. If this happens again I will withdraw hosting for this project. I have more interesting things to do with my time. I'm not getting paid for this after all. Sort out your project members or loose hosting, simple as that.

I've changed the FTP password several times, and yes they are altering website code. Either way, I've taken all reasonable procautions against hacking. It's an open source project, it's there to help people. I provide hosting for nothing, I designed the website for nothing. I run maintainace on it for nothing, and I provide technical support for nothing. A few hacks here and there, fine no problem but this is happening every few days now. I have better things to do with my time then tracking down altered files and restoring their code every few days.

If I was being paid I'd sit down and redesign the whole website, with a better, more secuire system. I'd restrict any access to SSH only, password protect certain directories and files, and run an IP sniffer to pick up any SSH or FTP attempts from anything but my own laptop. But that's a good week and a half of work on my part, plus there's additional costs for me envolved in that. I'm sorry, it's too much for a website that I don't get any direct benefit from hosting.

Why the hell would hackers want to keep hacking an Open Source project?
It's one thing once or twice, but why be persistant on the same site? Some people just don't make sense. Probally their idea of 'fun'. A bad idea.

Really i doubt they're actually hacking it themselves, these days they're probably just "script kiddies" and aren't demonstrating anything but their own boredom due to their social ineptitude.

Get a real life, please

[edit] now if they were truly doing it them selves i would at least be slightly impressed, as that takes some skill, but if they're just using some script they got off of their p2p proggy, then what's the honour or glory in that?

How secure is your website?
I was visiting hopeing to see what was new with this project but it seems be be down atm... with a rather uninventive "hack"

Hopefully you can make it more secure and bring it back up.

As Kenjar has withdrawn support (in a rude way IMHO) I am more than willing to host a site on my BlueHost account, but if you want a full domain you'll just need to give me the $10 via paypal, but I'll set you up a Joomla CMS, etc, etc. and a subdomain for free.

Why don't you just make the page using HTML and without some script that has more security holes than a used kevlar vest, then as I would do, add some lovely taunts referencing the hackers family and such.

Also, we have established they cannot spell 'Odyssey' , so they must be a gang of pirates that rome the seven seas.

actualy if you search spymeta in google not only do you find many sights hacked by him but forums where they have discussed hacking scripts, and people asking for help in fixing it.
