Actually I meant to change this one as it's almost impossible, but I forgot about it. I mean big Hint 3 would be some of the objects in the picture are some of the smallest objects known to man. And it still wouldn't help (unless you saw the article a couple of days ago). Cos I feel a bit bad then attempt this one, that does have some hope of getting the answer.

Quote: "cross section of a door handle"
Nope
Quote: "inside a lock"
Nah.
Quote: "pencil sharpener?"
No
Quote: "razor blade?"
No
Quote: "knife sharpener?"
Nope

Hint 1 : The full object is quite small
Hint 2 : It is quite a common object. Chances are that you have at least seen or used one yourself
Hint 3 : There is a strong link to boys
Hint 4 : There is a strong link to a country

Close. It's actually the top of the sharpest object in the world. Basically a pin. Those black and red things are atoms apparently. The point of the pin is a single atom. Bet that cuts deep.

To be precise it is "the tip of a tungsten needle". Apparently some bloke at a Nanotechnology institute made it.

Oh right. Well yes it is. So what is the object?

Here is the link for the needle.

My thought though is aren't needles supposed to inject you with stuff? If so then how can it if the tip is only one atom? Pretty sharp though.

Yeah, I was going to say some Google Earth landscape. Considering this board, then I would take a stab at Area 51. And no, I cannot be bothered to click on the icon to my left and find out (did it before and my memory isn't good enough to remember what Area 51 looked like).
