So if Raven has nothing to post (which I don't know) why would he post all of this big hooplah? I assume he has something to show. If he doesn't, why say he does and bring all of this attention on himself?

I'd like to know the outcome to this.

Well without flaming Raven, he does this all the time - get's everyone all exited then disappears for a week. The fact that he can't even show a single screenie leads me to believe this is another one of those topics. If he does post a screenshot, then it better have naked ladies on it to make up for all the baited breath he's wasted.

You know what'll happen, next time he'll actually post a screenshot but nobody will look at it .

I see how he can do this, but what I don't understand is how he can actually come back after a week and pretend it didn't happen. But, TCA is right, there is a chance this is real. Being leniant, I'd give him until next Friday afternoon to show something, and after that, his credibility is official down into the negetive percentile with me. But-- let us keep an open mind-- miracles can happen, yes?

Ok, so if he has done this before (make a hooplah but not come thru - which I don't know is the case, yet) why did everyone get all "baited breath" ? Isn't it like the "boy crying wolf" ?

Actually Raven did that more often than once.
Last time it was a range of DBpro TPCs which were (according to him) finished, and were just lacking the docs.

Depends on how long you've been here .

There's always newbies and folk who've been on the forum for less than half an hour who don't understand what Raven's on about - but it sounds cool so they sit around waiting for screenshots that never appear.

Put another way, how many oldbies responded with 'Great Raven, looking forward to seeing your work on Friday'? compared to the amount of replies from people who don't really know Raven at all. You always try and give someone the benefit of the doubt on these forums, I've certainly been prooved very wrong before - but I still have 1 spare kidney to gamble on Raven never showing a screenshot on this topic.

Oki, I said I've pushed this back to Friday... I've never done this before!
Usually i'll just drop it from public eye;

I have 3 more days, keep the pitchforks at bay until then, eh
I'm not going to announce the website going up; so basically... keep your eyes on the url.

http://deliverance.puffinteractive.com/

I would say... just be patenient for the time being. And Contribute something; I mean Van didn't you say you were going to show off VanSketch and VanMesh?
c'mon we need more participation here past everyone bitching or taking pops at me; DarkBASIC is what this event was suppose to be about not a single title.

Although at E3 the main focus of topic for people were Halo 2, Half-Life 2 and Doom 3; Those games are over-hyped and to some disappoint when they don't show anything new. Often the best displayed titles are those that you never even knew were in development, like F.E.A.R

Technically neither did any of those companies Rich.
They just took old footages and redited with new music... voila another 600MB download video - lol

And it isn't as if they even showed what they had on day one either, no they actually showed thier stuff mid-way through.

If you wanna know my comments on the bitching towards me at the moment, just watch the HL2 Delay Video 2 on HalfLifePlanet.com hehee

Raven: If the AI code isn't completed, can't you still just hit PRNT-SRCN and upload just one screenie? David T. seems to have seen something already and he claims it's amazing. Why not just show what he has seen already? I for one don't care if it's an executable or a screenie, just show something. Surely you have *something* to show as your original Friday date was supposed to be last Friday

I'm not done WordTrix but just grabbed a screenie. It's not that hard to do, mate!

Yeah Raven.

Just slap some stupid WIP screenshot up here, just to keep us happy.

There is no good reason why you can't upload a screenshot. Just run the code you have, press print screen and upload it here : http://www.posergallery.com

Unfortunately in a way Raven's like me. We both want to show off our new stuff, especially when we do something cool that we feel excited about. But neither of us like uploading stuff until its perfect. Sometimes we'll have something ready for uploading and then something sets us back, like a crash or virus or whatever. Then we end up loosing a little bit, say the last 5% before we backed up. Or worse, we try and implement a new feature, which temporarily kills the other stuff, making us suddenly wanna back out and not upload till its back to the standards we like to project of ourselves. This is exaclty what happenned to me with my DeathBed demo a couple of weeks back. However, this time I decided to bow to peer pressure and release the darn demo when I said I would, even though it was bug-ridden and slower than how it had been a few days before when i announced it! I didn't want to release it in that state, but I did. However this is the first time I'd done that, often in the past I have said I would upload something and then something hindered me, similar to Raven's situation now.

Those who know Raven well (myself included to an extent) often get the odd snippet or screenie because he trust's our judgemnt or our forward vision. And the stuff he shows always impresses.

Give him till this Friday like he said to get something he's happy with. Don't hound him otherwise he may get stressed enough to abandon the idea of posting the wip in the first place. God knows that's happenned to me before!

Damn us Geniuses and our artistic temprements lol

Can I ask this: What has Raven done in the past to deserve all this attention and fervor towards his upcoming item? I mean I have been here almost a year (but have been around off and on under a different name since dbc 1.08) and I don't remember anything that would set Raven aside from the rest of the people here - I am being serious, not antagonistic, what game or other thing did he make to get everyone all so interested ?

He's not a newbie, he's Simpro. I had to go to his web site to find that out

YOu've got a point but I can understand wanting to release everything in one go instead of the excitement being slowly drained by the slow release of screens.

Perhaps cause after almost 5years, I am still here and willing to help out anyone who asks me for help.
I'm sure if you asked around you might actually find that I have helped out with quite a large number of projects from quite a large number of people.

Xtom, Mofux, Webdext, TDBoy, Moondog, Kentaree, Andy Ingo, Bulleyes etc...
I know there are a number of people who don't appear to see work from me or such, but simply because you don't see it first hand doesn't mean that i'm sitting idle just waiting to flame anyone in the general topic.

It just seems like everytime Raven makes a post, and the thread starts to get out of hand, someone new sticks up for Raven, and says that they have known him for ages. Is this all a coincidence? It happens every time.

yes, but based on what? Why is something Raven may produce so highly anticipated, moreso than anyone else here?

@ Raven: I don't question your willingness to help and your obvious savvy with all things technical. I am just asking (because I don't know) what it is (game or app or whatever) you have done in the past?

This is seriously my just asking a question - no antagonistic intentions whatsoever.

i've only released a single game in the past, i've worked on plenty of projects.

if i can find it i'll upload it as it was a basic DB game; that no one liked aparently. i thought it was good for only knowing basic for 2weeks though.

most other things i've simply stopped for one reason or another.

I am planning on posting some details about vanMESH & vanSKETCH, almost finished normal calculation and the gui is comming along nicely - but I also intend to upload the new OIE and Jetpac zips on Friday so I'll post the details then.
Something awesome that I just coded last night though - each vert now shows it's normal as a projected line, gives the mesh a sorta Hellraiser 'Pinhead' look, very useful - it can even colour the line with the vertice colours - actually quite usefull for UV mapping because after a lightmap it'd show the light source on the actual UV data. I was messing around with it yesterday, and the live UV mapping is awesome, I can't wait to use it properly.

Please try and get something to show us on Friday, even if it's just a picture of a monkey - we all come in here expecting to see eye-candy, and all we get is broken dreams and crushed promises. Yes I'm melodramatic today .

Oh sorry...I never read sigs.

May as well mention that I'm working on Japers Capers again! It's my Jack The Ripper Monkey Island style game. I'm not coding it though, so it's not going to be written in DB. I would have prefered DB though.
