Well.. there are a few prizes for this - but the best one has to be that you will have your graphical masterpiece on show to thousands of users every day

I am after submissions to replace the header graphic on the top right. At the moment it is the one that looks like this:

Rules

1 - Image MUST be 459x60 pixels in size
2 - Image MUST be either JPG or GIF (whichever is smaller)
3 - The colour used on the LEFT hand side of the image must be pure black (#000000)
4 - No stupidly "copyright" pictures please. Just grabbing a chunk from something on gamespy or gamewallpapers.com doesn't count.
5 - You are allowed to have your name on the image in very small text in the bottom right corner, font size no larger than 10 pixels high.
6 - Maximum image size is 10KB. Not a byte more.

I am looking for the best submissions and will put their designs into rotation on the site. Actually, I will give a prize - to any design I pick you can have a free copy of the Advanced Terrain Plugin and the Enhancement Pack when released. There.. a little incentive

For the image to appeal it ought to be semi-game/DB related, but I'm a sucker for gorgeous silvery abstract 3D design too. Just something high-techy - you know the score. The winners will be short-listed by me and chosen by you.

Post here if you have questions.

Cheers,

Rich

Cool! - you should really stipulate 'No Matrix style green text layers' - 'cos they're done to death.

Should be fun though, I don't often get the chance to go nuts with chrome effects .

Isn't it supposed to be there all the time though? Not just on the forums. And "the game creators" text is hard to read, especially behind the plastic wrap filter.

Good point. Although this should be confirmed. As the graphic mentioned is spattered all over the website, and never goes away. Would assume the new one will just replace the old one.

I know its only for the forum. You do know what the forum name is called, right?

That, the forum name is Apollo. Thats why I put it instead of The Game Creators - Forum. Also, Rich never mentioned it was for anywhere else on the site, so lets assume that its for the forum and the forum alone.

Sorry if I misunderstood your comment, and this entire post was for nothing

Preston

Hmmm. Then why didn't he ask for graphics for all sections? Or is the current one fine for everywhere else, is only the forum that needs replacing? Wouldn't assume it's just the forum at all. Just might have been an honest mistake to say "forum" in the title.

Image will be used on the forum only. Not the rest of the site, hence the subject of this thread - "design a new forum header".

phoenix insane Surreal Studio - examples posted aren't too bad, but going to need something a little more than a font with a Photoshop filter - try to spice it up a little bit?

Preston - stylish

I may amend the byte limit to 15KB, depends on the quality of the entries. But allow for 15KB for now.

If you want some inspiration / lovely ideas then look here:

lol, lets ask froggermon

I was thinking, will the "The Game Creators" on the left still be there... if so then do we have to put "the game creators" or "forums" on our image?

[edit]

Hmm, still not perfect yet and the jpg magles it but it's a start:

Argh, I had a nice elipse based pattern I made myself, but I've just gone on another web site and found a similar thing there Will it still be okay to use that in a design?

I'm not really that good with art, but whilst we wait for Froggermon to turn up and show us all how its supposed to be done, here is something a little wacky:

I'm not sure if any code screenies should be placed in the background. Looks a bit too cluttered IMO.

Are we allowed to use images found in the "DarkBasic Pro/Media folder"?

<Edit> Made a "forums" one, just in case.

All images (Backround/DB Icon) used were found in that folder.

<Edit> Crap, forgot that images having to be 10kb or less. Well, this is as low-sised and low-quality as Photoshop lets my pics get. (10.3k and 10.5k)

<Edit> Made it to just below 14kb.

This sig has been dullified!

The way I see it, right now, it looks like Mussi will win (unless using the media from the DBPro/Media folder is allowed, then it will be a tie between Dgamer and Mussi).

Oh well, I tried
