I just hope next time TGC holds another competition, they'll use their products for prizes... Like plugins... Hell, they're expensive if you'll try to buy them all! (And i need each and one of them...)

EDIT: I dunno how that idea came to me... Ehhh...

The NVIDIA competition was mentioned at the conference. Procedures are already in place to make sure future competitions never turn out this way again. In future, TGC will be in full control of all prizes.

Are they planning on having another competition? o.o
Maybe for the debut of their FPSCX10...

They could always get nvidia to give tgc the prize upfront and then TGC sends the prizes out instead of waiting for nvidia?!? just a thought for the future.

I wouldn't even partner with NVIDIA after this one, people might be put off just seeing the name there. TGC might have to actually buy the cards/hardware themselves instead. Of course, TGC has numerous items from their own store that would entice someone to enter.

TGC is very wrapped up with Nvidia. Nvidia seems to be sponsoring them with FPSCX10. Thats something that makes this whole competition issue weird. You'd think Nvidia would be more forthcoming with the prizes if they are business partners.

Maybe, but TGC is the small fry here, nVidia know they can't risk breaking with them over something like this,

What's funny is I'm entering GameDev's 4 elements game competition, which last year, had a lot of prizes offered by nVidia. Wonder what the outcome of that will be.

TGC may be stuck between a "Rock and a Hard Place" with this. On the one hand (as Kentaree suggested), TGC doesn't want to alienate nVidia (for obvious reasons); on the other hand, TGC doesn't want to lose the confidence of the people who helped make them the success they are by buying and using their product. On top of that, people entering these competitions help show off TGC's products and what they can do...a bit like free advertising. TGC returns the favor by offering excellent dev tools at a small price.

At one point though, I imagine TGC will have to side with their loyal base over this.

I dont get it. Who didn't get their prizes?

I got mine, for sure. It arrived ages ago. Was it just the top prize winners who didn't get their stuff?

I'm pretty sure it was the people who were supposed to get a new (complete) computer from nVidia.

Butters, I'm sure everyone got their prizes. The fact is, some of the winners moaned about it, because they didn't get a full system. I mean, they got over £500 of stuff and they come on the forums moaning because they want more than they got.

Greedy gits.

I also don't care if it said "Full System". To build a system, you need a CPU, motherboard and RAM. All of these create a circuit for your system to operate, so it basically is a full system, minus the RAM you never received.

Just plug it all into your current case and be glad you got some thing, rather than nothing at all.

I think you're way off the mark.

Thing is, I got the 8800, and I couldn't just plug it into my case, because I had to get a motherboard that supported PCIe and a powersupply that had all the right connectors.

Higgins, I think you're being a bit out of order, had it been you that had won a full system, you too would be "whinging" if you hadn't recieved what you hoped for (or nothing at all).

This is truly sad. Some of the people didn't get what they were supposed to get...no matter how you try to interpret it.I can tell you didn't win anything because if it was you it would be a completely different story.
I didn't enter but if I had and I won something and didn't get what I was promised I would be mad as hell.
We'll see what happens the next time this happens to you. You'll blow a gasket.
Great post.I'm guessing they don't call you Mr. Sensitivity.

These people were promised a full system by TGC and nVidia, they should get what was promised, and not "settle" for something less. Just because someone didn't create the next HALO or Half Life (which shouldn't have been expected), doesn't mean they shouldn't get what was promised...by companies with the financial means to deliver.

I think you're out of line with that comment as well, Higgins. This should have been taken care of a LONG time ago....period.

In case anyone getting confused on what the prizes were to be here is the link to http://nvidia.thegamecreators.com/dbpro_prizes.php

I didn't have anything to do with competition but have been following. Suprised nobody has taken court action. Must say i think this is a very bad show from both sides.

The folks who won parts got theirs fairly quickly, I mean I won 2x7950's and a motherboard, and they came quicker than any other compo prize I've won in the past - the major issue was the bits missing from the top prize winners PC's. I think someone got their stuff and wasn't happy, can't remember who but I'm sure that's how it all started - TGC telling nVidia then the months of stalemate.

I think any future competitions will be handled a lot more professionally... like abiding by the compo rules and guidelines, not distributing peoples addresses with the games, pressing F12 just to make sure nobody has included hardcore porn easter eggs, distributing prizes, giving out the promised vouchers to all participants... (stopping before a TGC sniper get's me D

I don't whine, I get on with life.

Sometimes I do help people, other times I don't. It all depends on how I feel towards the situation, plus my mood.

Or perhaps if you were to get noob slapped for 3 years, you wouldn't mind that either, Higgins?

But anyways, I'm no expert when it comes to issues like this, but perhaps those offended could take legal action?

Absolutely, a lot of effort was put into the entries. Not winning and thus not getting anything would've been better than winning and not getting anything imho.

I can't see how I am a forum troll, as I also help people. A troll would just live to annoy people. If you think I live to annoy and start arguments with people, then why do I help with certain problems?

Maybe I'm just joking around and every one here is too serious to notice.

You do realise that that is trolling, don't you?
And no, DC isn't trolling, he's pointing out the obvious.

Maybe you just got put back on post approval status for insulting your fellow forum members...and Higgins...I defy you to find one forum member (who is not a troll him or herself) to post here in this thread and say you're not a troll. You won't find one.
Look up the word "troll" in the dictionary and don't be surprised if your picture is next to it.
At any rate this thread had enough problems without your kind and generous donation to the confusion.

It's hard to offer help when I'm not in your situation. I can't believe that TGC would let this go on for over a year though! Surely they would have followed it up by now?

This must be irritating. I would demand Nvidia to give you the prizes. Cause you made some awsome games and were promised a PC! Nvidia just sucks-Thats why I won't buy from them!
