I like the HUD. The thing I'd be worried about is the framerate though.

Surprisingly, the frame rate is great.

The hud is made up of 54 images...But it doesnt affect speed

Wow. Thanks. Its nice to hear that. I'm making a goal to add at least one, hopefully two, new screen shots each day. If you read the choppy story, did it make sense?

I didn't like the skybox in the first in-game screenshot very much. Somewhere in models and media is a link to some very professional looking skyboxes that are free to download, and I'm sure you can find one you like.

In the second in-game screenshot, it's just a very bland looking corner. The texture also does not look seamless in places.

The third in-game shot is too dark to really see anything besides the end of the hallway, which is pretty much empty. No bodies or anything.

This is something I'll definetly keep my eye on. All the screens are good but how do you get a good framerate in an outdoors only level

Thank you Bendak11.

1. I actually love the skybox i made. Its just a bad picture. I attached one of the pieces of the skybox. Take a look. The player can see it better when playing. I'll try to get a better picture.

2. Which screenshot do you mean?
Also, all of my textures are seamless. Completely.

3. If you are refering to the ship, that was just a test. nevermind that. I was testing some of my shaders...

Darn. It didn't attach again! here it is.

EDIT: One last note before posting. The first level is ENTIRELY outdoors. I didn't add details because of that. So please take this into concideration before criticizing. But PLEASE DO criticize. I dont want to continue to add to it, if you guys don't like it.

Ok. Now that I'm home, here is some quick screen shots of level three. After you manage getting into the mining complex, you enter the open streets of a colony structure. This, to me, is a fun level, if that is you like stealth. This is actually the only level like this.

This is the streets, with large two story windows looking outside.

NOTE: TO SAVE TIME TESTING GAME, THERE IS NO ENTITIES AND MUCH DETAIL.

See that big blank rectangle in the cement? that will be one of those big doors from model pack 3.

very cool game you have here. Lots of custom media, good huds, excellent storyline(you should make a book!), and finally thanks for the terrain tips.

@ Krowsnest- If you are talking about the colony, I agree. I'm making MUCH better, custom segments in 3ds max, and using Genetica to texture.

@ Dar13-Thanks. The story is about 11 pages long, and gets bigger every day. And I'm glad you like the game's look. I have more tips for terrain, and will post them later. When I finish the first level a little more, I may release a demo. I also have a very long list for indoor speedups...

Okay. This will be the last round of screen shots for today.

I redid half of level three, speeding up the game twice as fast (well...). From 18 fps to

This is still on venus, (I know you guys must be interested in the alien infested ship part, but this needs to be finished first), in the mining complex. I had a massive 12 story room 8X8. Surprisingly, the game ran at 35 fps when IN IT, but when not, The game ran at 4 fps!!! I deleted it, and its much longer, and there is no more lag.

OFF TOPIC: Do you guys want me to make a .pdf of my outdoor and newly indoor terrain tips? I want at least three people interested if im going to spend time on it... i'll add images, and a link to download a zip file full of .fpm files showing examples. (uses stock media).

It's looking alright, I suggest using a modeled cave segment instead of using a flat wall to make it look realistic.

Its not supposed to be a cave. Its underground trenchs. My computer is having issues, but there are support frames i added, but it didnt save for the build game. Also, i have rounder looking segments, but the test game takes to long, but ill take a new picture when the level is more complete. Thanks.

btw: Im using the "cliff" segments from model pack 1 with my own textures.

The hud took me 6 straight hours of creating. It's much harder than you may think. It also took me a bit to make my own scripts for it. I'm very happy you like it. Nevermind about the dance club. It's going to have new segments and textures when I make them.

Hey man I'm not scared by your story. it's just more in-depth than the usual game shown around here. Don't get discouraged people are simply waiting for more screenies.

Dar13- I just know, a lot of people don't care about the storyline in games much. They just want to get to the fight. I just realized, that after opening my thread again, how bloody much I write. I find it slightly annoying, so I just assume others do too.

FallenRT- I would, but the hud is very important and makes my game unique.

I am happy to say that I'm replacing the jump sound too. Everyone that has tested the level thinks that the sound he makes when jumping is odd. I agree.

Thanks for understanding. That .pdf is getting there, but I've been dealing with tests and all this week, and work, so I'll try to get it up soon. I seem to find more speedups all the time...

EDIT:I've completely redid the textures for the "HIVE" from fpsc store. I'll post new screenies later.

If it's worth anything, I personally really like how indepth the story is... It's more of a universe you are creating and not just a strict storyline which is not concerned about anything around it.

Thanks. The 3500 universe started as just a story. Then a RTS game, then, as I got tired, this game, creating a really big story line.

To me, what makes a game, is a story, which is why this 12 page long thing exists. not just, a war happened. you went to win. go kill some stuff!!!

I still think you should make an ebook or something like that. Your universe is just so in depth and can be used for a whole series of games similar to WoW or Stargate.

Thanks, like, a lot! For even posting any part of my story... I really wasn't sure anyone would like it. I deleted the small note in the first post I made, but here it is.

"The biggest goal of the story is for other people to continue the story. Just as a friend of mine does with W.O.W.. The 3500 universe has a total of 4 different stories, each about four different characters. Maybe in the future, people may make a game about there own character living in this time period..."

In case you are wondering, here is a sneekpeek at one of the four stories. How do you like?

1.The Irthan Government sends people away to Quadronukous. More happens then you know. In order for the ships to reach Quadronukous, they must go through a wormhole, to save eight whole years of travel time. Unfortunately, Hell arises when the character you play, learns that there are terrorists wanting to destroy the ships.(Cutting to the chase). The other two ships are destroyed, shields are down, and the powerless vessile falls through the black hole. With the ship hardly pulling togther, very little power, and no communication, people are forced together uncomfortably in small cramped rooms to save oxygen. it gets worse. The crash on Quadronukous, only to learn that this lifeless rock, isn't lifeless after all, and with more than half the passengers and crew dead, and no supplies, what do they do now?

Now that its the weekend, time to get to work...
