Hi...
The game is a puzzle game...

It will have many many enigmas to solve such as Stop rotating objects, answer questions, arcade games, mind storming games & so on...
Each level has his own enigmas & they are all differents from each others.
In this case..

Level 1 - Stop 4 rotating objects
Level 2 - Add player interface - Arcade games
Level 3 - Stop the Stone mechanics
Level 4 - Open 8 hidden paintings
Level 5 - Find the way to go out the level passing by 12 hidden pavillions
Level 6 - Solve the stone enigma & pass 3 "Mister mind" like games.

its like an art show or something the game it self.

Finalized the map screen in the 5th level.

Finalized the Castle model in the 6th level adding some walls around it. Gives now a dramatic effect to the player. Changed also the lightmap & the trees models.

Finalized the 2d part of the 6th level. In this part, the rule is to find the code that will open the dor to let you pass in the next room.
Tho find the secret code the player must play in a sort of "MasterMind" game. 3 different levels to end the level 6.
But there is also another puzzle to solve on the middle of the castle...
The picture below shows a part of the room.
The main wall texture comes from a photo of an Egyptian wall taken last summer.

Hi everybody...
Spent a lot of time to terminate the first part of the Level 6.
It's over now!!

In the first part of the level 6 player must stop the 4 cubes & the pyramid at the same angle to open the door that blocks the enter of the castle.
Each time the player fails, 100 points are taken from the player score. This is quite hard to complete & you can lost 'til 1000 points. If the player fails 10 times, the door will open anyway to let him pass. If you complete the puzzle with less than 4 tries, player gets a full save points (3000).

Here some screens of the first part:

Level 6 part I completed
Create the door for the access on part 2
Create new textures
Create the 5 puzzle pieces
Created sound for the door opening
Created new skysphere & texture
Created transition effect level6 pI to Level6 PII

The second part of the level 6 is still in progress. For the moment I just remodeled & retextured the whole model.
In this part, the player must pass 3 puzzles based on "master mind" principles. (More to come)
Here some pics:

Remodeld the whole level6 PII
Retextured the whole model

Level 6 - 2d puzzle screen done
Level 6 - 2d puzzle sprites created
Level 6 - 2d puzzle logicals implemented
Level 6 - 2d puzzle Gameplay beginns
Level 6 - 2d level added some closed doors to open

So, the rules for the level 6 are:

First part: Solve the blocks puzzle - A pyramid & 4 cubes are rotating. The player must stop them exactly at the same angle as the first one. This will take 100 points each time player fails. If the player solve the puzzle before the 5th try, it will be credited a full save score. If not, the door will open anyway, but player will be not credited by any points.

When the player comes in the second part, he has to open 4 walls by solving a sort of mastermind game based only on 4 tryies. The player will stay at the same level until he solves the 4 games. Once the puzzles are solved, the player can go until the end of the level 6 enter in a new zone situated between the 6th & 7th level where he can walk around in a sort of mystycal maze....

Here a screen of the game board (almost final, needs some improvements on the sprites...)

Also created the main screen for the Kalimée Story.
The player will find some hidden textes that explains the world of Kalimée!
The picture shows the French text, but, naturally, this will be in english, French & Italian!

hey guido. looks cool. i noticed that the set command for the sprite;

set sprite 1, 1, 1

caused a real slowdown, coz the backsave option takes too long (prolly coz it has an alpha channel). when i changed the command to;

set sprite 1, 0, 1

it ran really, really fast. only thing was i had to repaint the background every frame.
-------------------------------
i think if you use the size sprite command;

size sprite 1, 240, 360

to scale up the fire animation then the size of the fire will match the size of the container and make it look a bit more imposing.

Here's the final Board for the "mastermind" like puzzle...
(Thanx a lot to Blink!!!! )

The logical part is over, coding now the transitions & effects part.
Changed the rules from 4 to 6 colours, the 4 colours was really to easy to solve. With 6 it will be a bit harder, but not too much!

Thanx Baggers!!! Always a pleasure... to see some comments...

_____________________________________________________________

Today I'm just MAD ABOUT DBP!!!!!!!!!!!!
Due to a bug in DBP (sure it's a bug)... I LOST ALL MY INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (the one with bubbles)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Don't know why, I saved the files, deleted an attached file that I was using no more in the game & saved again the project.
I ran it to look at my modifications... & I just realized that for an unknown reason, one of the files has OVERWRITTEN another one erasing all the code & replacing it by a duplicate one.
I've been immediately seen in the bak files &... the files have also been overwritten!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, now, I've to code again all the level... THIS REALLY SUCKS!!!!!!!
So... I guess it will took again some days to redone it....

DISAPPOINTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very impressive work!

I've experienced the same problem - as if the code was overwritten in an included file when i went no where near it - it was good work too...

oh well, keep going, ill expect to see some more marvelous updates soon!

So... seems that those days it's bad days for Kalimée...
I finally decided yesterday to update DBPro with the new patch &......... IT'S A DESASTER!

I got the bad surprise that transparencies on objects doesn't work correctly...

Just look at the two pics below:

This one with NO UPDATE

And this one after the update:

So, I tryied to uninstall the update, but after uninstall DBP was also uninstalled.

I WANT MY TRANSPARENCIES COME BACK AS BEFORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Also because I use it very very often & all of them aren't working properly anymore!!!!!!!!!

Cage Complex: Kalimée is a Puzzle game where you explore a surrealistic world... it's a melting of Puzzle-arcade-art gallery game! & now I'm adding a little quest & many clues that gives the full history of kalimée... Better thing is to play to understand!

Cela dit... comme dirait Zazie... Zen soyons Zen!!! A tout problème il y a une solution... Il m'a fallu quand même 2 jours pour récupérer mon niveau foiré!!!!!!!!!!!!

After having passed more than 10 hours on my level4 trying to correct some "strange" errors, I just took the time to manage the Main Menu of the game.

Calling the interface from the game, this will give the possibility to:
- Save the game in progress
- Look at the parchemins found in the levels
- load the previous saved game
- Acess to the "Mini Games" menu (not implementd yet, but the idea is to have the possibility to play each mini game once they have been playied during the game.
- Exit &/or end the game

For the moment, only the "Parchemins" section is partially working.
Still not finished yet.

Here a little video:

Added in the Menu function the possibility to buy the objects lost during the game
Added the section where the player can see the cinematics of the level passed
Added the section that shows the "stereographic" section

Model of the level 7 is still under modeling. it will be in 2 stages.

Damned!
Lost many pictures from my server that has moved on a new one... :-(

Damned!
Because from my last update, my levels are REALLY CRAP now.. Transparencies aren't working well, Objects no longer load or doesn't load correctly, for a myterious reason textures in the 5th level won't load on objects... loading screen are WHITE... animations for the loadings can be visible only 2 seconds... & other damned stuffs that I really don't understand... until then I had my first 6 level ready... now, I just have the 1 that works correctly...
2 has fade & transparencies problems
3 same as above
4 The .x file doesn't load the textures. I have the model partially textured... but if I run directly the level 4 without playing the 3 other, it works fine... strange stuff..
5 The banners have only the 1st pixel color on the whole banner intead of the picture.
6 Skysphere, that is exactly the same as the 1st level, won't render correctly... I have stange square pixels on it...

So, for those & other reasons, I will beginn again Kalimée from the beginning... hoping that I will use many of my functions without having to code them again...

JUST ANGRY ABOUT ME... I HESITATE UPGRADING WITH THE LAST UPDATE & I DAMN MYSELF TO HAVEN'T HEARD MY LITTLE VOICE THAT WAS TELLING ME TO NOT DO IT!

Ouch... Realy dud, get a CD burner or something AND BACK EVERYTHING UP!!!! and if your realy thinking ahead, write a lil text file that states what version of DBPro it compiled fine in and what direct X version... that way you can store the CD somewhere's safe and don't have to worry about it getting overwitten!

But realy though, You've done a great job, keep up the good work if you can work your way around the bugs...

Good luck!

I WILL DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was working on the map of the level 7.
So, I've added 8 cubes + one drawing on the wall & then rendered the lightmap as usual.
I exported it & changed the values for the 1.#qnand0; to 1.0 (as usual) & there was no "Lightmap_0" to change...

Once done I JUST opened the code & pressed F5 (SO, NO CHANGE IN ANY WAY OF THE CODE) & I get this awful surpise.......

... & it slows down... & get 3fps!!!!!

Do someone could tell me why?
is there a maximum of polygons that DBP can handle?

Finally solved the problem & I think it was a useful one, because I know now what I can do & how far I can go.

Issue was caused by some textures I forgot to resize & reduce. So it was a pain to find why & finally, Thanx to some suggestions I had on a separate thread, I get some indications that showed me the way!!

I LOVE THIS FORUM.......

So.. I just relighted the map & loaded in the game. It works now perfectly & thanx to some modifications, I had the level earning in some fps.
Had the time to continue on the animations of the spheres & created the firsts 2 scenes of the intro movie. (A spaceship searching for a place to land...)

Here a pic of the movement of the sphere...

I put the VERY first image of the intro cinematic on the official forum located here:

I know now, I guess, from where comes some little bugs in the game. I'm going to review the code & make some modifications on textures.
I'm planning to release the second Demo with the 2 first levels (limited to some actions- This is not due to some "thief" fear, but only to preserve some mystery on the levels... )

In fact, I'm adding now in the menu, the possibility to collect "Stereoscopic" pictures - (Made already the first 2).
Unlock some hidden movies (especially one of 6 minutes)
unlock some hidden stereoscopics levels (still working on the way to handle the camera)
Buy the lost "parchemins" because you will hardly need them to solve some "numbered" puzzles. In fact they will handle some solutions or hidden clues to help solve some complicated number combinations.
To buy them you need to use your save points & if you need extra save points, you can Play with mini-games that will cost you also save points, but where you can earn a lot more... or not!

As I've solved some issues & bugs, I guess I will again pleased to repair some bugs due to the upgrade & go ahead on new stuffs. hoping that in the next few months I will have something consistent.

I'm also planning for the end of november a whole beta from level 1 to level 6 that could be loaded only by "subscribed" Beta-Tester.
So, if you think you want to take part to the beta test (Beta soft will be FULL version of the game) just send me an e-mail or subscribe to the forum. In fact I will mail to all my BetaTest list & will propose to the whole forum user list. (Under some conditions). So, as I would test it in a large variety of configurations, I need to have MANY betatesters...)

So... it's enough for today... & for the week. This week-end I guess I will only see some DVDs!!

worked on a hidden level...
This will be a special one because it will be in Cross-eye stereogram.
Fot thoss who don't know what Crossed-eye stereogram is:

Stereograms are made in different ways... to obtain a virtual 3d landscapes or views).
in this case, you have to look at the two circles displayed in the picture, then you focuses on them doing a little cross with your eyes. In few seconds you should see a third one appearing in the middle of the two rings. once you have it, look at the scene & you shold be "in"...

Here's the picture made TOTALLY with DBPro... (Thanx again to Lost in thoughs & nicolas thomson for the help in achieving this).

Here below you can reach, using the link, to the main page of my Stereograms site where you can find a lot of other stereograms done using the landscape creator "Vue d'Esprit".

http://www.vues3d.com/e_stereo.htm
In this page you'll find many pics & also a little movie...

Don't exactly know yet if there will be more than one hidden level done with this technique... But... there will be at least one & some hidden stereo pics... (This is just the bonus parts of the main game).

Added the 10 cube-codes.
The player must found first the 10 cubes that will be used to unlock the 4 fire spheres.
The cubes are the Kalimée's writing of the numbers 0 to 9.

Here the little pics of 3 new wallpapers:

The full pics are in the Forum under the "Wallpapers" topic.

So... don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing, but from now on - & for a little while - I'll have all my time to continue seriously working on the game.

I dedicated part of my last week closing the level 7...

And it is! Need some graphical improvements (such as adding some sound & special effects) but the whole puzzle part, codes & manipulations are over...
Redone also the cinematics for the level 1 & finished the cinematics for the level 7 that is a fire tunnel.

Next week will be dedicated to the final touches of the previous levels & the final release of them.

Here's just a pic of the Italian Loading screen.

Next week people will be able to download the Demo version of the level 7..
