Not to mention 3DO, which predated Sony's machine by a year. Typical Sony elitism.

@Matt Rock - Did you read the report I posted where only 10% of the gamers in Japan are looking forward to the PS3?

And the PS2, when it was released here, was $499 CDN. That was $150-200 cheaper than a PS3. And the chief reason for PS3s extreme price is the Blue-Ray drive, which approx 5 people in the entire world are overly excited about.

And it's a little unfair to judge last generations Xbox failure as something that will certainly happen again, as that was MS' first gaming console. The other two (Sony & Nintendo) had launched console previously.

IMO the only reason the PS3 is slightly pwning the 360 in capabilities is because PS3 waited until Microsoft released it's specs so they could copy/add to what the 360 already had. A good business move, but with 360 releasing H3 on the same date that PS3 comes out, sales will be iffy on sale-day.

Im getting the 360, mostly because yes it doesnt release a lot of games, but the games it does release are extremely high quality. I hate to admit that Microsoft has made a quality product, but when you think about it you're comparing one of the richest companies in the world to an increasingly declining company (sony), so there's a good chance X-Box will eventually turn out to be the winner.

Plus, c'mon, Halo 3? Im sure there'll be a good chunk of the world orgasming over the release day itself, Halo's pretty much made XB what it is.

Quote: "and it's fully backwards-compatible, which the other two consoles are not"

Umm... yeah... You seem to forget that the Wii is backward compatible to the extreme. No, not all their original games cartridges will work on it, but games from all the systems they made that can't will be avaiable at your fingertips, not to mention a few non-nintendo systems as well.

Quote: "Sony is pretty much the biggest electronics corporation in the world. I'm sure they'll live if the PS3 takes a nose-dive (not that it will). The PS2 had one of the most expensive console debutes in Japan's history, shy of the 360. The real selling factor was its backwards compatability."

...You're a sony fan and don't follow sony's marketing plan? I'm not guessing that they're betting their entire company on the ps3 dominating the market. It's true. They really mean it when they said they spent billions and billions developing the ps3. I got some shivers when I read it, because although I don't like sony, I don't want to see it die. And from what I've seen, sony's coming into the the next gen market at a massive disadvantage. And the dvd player on the ps2 was what won it Japan. Again, a fact. The reason the dreamcast died when the ps2 came out was people were buying tons of ps2s simply because they were the cheapest dvd players at the time. You'll notice that more ps2s were sold at first than ps2 games.

And btw, I'm no microsoft fanboy, although I'm even less of a mac fanboy. If anything I'm a C&H fanboy, so don't you dare start talking trash about C&H or I'll Kil U.

Microsoft retracted that statement. They're now saying Halo3 will be ready when it's ready.

As Bizar said, it was the DVD feature. No body in Japan was interested in paying so much money for a DVD player at the time, but then boom! A console with a full DVD functionality, and it's much cheaper.

Matt, I'm going to be quite honest here, you're fighting a losing battle. You really need to take in all the facts. For one, Microsoft is gaining more support from Japanese developers, and with enough support, big Japan favorite titles will be released on the system. RE5 is a good example, it will be on 360 and Ps3, but graphically, most likeley the same, and I think I'd rather have the same quality on a cheaper system. Granted, the Wii is going to be cheaper than both, but it's not exactly getting RE5 as of now, all we know is that it's getting a special RE for Wii.

Well I doubt the 360 will come last and for your information brining it out first has made sony sweat because microsoft has a good grounding and a big head start on sony. Also the ps3 wont come down much in price because the hardware costs too much and sony wont wanna loose too much money. I think your argument is flawed and fanboyish.

Quote: "Typical Sony elitism."

So let me get this straight Jake... Mall-Wart can destroy local businesses left and right, Starbucks can move into a strip and take down local coffee, and in general, big business can exploit people and utterly destroy their competition, and that doesn't bother you even the slightest bit because you think it's all fair and the nature of the game and whatnot... but you draw the line when a company brags?

Quote: "Did you read the report I posted where only 10% of the gamers in Japan are looking forward to the PS3? "

It's not like they polled every gamer in Japan. If you poll a focus group, it's generally around 500 and hardly ever more than a thousand people, especially in Japan. If you poll other groups I'm 110% positive you'll get different results. The President of the United States has a 29% approval rating, but they aren't counting my vote (not that I'm pro-him, hehe)... it's all focus groups, and they aren't even that large. I bet if they did a national focus group, they'd turn up drastically different results (and to keep this from going political, I'll refrain from saying what direction they'd go, hehe). My point is, they asked a small amount of people, and if I was bored enough to go digging for polls, I'm willing to bet I could turn up polls where Sony has dramatic leads.

Quote: "IMO the only reason the PS3 is slightly pwning the 360 in capabilities is because PS3 waited until Microsoft released it's specs so they could copy/add to what the 360 already had. A good business move, but with 360 releasing H3 on the same date that PS3 comes out, sales will be iffy on sale-day."

The PS3 announced virtually the same specs several months before the 360 was released. They were posted in Game Informer magazine, almost identical to what they're going to actually be, and back then everyone on these forums said "oh god Matt, you don't know that, gaming magazines lie, Sony is going to change them." Well, Game Informer didn't lie, Sony didn't change them very much (just a bit less ram). I expected them to make this console stronger than the competition... after all, the xbox dominated the PS2 in specs (see? I can admit when my side does something wrong/ loses at something), so you'd have to be a fool to expect Sony not to do everything in their power to out-perform the 360. And, as Bizar pointed out, they aren't going to release Halo 3 when the PS3 is released... probably because Microsoft is smarter than that. Halo is a popular game, yes, but popular enough to destroy the biggest console series in history? Unless your name is Tyrone Biggums, I can't see how you could come to that conclusion, and I couldn't understand it back then, either. Grand Theft Auto Vice City, the PS2 version (not counting the xbox version whatsoever) outsold both Halos 2 to 1, according to Game Developer Magazine (and no, they don't take sides... ever, from what I can tell). I don't think Sony was worried even remotely when they heard Gates say that.

Quote: "Plus, c'mon, Halo 3? Im sure there'll be a good chunk of the world orgasming over the release day itself, Halo's pretty much made XB what it is."

Very true. It's been said by many that if it weren't for Halo, the last xbox would have been just that... the last one to roll off of Microsoft's console line. And I'm glad they developed it, because (unlike someone I know ) I like competition (sorry, hehe, had to say it & just messing with you Jeku)

Quote: "You seem to forget that the Wii is backward compatible "

I keep reading that the Wii's backwards compatability is only going to have about 1/3rd the amount of games as the PS3 (which is fully backwards compatable)... maybe I misread something?

Sony can afford to blow billions of dollars. Do you think making the 360 was cheap? Sony is the #1 manufacturer of home electronics in the world, and while the PS2 made a crap-load of money, it only made up about 20% of their total net profits. They make well over one hundred-billion dollars per year, mostly taken in from TV's, DVD players, Home Theater systems (which even I don't like that much... too "tinny" imho), and computers. Oh yeah, and don't forget about their movie division, which is a top competitor in the top three largest movie companies in the world. And all of this on top of MASSIVE losses that they've suffered in the past four or five years consecutively... you simply can't stop Sony, no matter how much some people wish they'd die. Even with the PS2 sales dropping horribly since the 360 came out (and somehow, it's still holding its own, which I don't understand), Sony earns more than Panasonic, Magnavox, and Phillips combined. They can afford to blow 7.1 billion dollars developing a console, and even if the PS3 bombs horribly, they'll survive and still be enormous.

Quote: "Matt, I'm going to be quite honest here, you're fighting a losing battle. You really need to take in all the facts. "

What facts? No one has given me one reason to believe the 360 will have even a fleeting chance at outselling the PS3, and to even further back my beliefs, I've REPEATEDLY tried to get one of you scaredy-cats to take a bet with me on which console will be #1, and NONE of you are willing to step up to bat.

Quote: "Well I doubt the 360 will come last and for your information brining it out first has made sony sweat because microsoft has a good grounding and a big head start on sony. Okay, if we're going to start in with flaming let the record show I didn't start it. First of all, the PS3 is (A) the technically-superior console, (B) introducing a new technology which a lot more than "5 people" are interested in seeing, (C) FULLY backwards compatible, AND (D) a part of the most successful and popular series of consoles in HISTORY, except *arguably* the Atari 2600 and original NES (and btw, even with market inflation, the PS2 outsells the 2600 hand-over-fist). Historically, whenever a console releases well before its competition, it LOSES. Why? Because people already have it, and the new thing is more interesting. Is Sony sweating? Hardly. If anything, they're counting on history to repeat itself, AND IT WILL, and if you disagree, why not take my bet. The PS3 WILL come down in price within 6 months of its release, as EVERY OTHER PLAYSTATION has done, because by then they'll have mass-produced a crap load of them and the manufacturing costs DECREASE WHEN YOU MAKE A LOT OF SOMETHING (you just earned a Carlos Mencia "duh duh-duh"). You think my arguements are "flawed and fanboyish," but you're too afraid to take my bet? Why would you when (A) you know I'm right, and (B) you could just pull in with childish flaminess. Admiral, more than anyone on here, I want YOU to make this bet with me. Come on, we'll go for a small amount: $5, $10, $100... you say the numbers and I'll back up my mouth with my pocket. BUT, and this only applies to the Admiral for the cheesy pseudo flame, if I'm right, you not only need to pay me, you *also* need to make a website and write "Matt was right and is god, I was wrong, I bow humbly before him and accept him as my lord and savior" 1,000 times, without using copy and paste, and submit it to google. And if you're right, I'll pay you and do the same. AND, I will NEVER AGAIN post any liberal comments, or talk about Radiohead or New York, or do anything else that annoys people on here, ever again. Deal? Surely, if my arguements are that stupid, you'll make this bet with me If my arguements are this "flawed" and "fanboyish" then what do you have to lose? Come on. I'm betting you $(n) that the PS3 will dominate the market within 6 months of its release, and it will drop its price within 6 months as well, and if I'm wrong on EITHER count, you win. I openly dare you to make this bet with me bud

I bet you $50. I honestly do. They will lose, and simply because you seem to only be looking back at previous generations, and saying they are successful, so ps3 will be, is a lie. And you know what, you *are* a liberal, and a successful one at that. You do the trick about "I am a liberal, all you are to scared to face the facts that I am the only liberal on the forum". Honestly, it gets annoying to listen to constant jibberish from you. First off...

Your comment on Jeku was un-needed. You just blew it out of preportation. What he was saying for a fact is that this certain company likes to brag about itself, and overly does it, he never included anything on other companies *this* time.

Second, your "cunning" remarks on the polls and trying not to be political (even though you clearly were, and trying to be at that), had nothing to do with it, besides the fact it was about a poll. You truely dont know the outcome of a big poll, so dont try and act like you do.

Third, no, the 360's specs were patented and designed before the ps3's, but the ps3's were in a magizine first, big frickin woop, they are just trying to get more hype.. Then on to halo 2 and 1, so what if it outsold it? The game is being ported to the 360 now, so boo-hoo sony fans just lost the big title that can outsell halo 2 (now 360 can have the version too, and if I know gamers, they will go for halo 3 AND gta console, more carnage...)

Fourth, You really should compare more than 2 sources matt, as wherever you got the wii facts is completely lieing their hats off. Sure sony will survive, we arent against sony the company, we are just saying tbe ps3 will lose, you are the one that are bragging around all that microsoft sucks, 360 sucks, xbox sucks, ect...

I accepted your bet, I am not scared, as I know I will win.

Wow ps3 prices will go down in a few months to the same as the 360 current price?!? whats that jonny?!? 360 price is already going down because it has been out more months, and will be out even more when ps3 is released?! Really, and wii will be cheaper anyways?!

Historically?! Historically?!? wtf matt, when something is released first, it usually WINS. Look at the Ford Model T! Look at the bronze spear, look at the first PC's! Look at Mac's! Look AT WINDOWS (2000 is STILL outselling xp in corporate and foreign markets)! Not enough? Look at popular beers! The first ones out make more money, like the ones that started that crappy light beer craze, they won (it was a big company, like bud light I think)! Using your own logic against you, PS2 was out before 360 and "according to you" it is winning...so explain these things to me..

Your basing your arguments on the ps2 mate this is a new generation and a clean slate and I bet you numbers will be a lot closer than the last generation. As for blue ray its a waste of money they will never use that space and it wont make the games any better only more expensive. Id gladly take that bet in which the 360 will do better than you expect. I doubt you have one so you dont know all the great features you had. As for your example of big companies ruining the bussines in this stance sony is the giant and their the ones tearing down cafes not microsoft. Also sony and microsoft have predicted similar sale numbers so dont even talk about the 2 : 1 thing. Also about the halo sales i bet microsoft made more money even if they got less sales which by the way is incorrect because halo made a worldwide record break with is grossing and sales. And the ps3 not more powerful sure the numbers are higher but the tech behind the 360 at a greater level so those lower numbers are actually more powerful. Sony has been sweating they even said it themselves. Anyway you are a fan boy why else would you defend it so aggresively.

Dude, this is an internet forum. None of us know who you really are, therefore none of us will bet you money. If it was a buddy you go to school/work with everyday, then a bet could be arranged.

I agree with everything being said here. Just buy looking at people's responses to E3, the PS3 is seriously under-water at the moment.

Only reason the ps3 would be more powerful would be because they released it after the xbox360. I have a strong suspicion the ps3 didn't even exist until after the 360 was released. Not a sporting move but a good business one...

360 WILL make more money because it will be out longer, its the first next gen console released, pretty simple really unless no one buys one from now till whenever the hell any other console is released.

As far as wii vs 360 vs ps3? Since the wii and ps3 arn't even out yet, i'l go for the console with the better games from the previous consoles and the one with good customer service, so personally I'll go for the 360 and/or the wii. The 360 simply because i've actually tried it and the wii because I own a large collection of GC games.

Sony has the WORST customer service in the world so I've decided to not buy anything they make ever again. The scars in my wallet are still here today, and also the mental scars from fixing their laptops... *shudder*

i honestly dont care which console "wins", who gives a crap, its pretty clear that none of them are going to flop, so theyre all gonna have decent support from developers, which means youll get good games for whatever system you think fits you the best.

You can't keep using the "more games" argument, the bad/good game ratio is different for all the consoles, so therefore the Wii may have less games, but the PS3 may have more sucky games.

well the previous 7generations? of consoles have just basically added better graphics but now theyve almost reached a peak as the graphics imo cant improve by much compared to earlier years and the fact that wii adds something new to the table other than some useless blu ray drive will make it succeed imo.

I think this thread is lame and should be locked.

Conclusions that were reached many, many posts ago: Matt Rock likes PS3. The Wii has some unique features. The XBOX 360 is already out.

Finally: NOBODY ACTUALLY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT WHOS GOING TO WIN 'THE CONSOLE WAR' THIS TIME because it HASNT HAPPENED yet. This is going round in circles.

Megaton is right. Matt, did you look at the E3 videos? They had a camera set up by the front doors, and as soon as the place opened every day, every single person went immediately toward the Nintendo booth. It was clearly the most popular booth at the industry, and that is not up for question.

I have a hard time believing Vice City beat Halo 1 & 2 combined. Halo 2 broke sales records, even earning more in a single day than any movie in its first weekend, ever. Show me the facts, and if I'm wrong I'll admit it.

^^^ EDIT (it doesn't work)

Matt - Speaking on Sony elitism, did you hear Phil Harrison's (Sony rep) latest fun-filled quote?

Quote: "
We believe that the PS3 will be the place where our users play games, watch films, browse the Web, and use other computer functions. The PlayStation 3 is a computer. We do not need the PC.
"

Riiiigh--- so people will give up their PCs for a PS3? What alternate dimension do these people live?

Oh yeah, and a big congrats to Nintendo for getting the E3's Best of Show, *and* Best Hardware awards. Us gamers must be blind for not giving that to Sony!

Anyways, I just took the plunge and bought a 360 yesterday, with Call of Duty 2. I am super stoked about hooking it up to the net and downloading demos (especially the new Ghost Recon, which looks amazing). Just waiting for Splinter Cell, Gears of War, and of course Halo 3

Quote: "Second, your "cunning" remarks on the polls and trying not to be political (even though you clearly were, and trying to be at that), had nothing to do with it, besides the fact it was about a poll. You truely dont know the outcome of a big poll, so dont try and act like you do."

Quote: "Third, no, the 360's specs were patented and designed before the ps3's, but the ps3's were in a magizine first, big frickin woop, they are just trying to get more hype.."

Quote: "Then on to halo 2 and 1, so what if it outsold it? The game is being ported to the 360 now, so boo-hoo sony fans just lost the big title that can outsell halo 2 (now 360 can have the version too, and if I know gamers, they will go for halo 3 AND gta console, more carnage...)"

Quote: "you are the one that are bragging around all that microsoft sucks, 360 sucks, xbox sucks, ect..."

Quote: "Wow ps3 prices will go down in a few months to the same as the 360 current price?!? whats that jonny?!? 360 price is already going down because it has been out more months, and will be out even more when ps3 is released?! Really, and wii will be cheaper anyways?"

Quote: "Historically?! Historically?!? wtf matt, when something is released first, it usually WINS."

Oh man, this is going to be SO MUCH FUN:

Quote: "Look at the Ford Model T!"

Which didn't have ANY competition and was LITERALLY the first mass-produced car in the world. When competition came around, numbers started dropping. And today, where's ford? Because they're not on the top-ten list of automakers... probably because their vehicles suck.
Quote: "Look at the bronze spear"

Do you mean the ancient battle device? The one that came around in the BRONZE ERA? They didn't have any other weapons back then genius. I'd take a Glock 9mm over a bronze spear any day of the week.
Quote: "look at the first PC's!"

What about them? The IBM's of yesteryear didn't have much competition either, and they weren't exactly top-selling machines I should mention. Home computers weren't a very successful industry until the mid-1990's, anywhere in the world. Shy of the movies "war games" and "Jumpin' Jack Flash" most people had never even SEEN a home computer back then. We did, because my dad worked at IBM, but most people just thought they were for geeks and losers.
Quote: "Look at Mac's!"

What about them? They're the ONLY company that makes Macintosh hardware... biiig surprise their number one in a field where they're their own competition. And how many PC's are sold to every Mac? Humor me.
Quote: "Look AT WINDOWS"

Uh, look at Windows' competition their smart guy, It's Linux, and that's it. God, you're using some horrendous examples.
Quote: "Look at popular beers! The first ones out make more money,

[quote]Using your own logic against you, PS2 was out before 360 and "according to you" it is winning...so explain these things to me.."

Quote: "Matt got pwned, to say something in this thread"

You just earned a Carlos Mencia "duh duh-duh." How can you pwn someone when half of the time you didn't read what they said, OR make any sense when you commented?

Now on to the Admiral:
Quote: "Your basing your arguments on the ps2 mate this is a new generation and a clean slate and I bet you numbers will be a lot closer than the last generation."

My point is: History repeats itself. Every time a new Playstation comes out, everyone gangs up on it and claims it will lose. It hasn't yet, and it won't this time either.

Quote: "Id gladly take that bet in which the 360 will do better than you expect."

The bet I made is that the PS3 will outsell the 360 and drop in price. If you want to take that bet, then please, please name an amount.

Quote: "Also about the halo sales i bet microsoft made more money even if they got less sales which by the way is incorrect because halo made a worldwide record break with is grossing and sales"

I don't understand that. How can you make more money if you sold less units at the same price? And no, Halo did not break any sales records. Halo 2 is on the top-10 list, but that's as close as it gets to breaking any records.

Quote: "And the ps3 not more powerful sure the numbers are higher but the tech behind the 360 at a greater level so those lower numbers are actually more powerful"

Okay, this one you'll definitely need to clarify for me. If the numbers are lower, then how can it be "at a greater level?" How can lower numbers be more powerful than higher ones? I have a dual-core Vaio @ 3.0 GHz and my girlfriend's Dell has a Celeron at 2.53 GHz... but somehow my girlfriend's Dell is better than my Vaio? Please clarify this!

Quote: "Sony has been sweating they even said it themselves"

I'd love for you to attempt to prove this. Sony admit their worried? You're more likely to see Bush admit to being an idiot (THAT, Steve, was me being political, unlike before)

Quote: "Anyway you are a fan boy why else would you defend it so aggresively"

So what if I'm a fanboy? The only people who make the word "fanboy" an insult are xbox fans... bitter at losing all of the time has that effect I suppose

And lastly,
Quote: " have a strong suspicion the ps3 didn't even exist until after the 360 was released."

Again, not true. Plans for the Playstation 10 exist (not technical specs obviously, but on numerous occasions Sony has talked about the series going on forever and ever). The PS3 was unveiled before the 360 and images of it were released before the 360's were. Again going back to game developer magazine, they had a full magazine devoted to the PS3 several months before the 360's full magazine was printed, and the 360 came out first, which should be a tribute to how long the PS3 has been in the works. I like Sony because they always think a few steps ahead... I'll bet they've probably already discussed the PS4, not publically, but are they planning on it? Totally.

I'm sorry for the outburst and the mega-super thread, but Steve REALLY got me riled up. I'm used to fighting one-sided battles... I do it in 60% of the threads I post in. But this was a debate until flaming started, and now it's on, so... (in a code snippet to make this shorter)

Anyway, here's the list of the top selling console games according to Game Developer Magazine, in a code snippet to try and shorten this post as much as possible:

Sorry! Well, I'm the only person defending te PS3 on here and with so many people talking to me at once I don't have much of an option. But I'll try to keep my posts shorter. In that last one I tried to shorten it with code snippets but I messed up somewhere in there. Woops

This thread is screwed up. Edit button broken, all text is stretched painfully to the side, and we got a raving lunatic from NY flailing his arms around and running in a circle.

Funny, I just typed in Halo 2 sales record in Google and came up with several matches.

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_zdpcm/is_200411/ai_n7181818

Okay, so I was wrong about it surpassing GTA San Andreas, but Halo 2 was #2 according to this:

http://retailindustry.about.com/od/seg_toys/a/bl_npd012703.htm

And if Xbox's only real competition comes from the GTA franchise, well then it's moot now as, like has been said half a dozen times already, the game is going to be released simultaneously across both platforms.

Well if you had a dual core 1.5 ghrz then t would probably out perform that 2ghrz del anyway its not important its been proven that the 360 can hold its own with the unified shader architecture and what not. Halo2 did break sales records we have all showed you that microsoft made billions from the halo francise.

Graw is a great game, and make sure check out the Lost Planet e3 demo from the market place.

I'd suggest picking up a copy of Rockstars Table Tennis it is by far one of the most intense and fun online games available for 360 at this time and for a $39 price tag, it is amazingly well put together graphics, animations, physics, audio is all top notch even if it is just table tennis.

I know you're kidding, and you're not my type anyway so zip your pants up Anyway, sorry guys, but the stuff Steve was saying, attempting to flame without even reading what I'd written or attempting to use facts whatsoever, that got me riled up... I'm calmer now. For everyone's sake Steve, don't be silly, because then I make epic posts like that

Quote: "Funny, I just typed in Halo 2 sales record in Google and came up with several matches."

I dunno, I just know what GDM said about it. NPD group had wildly varied results, too, putting Halo 2 at 3rd place, GTASA in second, and mario64 at #1.

Quote: "And if Xbox's only real competition comes from the GTA franchise, well then it's moot"

It isn't though. Metal Gear Solid 4, Gran Turismo 5, and several other games will be vying for the top spot on the PS3 lineup.

Quote: "Woaw', I never knew you were from NY!"

I'm going to take that as sarcasm, hehe... I think everyone hates that I talk about living in NY so much... me and re are constantly picked on for it

Quote: "Well if you had a dual core 1.5 ghrz then t would probably out perform that 2ghrz del anyway its not important its been proven that the 360 can hold its own with the unified shader architecture and what not."

Every statistic on earth points to the PS3 having a slight advantage of the 360 in terms of power, and you're the only person on the planet arguing against that, hehe.

Quote: "Halo2 did break sales records we have all showed you that microsoft made billions from the halo francise."

GTA outselling Halo, GTA being the fastest-selling console game in history, and GTA outselling Halo. While Halo was easily the top-selling XBox game of all time, there's a lot of other games that have outsold it. You have to keep in mind that the XBox wasn't as popular as some other consoles, and that restricts the total number of sales it could possibly have.

I heard this afternoon that Microsoft is planning on making a portable... is this true?!? And if so, why can't I find it online?

(Was this one short enough for you ben? )

Where is this information found at?

Only thing i have every seen would be system specs from 2005 e3 which clearly put the 360 with more muscle power then the ps3. Of course those are year old specs and if sony has changed something since then well i haven't heard of it.

XBOX 360 / PLAYSTATION 3 PERFORMANCE COMPARISON

SUMMARY
Now that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 specifications have been announced, it is possible to do a real world performance comparison of the two systems.

There are three critical performance aspects of a console:

Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance.

The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell.

Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance

The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU.

Memory System Bandwidth

The memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times.

Here is the link i have read from.

Ok just to start matt...

First off, you dont understand metaphors, or generalizations that well do you? (even though you seem to be good at them) Yes it would be stupid, yet that is the attitude you bring with you, and you use it as a last resort. I dont hate you, and I in no intention had it meaning that way, but you seemed to be going "nahnah I dont want to hear your advice or info, nahnah".

Second, if it is an inside joke, why not keep it...inside? just a suggestion for future inside jokes.

Third, They werent, and obviously you not understanding that remark proves what I was trying to prove. Yes you could have proved it with that, and get politics all jumped into it, but why not use something none political to prove your point. As a "big" poll, I meant the sony poll. You dont know what the result will be, but you are acting like you do.

Fourth, You read the quote you were quoting, you were responding to it different than what he said. lol.

Fifth, as you yourself prove, sony already had a large group of fans for the ps2 at this point. You cant compare someone who doesnt have that much money, and buys the first system (advantage of 360), with the person who has tons to spare..

And now for the marvelous information you provided. Who said I was quoting you on the bottom part of my thing (about the xbox360 costs)? I never did, you seem to be making assumptions that my entire point is aimed against you, and that I hate you. Makes me very cross indeed

Now you resort to name calling. While I agree some of those things (like the spear, ect) are stupid, I couldnt edit my post when I made that. I did it at 12pm at night, and I hope you understand. As far as intelligable, why do you insult me? You can say you hate me, but how can you hate one whom you do not know?

Wii rules.

Steve, your article came across as flamey, and I HATE flamey, and I tend to show my teeth when people do that. If you honestly take back that attitude, then cool, sorry for blowing up But if you go back and read what you've written it says:
Quote: "Wow ps3 prices will go down in a few months to the same as the 360 current price?!? "

See how easily I could have interpreted that as you miswording what I'd said?

Quote: "Where is this information found at?"

The PS3's specs and here they are again
The PS3 is faster on all fronts except the RAM... it has a bit less in that department. But this sacrifices weight... the PS3 is going to be a hefty 11 pounds.

Also, the launch price is NOT $599, unless you get the better package. The standard PS3 with the 20 gb hard drive will be released at $499 (the same price as the second wave of PS2's), and yes, Kutagari has mentioned that Sony will drop the price of the PS3 at some point in the future, as have a few other executives (my guess? Within six months of release, as they did with both the PS1 and PS2... I even have money on it now ). And about their title lineup:
Quote: "Judging by the PlayStation 3's ever-growing game list, Sony isn't having a difficult time getting developers and publishers to sign on to produce games for the new system.
Our favorite PlayStation game franchises and developers will certainly make the transition to the new system. Sony trotted out several new games during its E3 press conference last year, most notably Metal Gear Solid 4 from Konami, Epic's Unreal Tournament 2007, Tekken 6 from Namco, and Vision Gran Turismo from Polyphony Digital, and Sony later revealed its Japanese lineup at the Tokyo Game Show in September 2005."

Metal Gear, Gran Turismo, Tekken, and DMC are all top-of-the-line franchises that have a long history of earning decent amounts of money (even though I hate Devil May Cry). I know there's talk that DMC might make it to the Wii, but (A) I can't back that up with a link, and (B) you Wii people can have it for all I care because I hate that game

The only thing that I'm NOT looking forward to with the PS3 is their getting rid of the force feedback... I'm praying they fix that in the future. But otherwise, they got rid of the batarang, and they made it larger, so I'm cool with the new controller I want to know though... what's so hard about making the new controller vibrate? I know someone with a vibrating mouse and that's wireless

You understand that maybe that is biggest selling console game of all time? The figures I linked to were from the biggest selling console games of 2004.

Hey, if you don't want Blue Ray, that's fine with me. By the way, the cheapo PS3 will *NOT* be upgradeable to Blue Ray. Hehehe. At least with the 360 you can decide to go with the HD, the HD-DVD, etc.

Oh come on Matty, you know me better than to know I don't quit when the going gets... uh... impossible... um... maybe you have a point here But still, with all of the crazy things that Sony has accomplished in the span of their existence, like making music portable for the first time (long before the IPod there was the Walkman, silly kids and their ipods ) and all of that other stuff, don't you think they should be able to make that work? Am I the only person who thinks it could be done with a little ingenuity?

Quote: "You understand that maybe that is biggest selling console game of all time? The figures I linked to were from the biggest selling console games of 2004."

Oh... nevermind lol I can admit when I do something stupid well, most of the time

Quote: "Hey, if you don't want Blue Ray, that's fine with me"

The cheapo PS3 will have blu-ray... where did you hear it wouldn't? Every PS3 game will be made using that technology and I don't think they'll even run without it. It doesn't rightly matter in either case because the price will drop a few months after its initial release. I'll bet I can even get the prices right, lol: $299 and $399. Any takers on that bet?
