To clarify:

Orders will be out by 12pm GMT tonight.

This said, I'm having some trouble with the installer, so I'll keep you posted. If it's any later than the stated time above, I'll throw in some freebies.

Fallen One.

I do appreciate the crit, the more recent things you have suggested have been less overbearingly critical, and are actually making technical suggestions, which I obviously appreciate.
I do have to ask one question though.... how long have you been using FPSC, and how aware are you of it's limitations? Many of the things you have suggested above are excellent ideas, and could be easily implemented in a DBpro project, but they simply are not possible in FPSC.

Your floor idea has given me an idea for a later addon to buttercutter, so thanks for that, but many of your other suggestions simply couldn't be done in FPSC, or if they could, they wouldn't be open-ended - as in they couldn't be applied to any situation, they would involved editing the scripts of numerous object, to create a scripted event.

@ Butters:

Those pillar chunks and wall chunks that fly off when shot are an animated, dynamic entity, right?

I've not long been using fpsc, I switched to using fpsc as I wanted to make completely indie games, other engines require large license fees and publisher backing to pay for them, well not all engines, but cheaper engines require quite a lot of extra features to be implemented, which costs, I wanted to be released from any publisher constraints and bang a game out under my own backing, It works out better in the long run as completed games rather than funded or partly funded games can bring a bigger advance on the royalties and more leverage on the percentage of NP.

I see a few constraints with fpsc, but all engines have them in one way or another, but they can be worked around, I've adapted what I see as initial concerns with the engine into my design, fpsc looks like a lot of fun, Im really looking forward to popping a game out with it. Fpsc looks like a great little tool to work with, fantastic simplicity, and you cannot beat the little cost involved period.

Yes they are. I know what you're thinking... framerates, and dynamic entities. Well, it turns out that FPSC handles dynamic segment entities rather better. It culls their CPU use more effectively, basically meaning that once you get a certain distance away, it suspends them.

Quote: "I see a few constraints with fpsc, but all engines have them in one way or another, but they can be worked around,"

Totally. And that's what I'm all about. Bending FPSC's rules to do what I want. Bear in mind that most of butter cutter is already a "workaround", so adding even more features on top of something that was never considered to work only decreases the stability of the entire system.

Awesome.

Also, do you get weird lighting? You know, how lighting on dynamic entities make them stick out among static entities...

Well, here is my point. If he had said that this was a wip then fine give your comments about what you would like to see but to list all the things it cannot do in every post makes it seem like it's not a complete tool therefore making, I'm sure, some people hesitant to buy the product in hopes that Butter Fingers might implement the new ideas or until he does.

All I am saying is, for as many requests that have been made for a product that is finished and being packaged, send it in an e-mail. This thread isn't entirely to talk about what it doesn't have but what it can do. I could be way off course here but I know I am buying it tonight and I want Butter Fingers to focus on packaging his product and getting it out to his customers.....not having to defend and explain why he hasn't implemented features he feels will not work in fpsc.

There was this guy at work that told me he wanted all the songs in his folder to automatically play when he opened the folder(keep in mind he doesn't even want to create a simple playlist). I told him that I would like to get in my car and say "home" and it drive me home but it's not going to happen. Some things are just not possible!

Well, I've tested this with V1 and it did have that issue.

Although It was tested by one of the beta testers on V6 and he didn't report any lighting issues. For the sake of caution, I'm going to say that it will still not light them propperly, although you should be able to get around this with clever light placement.

I kind of agree, I understand that FallenOne is trying to provide me with feedback as to what might improve the product, and that I appreciate, some of his requests I have already put in before release, my only issue falls with his lack of knowledge of the interal workings of FPSC, meaning some of the suggestions are either not possible, or would require alot of further scripting on the part of the user.

One question. Is it (pillars) done the same way as the "pillars-or-what-the-hell-is-it" from Fall of the Fireflies vid (the one with mp5 weapons)???

Make games, not war.

No. They were entities. This is a segment.

The standard is £10, but if you are outside the UK you should click the pay button, and see how much it quotes, as Paypal exchange rates change.

oh come on, you could have just pasted 10 into a currency converter.
I think it'll be around $20 for LYTE:FX

and

$24 for ButterCutter.

Guys, please bear in mind that people who pre ordered before the release date of friday 5th, were sent their orders last night.

As per the details on my site, all orders recieved after that will be processed and sent out within 7 days. I may be on the forums, but this is my weekend, and on thursday and friday I literally worked 2 12 hour days to get this done, I need a break! For each order I'm going to make an individual zip, so it's quite alot of work.

Anyway, I'll get them out ASAP, and thanks for your purchases, it's doing pretty well!

Why do you need to do an individual zip? Is it password protected? In which case, if someone wanted to share it, would just unzip it and zip it back up. Of course I'm sure you have a reason that makes sense.

one of the files in buttercutter is uniquely named for each customer, I'm not saying which one).
That way, if it pops up on a warez site, I can download it, check the unique file and I'll know which customer the piracy originated from.

Sweet! Another excellent idea. More work for sure, but for an indy developer who is concerned about piracy, it's an excellent way to track this, as well as other things.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

wont they be able to guess and just re name it, did you create a program to name them, or do you do it manually.

@Butters: You can use a hex editor to add some specific code inside the file itself. Then they cannot guess which one it is.

@Butters: Hey butter if you want we can package it up in our custom installer with a different serial number to install for each end user. Just send each user a different serial number and if ends up on a warez site you can track down the perp with ease. get back to me at sales@a4productionz.com P.S. is my hubbys order ready??? Thanks again butters. I'll gladly package it for you for free.

@butters here is a small sample of what I was talking about. I can easley generate a million serial numbers, then convert in to a text file. Then when you sell a copy you add the end users name next to the serial number. I hope this helps some. I'm attaching a sample of what I can make for you for free. Its a little sloppy cuz I rushed on it to get it up here so you can see it. If you want us to pack it, Let me know and we can start the process. Peace butters and congrads on your release...

Hey.

All orders that were placed between 12pm GMT Friday 5th October and today have now been sent. For those of you that purchased the re-release of LYTE:FX, it's going now..

For future reference:

Please do not send "where is my copy?" emails unless it's been at least 4 days. I've had people sending "when will I get my copy?"
emails 1 day after payment (on a Sunday). This only slows me down, as I have to trawl through alot of pointless emails to find the ones asking valid questions.

When you purchase you are given an extimated time for delivery (around 3 days), so please don't email before then, especially at a week end.

Hope y'all enjoy it.

Quote: "Hey butter if you want we can package it up in our custom installer with a different serial number to install for each end user."

Thanks, but I'm pretty happy with what I've got going on at the moment. It'd literally take weeks to get 2 copies of butter cutter, and compare all the 1000's of lines of code in each .x file to find the one I'm using.

Quote: "I just checked my inbox and I still didn't get the buttercutter. Did you get my payment???"

Well, you did post this on the same day you ordered!

Quote: "It has to do with a war torn city, covered by a wartorn city, covered by ash."

Sounds very bizzare. How do you cover a city with a wartorn city exactly
