Im stepping down as a mod on my own accord.
I just want to be a user and enjoy the product again.
I guess that means there is a mod space up for grabs.

As a last hurrah, you should n00b slap 3 random people.

Or 4 if you dislike odd numbers.

I can understand that being a Mod must eat up a lot of 'unpaid' time of yours.

I personally think you've been a good, albeit tough, Mod and that you've served the community well.

Big shoes to fill!

That's too bad. I personally think you shouldn't step down. Just take a break for a few days, let things cool off. Hasty decisions are most often regretted.

Im sure there will be times indi will regret not being a mod anymore, but in the time he was/is he was good at it, but I can see that it would get boring.Anywho, think over it first(unless you already have) then make your decision.

As good as this sounds for some people, your stepping down from mod to user (sorry Indi, sometimes me and a few others think you go a bit overboard). I'm going to miss looking for topics you locked for no really good reason Indi! Seriously, it was part of the whole drama and attitude of this forum, reading all the arguments your mod powers have caused, mysteriously locked topics But it's probably better this way, there won't be such a division between you and everyone else, we can all be friends again and let someone else do the slapping and locking, heh, maybe you'll get a slap sometime

Thanks for never booking me for some of the religious/evolution arguments I've sparked.

indi,

I don't know what to say. In getting to know you, I am sure that you gave this a lot of thought. So I feel as though there is no advice to give. I respect your decision, but perhaps TGC can allow you to take a break for a few months and resume your MOD status when and if you decide. Not sure if that is anything you want, or if it's something that could even be considered.

[edited slightly]
Regardless of whether or not your user profile shows MOD or not, I have come to learn the type of person you are. No one here shoots straighter than indi. You have always been true to yourself and your commitment to this board and users. While there has been controversey over some of your decisions, I see now that your reasoning was in concert with TGC's AUP, and principles that benefitted the community as a whole. Understanding that all mods go through a process of finding their style, balancing their own personal feelings, and defining a window of flexiblity. Not everything in life is as clear cut as binary (1,0). In that regard I think your style was solid, equal "across the board", and impartial regardless of poster/status. That in itself is not easy to do, and can disturb the nest - so to speak. I feel that you maintained an openess to evaluate your decisions, but you were not solely influenced by popularity or fleeting oppinions of the day. Rather you stuck to what you felt was in the best interest of members here.

I have a lot of respect for you and will continue to have that respect. You have truly mentored me! For myself, it's hard to not feel as though a giant is stepping down.

In the last month or so, I finally got to see a glimpse of what you are truly about. And when it comes down to it, it's hard to believe that there is an actual person out there who is as pure, real, giving of time and heart and soul, and devoted as you. You are truly amazing, & talented, and yet have remained MODest. I can't thank you enough for the amount of help both in coding, and in life matters you have given me.

I can only hope that this decision will not come to mean that you will be around here less. While you are entitiled and have earned time for yourself, you have been the most active person (along with TDK) on the dbpro related boards. Every MOD puts in a lot of time, especially in their specialty areas (like batvink on the news letter) but YOU, Ianm, and TDK, are so dedicated to helping out anyone on any issue.

I will always consider you a leader around these parts. A person who as inspired me to be better, think clearer, and give more. You are a great MOD, Artist, person, & friend. You are a giant among men, and a man among boys (at times). Your work, honesty, values, leadership, integrity, dedication will never be forgotten. Thanks for all you have done here indi. I wouldn't be the person I am without having come across you in life.

Sincerely,
~ZENassem

most aren't handsome. But think of the stereotypical pimp (coat, feather hat, the car) and I saw him several years ago coasting down the street in an old 50's PINK cadillac! I'm talking rear fins and all. It was a nice car, and then to notice the driver and his fur coat and hat, I thought I walked onto a hollywood set or something.

Oh, and I'd like to nominate Wolf for the replacement mod.

To indi-

I haven't really had the chance to speak with you through threads or e-mail as much as I would have liked, but its been wonderful gettting to know you here on the fourms.

Though it saddens me to hear you are stepping down, I also can understand the strain that the modship could put on you after an extended period of time. So with that..Welcome back to usership.

I have to say its going to be odd to see your posts and not have them with that mod symbol but I will always remember what you were, a good mod. *though i know some people would disagree with me*

So good luck, I hope to see you on the fourms in discussion.

Wow, this is kinda like when a prison guard ends up in prison, you do know you'll have to knife-fight a noob before you'll get any honour, respect, or ping pong.

Sad to see you peel off your badge, but if this helps DT get finished then it will be worth it.

Pretty much what I said to him, although without the "sad to see" part. It's weird how the response to this is similar to if he quit the force after a few years. Still guess it makes sense with that sort of comparison.

Good man! Hang up them guns (they've seen plenty of use) and take a breather. I'm sure as an ex-mod, you will always have the option of returning if you're needed, so no harm in taking a break.

Here's to your first n00b slap.

(Edit: For the record, I dont think it's hasty or unnecessary, or anything like that. It's not like a massive life changing step, and it's totally reversible, so I'd say take a break, it's all good).

To those who gave me a positive, I thank you.
To those who treat is a joke, I feel sorry for you.

I just want to enjoy the software again.

Im not interested in being exposed to the uglier side of the forum.
I started in this community with a passion for the language and the fun of exploring it.

I have seriously paid my dues helping out, and have done so for free, for many years, nearly a decade in fact.

I would prefer to focus more on developing ideas and creating media.
Respect my own personal decisions to step down and be a user again.

I would expect my user status to be effective soon, its the least amount of respect i should be shown for such a long haul.

Was being a mod really slowing down DT?

I tend to waste too much time browsing the forum myself. I've limited my forum browsing to GH compile time, which can be quite long depending on how interesting the forum is. Lately though I've taken to lifting weights between compiles, it seems like a better use of time.

I do hope to see more of DT soon, it's a fabulous looking game.

There's GH's music, time to go!!

About the discussed new mod spot, I reckon FredP should be given the oppurtunity to become a mod with the same power as Indi had, and then elect a new FPSC mod. But that's just my thoughts .

Shame to see you step down, although I and others have disagreed on certain modding things, but I do thing you're a good mod. But it's what you want to do and I can imagine dealing with some of the people you do can be a pain in the rear end and stressful.

I doubt people will try to target you when you're no longer a mod , if they do, then they're pathetic.

Plus, if you get noobslapped, you'll have something to laugh at, I'm sure someone will pay Jeku or VanB just to do that

But while you can, prove those annoying idiots from the past and abuse your moderating powers, ban a few people out of spite and newb slap some people you think 'are asking for it'. I know I will fall into both categories, but hey it's not as if you're going to take facetiousness seriously...(Or are you...hmm, I would)

Putting what I have said + what you have said behind us, I'd just like to say thanks on the behalf of the community for being a mod for the lengthy amount of time you have.

I know I have tended to annoy you somewhat, but I assume I've caught you in the 'bad spell' toward the end of your modship, so I assume the rest of the time you've done a pretty decent job (not implying that your recent 'work' wasn't decent, but I'm sure you can agree that you have been somewhat more 'up time' as of recently as compared to how I assume you were previously).

Just like a lot of 'good things' in life, you don't really notice them until they are gone; although I made you asplode a few times recently, I must say I didn't really "notice" you prior to that (and I mean that in a good way - as in, I didn't find anything you did overtly wrong/disagreeable) so I'd just like to say thanks again for being a great mod, and it'll be a shame to see you out of such a position that you were clearly good at and did very well.

Please though, don't take this and throw it back in my face and stab me in some other randomesque thread, as per what happened last time when you sparked an argument with Raven. But either way; thanks for being a mod, and a good one at that

Indi - I am sure that being a MOD can put a small, strange wedge between you and the public at times. A lot like how it is difficult to get a cop to recite super troopers while standing in line for donuts.

It is a lot of work, I am sure of that. Welcome back to the passionate and enthralling development world! Someone else posted earlier that they would like to nominate WOLF if a position does in fact come open. I would like to second that.
