DarkArena: Complex

Requires the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0
You can download it here if you don't already have it.

12 OCT 07: UPDATED DOWNLOAD > > >
Download DarkArena: Complex

Vista Users:
There are a couple of things Vista users must do for Phoenix to work properly:

1) Your account must be Administrator with Maximum privileges to include accessing the registry.
2) You should right-click on the game executable and make sure that you are running it in Administrator Mode.

Updated 14 Oct 07
If you want to see if Phoenix works on your computer first, download this tool (can also be used to test for Vista Compatibility): Download PGPS Tester: 112K

Uh Oh, I hope it lives up to your expectations! I didn't spend long on it, but It runs great on my computer. I hope it runs without lag.

Sweet, downloading now. Who wants to play?

Edit : hey it won't run. As soon as goes to "detecting shares" on the load bar it just freezes.

We all want to be awesome, but does awesome want to be us?

Okay, I'll fix it. I found a missing ceiling tile anyway.

I'm getting 33FPS while playing though. It's a good start.

@game lover: Please try the patch in the first post.

I'm going to fire it back up. HockeyKid: I'll start it back up now. I will fix the missing ceiling piece and spice it up a bit more tonight.

that was actually pretty damn fun.

i think it would be a cool idea to put a sort of 'bases' theme into action (even though there isn't any team death-match it just adds some strategy to the level)

like identical buildings far from one another and in between it the playing field (but then you probably shouldn't listen to this as I've always had a preference of large open online playing field FPS's such as battlefield where you can snipe, but a lot of other people prefer rooms like this )

i liked the addition of the shotgun, which is really good for close encounters, though for some reason half way into the game i was picking it up and receiving nothing

i cant really offer much more crit, it ran perfectly fine for me with no lag anywhere (though im running fairly high spec). I guess the background noise/ambience was a bit dull (although i had headphones in for some reason so its probably being amplified to a level which i wouldn't be hearing anyway )

get some big guns in too, make it a good feeling to find a certain weapon (like the shotgun) perhaps chuck in the sniper (if you open it up) or one of the bigger assault rifles for some power

But for what you were trying to achieve, being a simple, fun and well laid out online arena game, it was brilliant

I had thought about doing that before I even knew about FPSC; I've got a specific map in my head as well. I'll have to have a go at making the map one of these days.

I'll check yours out later, Dave.

I'll be joining or hosting at 2100 EST (9PM EST). I've made some slight improvements and added more guns and real estate (just a bit). I'll upload v2 later tonight.

V2 is uploading now. Should be ready for download at 2000EST (8PM EST)

Okay...I've got a v2 game fired up and waiting.

This version allows up to 8 people to play. I'd love to get that many to see how MP in FPSC reacts with a full load. Jon Fletcher, HockeyKid and I played for almost an hour with 33FPS all the way.

Thanks man. I'm building v3 right now with some extra weapons and hiding places. I made some custom segments so hiding is easier.

I have downloaded this but when i open it it stops loading. I pressed alt-tab, and there was a open file security dialog behind the loading page saying that it needed to open a file in the sentry folder, but i could not select it because phoenix was running. I pressed alt-f4 to close phoenix and the security dialog was up, but my computer froze. This has happened to me a few times when playing games with phoenix.
Windows Vista Home Premium (running in admin mode)
Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz
1.00GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7500 LE
Edit: i managed to get it working by opening the applications in the sentry folder and when the security dialog appears, i unticked the box saying "always show this message for this file"

Can you repeat and and give me a screenshot?

What was the message that you clicked on? Was is firewall related?

When i open the game it stops loading. i press alt tab and there is a open file security dialog behind the game

it asking weather to allow one of the files in the sentry folder(forgotten which file). I had to close all that, then open the applications in the sentry folder and when the security dialog appears, unticked the box saying "always show this message for this file" to get the game to work.

i tried to connect to your game before but it said "waiting to join" all the time.

Vista...Yick. Sorry it does all that to you. Maybe they'll figure out how to be less idiotic in future Vista releases.

If it says waiting to join, then there's no host or the host is not reponding.

I can host a v3 or v4 right now and you can try. Make sure you don't have a firewall blocking anything though.

Yeah..I mean, there's not a super big difference between v3 and v4, but v4 has a lot more polygons and fog to deal with.

I'm hosting a v4 right now.

I'll check. I think the tile is there, just a rendering glitch because the skybox should have been there if a tile was missing.

Good game though.
