So... I spent a lot of time creating the mouse pointer for the game & creating special effect for the level 3.
it was quite easy to create the effect... Each day I discover stuffs with DBPro... & it makes me happy...

Here is the link to see the first version of my effect... Any comment will gratefully accepted... if anyone can improve stuffs... just feel free to share...

... I've really been scared with modification on level 3... but now, thanx to the users of this forum, I could have again my level 3 correctly done.

Here's the pic I took after the modifications on level 3.

Part of the model changed the coulours & didn't get the lightmap.
I had to change the lightmap file to get again a fine result.

Modified lm.x of the level 3
Added 4 pillars for the movie screen on level 3
Modified animation of 2 objects on background
Created the function for the screen animation
Added walls on Level 4
Updated Kalimée's web page http://www.vues3d.com/ke_index.htm

Here again with new updates...

First of all, the 2 pictures below are the result of the addition of a movie screen. When first enigma is solved, the player will choose wich direction to keep. On the left or on the right. Each direction will run a different level, but the player will not have the chance to play both of them...

Enigma if the player choose to go on the right

Enigma if the player will choose to go on the left.

& also:
Created 3 function for 3 effect using fx files (glow, metal & dynamics lights)
Modified level 3 to get the level run faster.
Modified model of level 4 to get the level run faster
Modified Player cursor (still not definitive)
Level 1 definitively Terminated (text, instructions, transition, models & gameplay terminated)

Quote: "Edited topic:"

Hi there!!!
For those who is interested in looking at the game I'm creating, you can now download the first level going directly on the site (click on Download).

The whole process isn't ready. The only thing I ask for is the e-mail address of the person who download the demo - (This protects me against piracy & illegal use of material distributed & also limitate the amount of downloads. In effect I have a limited amount of MB for download on my server & have to limitate some accesses...).

http://www.vues3d.com/ke_index.htm
(Click on download)
If you encounter problems with Fonts, you can download it clicking here:
http://www.fontalicious.com/super/jenkins.html

Quote: "Edited"

The install package has been updated. So, now, normally you will not have any problem for the font displaying.

First of all I have to thank you all the people that send me a feed-back about the beta of the first release.
Before I write anything else I would like to tell 2 or 3 things...

- The major reason of this very earlier beta was the result of the run on different machines & OPs.

- To have some feed-backs about visuals

- To know if the game seems coherent with player engine.

Results on this was really good. 288 downloads ( )In fact, it seems that the game can run even on Windows98 (I was sure that the game could be played only on XP)
So, now, Operating systems that the game can be played on are:
- Windows 98
- Windows Millenium
- Windows 2000 (sp1 until sp4)
- Windows XP (sp1)

So, due to the feed back I had I made:

Selection on menu has been changed. Now the selection works perfectly. [FIXED]
Text on screen is more faster. [PARTIALLY FIXED - Need to implement a function that will display entire text pressing a key]
Mouse pointer definitively finished.
Advanced player interface function for appearing & disappearing from the screen terminated.
Modified score results on games at the level 2
Modified game screen on level 2 for the "step games"
Created animation for introduction to the player interface functionality
Created transition from level 1 to level 2 passing by the explanation of score & player interface.
advance on level4 in Cshop.

... to be continued ...

Spent all evening creating a realistic flame for the candles I put in the level. First try I made, was a little flame (1 image) that was applied on a plain & then resized in real time to get the idea of a real flame. Result was quite interesting & good, but I tried then to associate a movie to a plane & I think the result is really good to me.
Here you'll find 2 screens of the flames...

On this picture I placed 6 planes for the flames to get a result almost acceptable.

Replaced all candle pictures by a movie
Replaced the movement function & created a routine that I will use later to call other flames in other levels
Remodeled Level 4 & added new paintings (90% have been made with Vue d'Esprit & are part of my own artwork gallery) Othe3 3 paintings are from the Da Vinci's drawings
Added 7th Enigma & one more candle light [1 more enigma & the level will be definitively terminated.]

Also, once the level will be over, I will do a demo to test (Walk around the level & solve 1 puzzle)

... to be continued ...

Hi everybody!
Today the sun is shining (even behind thos awful black clouds)
I finally terminated the level 4 (just missing introduction text... but it's just a detail!)

Spent whole evening & part of this night in order to terminate my level & finally I got it. I still have a little problem with the download time, the whole level loading time is now 54 seconds. It's still an improvement because I had til 125 seconds...

So, in order to give you an idea, you can download the little movie I made of the level.
http://www.vues3d.com/kalimee/kalimee_4.wmv

Hope you'll enjoy it.

Definitive Model & lightmap of the L4
Added the movement of the camer using the mouse (this feature is a particular one that I let you discover tomorrow in the demo)
Added final transition for the exit of the L4
Added an hidden clue
Beginning of the L5

So, first of all... Thanx for the shot... It's really a wonderful effect.
This means that I should have a look on the bump functions...

I'm having a look on the tread about shaders... & it's really interesting. Red, is this your ptoject? Where could I see more??? I love this kind of atmospheres!!!!

Lampton... It's effectively at the wrong place because this thread was one of my first here & I was really really noob! But seems now everyone knows where it is...

Tada....!!!!

& now, ladies & gentlemen... here is the link for the load of the level 4...
It's a direct link & a RAR encoded file. If you want to have a ZIP file, please feel free to ask me by mail or here & I will send it to you.

Also, please, read before all the READ-ME.txt file. It contains informations on how to navigate inside the level.
If you encounter any problem, bug, or if you want to give any impression, feel free to do it here or directly by mail (address at the bottom of the signature)
Thanx to everyone!!!

i'm sorry to complicate your life K but i figured youd appreciate what this might do for your stuff...

yeah... bumpmapping is gonna be a lil bit of a pain... don't use the default bumpmapping on commands... the lighting effectrs are less than desirable...

there's a shader written by on of the guys (NinjaMatt me thinks) that works a lot better and allows you to apply colors to the lights, and move the lights and the effects show up on the bumpmapped objects...

i'll try to find out the exact shader...

[added]
here's the link to download the bumpmap shader http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/wisemonkeys/darkbasic/NormalMap20.zip

it's commented so it'll all make sense... it was done by Ninja Matt and is detailed on page 8 of the Ultimate shader thread http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=28992&b=1&p=6

Yeah Matt's shader is much better, and you'll probably get better visual results from it - it is a little slow though because it's a specular mapper too, you can use the alpha channel on the normal map to set the shinyness of particular parts of the texture. He did make a straight normal map shader too - although you'll have to tredge through the big shader thread to find it. Perhaps we can persuade our shader coding ninja buddy to make a new post with all his shaders in it.

I'd like to see a simple and faster bumpmapping feature in pro though, like the old fashioned greyscale bumpmaps - they're more processor friendly. With any luck Lee will have a lot of problems with bumpmapping in FPSC .

... really thanx for the tip. I will work on them as soon as I can & I understand!

This effect should give a realistic touch on stuffs.. & it's really intersting to me learning on how shaders works because until now they still are a mystery to me.

Anyway... I continued on my project faster than never!
I just begann my level 5 2 days ago & I finally got the construction of 70% of it... seems this one will be done faster than others... but... maybe not... Also because I get a awful result using fog & clothes together... they litterally disappears from screen when fog is on. So, i think I've to log this as a bug... but it really desappoints me!

Here we go... as I'm really happy with the new features, all the level 5 will interact with banners & flags...
So I just made a little movie where you can see clothes in action & some screens.

I had a look on the examples got with the package & I find that all the examples are done on objects not greather than 10 pixels. When used those models in my level, they were as little as atoms!!! So I've to resize them &... all the emitters, effectors & so on won't wok anymore. I've to increase all the values. As an example, one of the flag in the examples shows correctly when run, I put the same commands in my level (such as gravity, force & so on ) & nothing happens. I changed the graviy to -1000 (Normally the right value for a terrestrial gravity should be -10!!!) & I get anothe result much nearest to the reality...
So, seems cloths should need some bug fixes... or maybe help should have more explicits comments on the command. In fact the help file is quite more poor that the DBPro help!

Anyway....

here's the movie: http://www.vues3d.com/kalimee/kalimee_5.wmv

[img][/img]

Added 9 models on a total of 12
Added 3 Banners on a total of 12
Created 3 banner textures (from 4 to 6)
Modified transitions on L1
Modified - Replay function on L1
finished the exit function for L2
Fixed Rate bug on L1 & L2

Yep... you're right... the collision routine has been rewritten & now I get a slide collision with walls. This should be tested in the next demo of the level 5...

Thanx for the kind comments.
I'm rewriting some routines & made some optimization on all levels. It's a bit longer also because with my brand new knowledges I have some stuffs to change in the previous levels.

yes , collisions fails.
Great artistic works, sure for true.
i can't understand why your loading routines take so long for a single level, about a minute, wow like c64 tapes!

how you make the gallery??? very very great effect.
have you an idea about the final weight of the game? (mb)

Bravo bravo, non male davvero, anzi, molto bello!

Ciao Ermes! (Bo... tu sai come mi chiamo... tu???)

The loading routines takes a while, but I also don't know why... even if i expect that is for the do/loop condition for the build of the paintings....

As for now, is ok, but I will handle this in the next few weeks. Hope I will find a way to short the time.
I had the same problem with L5, but I found why... & now from a loading time of 50 seconds, I have 15 seconds loading time!

The Gallery level has been created with Cshop, textures made with photoshop (& some from the web - with authors agreements)

The whole game will be huge (I guess) because I have now around 250mb of data, objects, textures & so on... but I guess stuffs will be less weight once I converted some bmp in png & jpg files...)

Grazie comunque per il complimento! Fa sempre piacere!!!!!

A presto!

I take the opportunity to made a little update on my diary:

Added last models (12 in total)
Created all the main banners (12)
Created first long banner (48) in the total
Modification of the main model
Created avi file for transition between each models
Created function for the transition & loading interface
Redrawing the player interface (I think I will have a brand new one in 1 or 2 weks)

It's amazing how much TV has raised us. (Bart Simpson)

Guido, io mi chiamo Ermes, my name is Ermes, Ermes Bertone, like the greek god Ermes, Mercury as romans.

E poi, questa chicca , sono del segno dei gemelli, di cui Mercurio (il mio nome in italiano) ne è il pianeta dominante...

250 mb of data? are you a bit crazy, where do you think to upload your game?

Great photoshop work, again good job, you're a very skilled one, by the way, you can speak 3 languages?? English, French and Italian?

Ciao "Zio" Guido.

A Ermes... Non mi crederai, ma mio Zio è "Zio" Guido... dunque non possono essercene 2!!!
Te... Zio a me??

ça a l'air vraiment étrange.

hey guido, just got your email, thanks for the great comments on my music!
I've had a listen to your mp3's and they sound really nice and ambient. Its a bit difficult to remix them without having all of the individual loops to play with, but I've decided to have a go at making some music myself within the framework that you have set with your mp3's. I'll have a try and see what I come up with.

HI Chy!
Thanx a lot for the proposal & as you can imagine, this makes me really happy!
Also because your talent is GREAT!
I can't wait to listen your music...

This week I haven't touched to my project beacause I was really tired & had many work to do for my job. There was also a bit of "Lazyness" in the air... but I think with the new week that is coming... The project will go ahead...

I think I can do a playable demo on all the levels in the next 2-3 months... (Long while, but I want to have it as perfect as possible & eliminate a maximum of "bugs")

CHEEEEEERS!

Was a while I haven't posted any new advance in the game...
This was due to a HUGE problem ( ) I discovered in my game. In a mysterious way, the transition between L1 -> L2, L2 -> L3 & L3 -> L4 was sh**** & I got some BLUE screens. I spent almost 2 days finding why I didn't get the "Loading" screen & find yesterday night the reason... There was a "Sync on" on each level that hasn't to be there!!!!!!!!!!! MY ENTIRE FAULT!

So, after the correction I begann to create the map of the L5 (Will be REALLY useful if the player want to access on the L6.) ^But still not finished yet...

Implemented a 3D menu to access on the maps & clues
Creation of the L5 map (This will appear as a banner)
Solved the transition problem between the Levels
Finished the Part2 of the Main introduction movie

... to be continued ...
