So far it's exceeded my expectations. I too use a 24" screen and most of the software I need is there. I'm using the top Mac Mini available now--- it's pretty fast for how big the unit is. It's a bit of a pain switching all the wires and restarting when I want to go back to my PC, but I saved a lot of money (total cost was around $700 IIRC).
I'm just using it primarily for iPhone development as the iPhone SDK only works with OSX and I didn't want to mess around and install it on my PC. Why are you getting one? To mess around with too?
There are a few weird things that I'm not used to. With my keyboard all the standard Ctrl functions work (i.e. CTRL-C, CTRL-V, CTRL-S, etc.) but you have to substitute the CTRL key with your Windows key. It will feel odd at first but you'll get used to it soon.
Also I haven't found a good way to maximize a window. If you can do this, let me know.
When you ALT-TAB it only shows 1 of every program, so if I have 3 Firefox windows open I can't ALT-TAB between them all.
Also it's interesting how most programs you download come as a DMG file which you mount as a drive. When you've installed a program most of the time it's just 1 icon in your Applications folder, so you don't have to mess around with things like registries, program files, etc.
The "it just works" is BS. I've plugged in 2 different webcams (a cheapie and an expensive one), neither of which just worked. They didn't even have native or 3rd party drivers, but you can hardly blame Apple for that I guess.
Also it's weird when you close a program's main window it will probably stay open so you have to CTRL-Q to shut it down for good. I'm having a hard time getting used to the way the Menu Bar is at the top of the desktop instead of the window itself. Bizarre.
One more thing, does anyone know how to get the END and HOME keys working like they do in Windows editors? I'm using XCode for iPhone stuff and I expect HOME, END, CTRL-HOME, and CTRL-END to work like they do in Windows.
I'm loving the various function-key abilities--- F11 is great
Anyways, that's probably a much larger response than you wanted
