Yes, Jade is rather...nice...

I've sold my copy of BG&E (theoretically anyway) - the camera got in the way too often...

Just show us one shot.

You must be able to do that.

I guarantee that one screenshot of pretty much anything will buy you another 5 days.

Though I wish to stay nuetral in this whole thing, this might just get Raven to show us some screenshots.

Raven, if you give us at least one screenshot by the end of the day, I'll give you this (please note the image is only a thumbnail, click to enlarge (and no it doesnt point to the logout page):

The model is less than 5000 triangles right now, and no, I didnt go wacky with the smooth tool (ah, the beauty of a YafRay render).

Maybe that might just get him to release a screenshot (if not, well...I'm nuetral anyway, what do I got to lose?)

Cheers,
Preston

lol, this thread is getting kinda amusing ^_^ last time i saw this kinda db-hype was for a game called shenmue zero over on rgt, what's even funnier is that the hype for the entire game over there is pretty much equal to the hype for a single screenshot over here... heck people are even willing to trade models for a sneak peek! lol

I hope you don't disappoint raven!

Well as long as we're waiting I might as well show another screenie of WordTrix 2.0... if nobody cares, just tell me

This shows the customizability of the letters and the background image. The art (except for the background) was created by Aegis, and the background was grabbed from digitalblasphemy.com to use as an example.

hehee, erm Preston has anyone ever told you what i actually do for a living?
you might wanna ask around

I can't release a shot of docks, as I don't work by creating a little area, texturing and moving onto the next little area.
I have a set regime;

Model -> Rig -> Texture -> (Portalise) -> Shader -> Test
Once a model hits the texture stage I won't touch it's mesh anymore, effectively that's the finished peice of work.

Try to remember i'm working full time here so I only have a few hours after work to work on things; and i come home from working all day on almost the same things, so i wanna go down the pub and relax or just chat to mates like anyone would.

that's one overused wallpaper.

Quote: "200,000 -> 20,000 (my dawn model) in Melody, takes around 45minutes!"

woah, either you have a crappy comp or Melody sucks big time... since I've been making normal maps from original (150,000-400,000) models to "lowpoly" (7,500 - 30,000). the max time I've gotten is less than 10 mins. I used ORB for making the normal map... perhaps you should too. That is, if you even have a model to make the normal map from.

Jeku has produced something special from that wallpaper! It goes well with the other colourful stuff on the screen. Jeku should be given ownership of the wallpaper for using it so well.

I think I'll post a Japers Capers image on here to add to the topic.

Thanks, Mouse I grabbed the official Scrabble dictionary from a word-list site and wrote a VB app to parse out all words less than 3 characters and more than 6 characters. Basically the range is 3-6 characters.

The grid is 8x12 and it's pretty hard to spell even a 6 letter word without the game recognizing a smaller word inside of it before you finish (eg spark = spa, par, ark, spar, park, and spark). Basically in order to spell SPARK you'd have to place the 'A' last.

I honestly dont care what you say you do, I've seen none of your work (other than those few images on your website (if they're even yours) and the few signature images you've used) and I honestly doubt you've got anything to show. I'm staying nuetral in this argument because you're just as stubborn of a lazy idiot as I am and I know how that argument will end.

But, to show that I actually have some work to show (even if its minimal) heres some shots of what I have done of my little modeller (even if they're laughable and practically show nothing, something you should take note of Raven).

http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/backfacecurrent.JPG <-- Old shot I originally showed to VanB, still having problems with hiding the backfaces and hidden faces, probably going to make life a bit easier and just put a wireframe displayed mesh of the object (just a tiny bit scaled) to display all of the edges. I'll have to work vertices out a bit later.

http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/guiwip.JPG <-- Just a little GUI I've been working on for the final product. Like the way I like it, small, simple, and not clusted with disorganized crap one doesnt need. Viva BlueGUI

I've also done several other things during my leave, programmed for two mini comps at remakes.org (and await the big compo and help find sponsors for it):
http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/zingyorbcatcher.PNG <-- For the One Button Mini Compo (revised afterward)
http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/badgermanhole.JPG <-- For the Game and Watch Mini Compo

Not to mention I Started a Raytracer (adding in lights have pretty much ended the project due to complete frustration)
http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/FinalExampleHighResolution.JPG
http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/FinalExample.JPG <-- If you want to see the chaos I had trying to put in the lights

I am also working on my new website and looking for a new host(Megaton knows this already, and keeps recommending freewebs, though I refuse to go there with the horribly slow servers) and I'm probably going to take a deal with Tokes at remakes.org (he's offering pretty cheap webspace with pretty good bandwidth for a fairly cheap cost).

http://members.lycos.co.uk/prestonchaderton/NewWebsite2.JPG <-- Screen of my new website layout (choosing a new background soon, this one looks like someone smeared poo all over the badckground).

Well thats about all I've got to show. Not much, and I'm sure its easy to laugh at (everyone, at my request, get it out of your system and laugh your butts off right here so I dont have to suffer through it later), but it should show that if you have screens to show, just show em (no matter how crappy).

Cheers,
Preston

Somehow I very much doubt you remember my first posts at darkbasic.com forums;
For almost a year no one even knew who i was, i kept exclusively in the 3D forum which no many people went to back then.

Quote: "Am I the only person who remembers Ravens first post on the DB.com phorums?

The one where he claimed he was working at Rare on the next Perfect Dark engine... in DB. "

Some people just have screwed up faulty memories plain and simple.
There was a post where I had a conversation about how I was able to playtest the new Perfect Dark 2 on the GameCube because I had a mate who worked at Rare.

But as usual, people obviously decide to only read half my posts and they mesh all of them together at the same time; Simply because this was at the time of DBQuake/Inca/DBHalf-Life(mine) which really MORE was actually being talked about them in the polycount forums where myself and Halo both appeared from as we were both from the Quake Mod scene.

As for you Preston; kid you are far too full of yourself. I'd suggest you change your attitude; Just because you show work don't mean that somehow that is more impressive. You want to know why I don't show work very often anymore just take a look at Randi's 'Dawn of the Dead' post... I got sick and tired of crap like that happening!

just because work isn't shown often doesn't mean, there is nothing to show. I just don't like showing WIP models, ever.
This is a trait you'll find from alot of artists... and there is a reason behind it.

A strong suggestion here would be if you wish to actually get better at modelling rather than having alot of work just to show; you get rid of the attitude. It's why I can't stand posting in the 3D Forum anymore. Arrogant lil kids like yourself, who think just because they have a screenshot facility and a copy of 3D Canvas they're cock of the walk.

There is always someone better and alot of the users should learn that and use it to thier advantage like any sensible person would.

And yes Eldar i'm trying to get Sphere Harmonics working, only it is proving alot more difficult to work around the projection array as in DirectX it does it as part of the API; so been trying to remember how the heck to do it manually again lol

Ok, I haven't really been shot, but if I was it would probably be by a girl. A girl in a ninja suit.

At least that's what my regression therapist says.
