I'd argue Windows is the worst when it comes to software. Sure, all games run on Windows, but when it comes down to anything else other than games, I've felt Windows is by far the most annoying to use.
It starts with the fact that Windows has no package manager. You have to physically open your browser, go to some god-forsaken websites where you have to click through ads (and probably download viruses at the same time), and then it turns out that you have missing drivers and things. More clicking time!
There is no standard place where software gets installed either. Yes, most of the stuff goes into "Program Files" but there's no clearly defined structure
at all, which makes the removal and search for programs a complete nightmare.
Finally, most of the non-games you install on Windows were developed on a Unix based system and are cross-platform, so it's not entirely true to claim they "are for Windows" when they were ported.

I think the problem is the way Microsoft inserts themselves into every possible contract with the major game devs. The whole thing with Visual Studio, DirectX, etc. etc. It's all Microsoft Microsoft Microsoft!
If devs used cross-platform libraries for their games, it'd be so damn easy to support all major OSs with no additional effort, but they can't because of the Microsoft monopoly.
