Pretty good.

I'm waiting for the actual character models before doing too much. The stuff Aura sent me has been really useful. I've now adapted it so that you can have, for instance, crates on a ship being thrown about whilst the ship rocks.

And especially for our resident pirate, UberWigget RobX, one of the levels is going to take place on a pirate ship. So far I have a fairly good pirate ship model I made. I'm going to make some cartoony pirates as well. As I mentioned I already have the character and crates etc. getting chucked all over the place. I may yet switch to Newton but it's looking alright for now.

My problem with that level at the moment is decent water. I currently am using a clever technique I came up with. I used some decent code to make a matrix look like water. I then positioned the camera dead above it. I then saved images of it at each stage of it's motion. I then load all those images in and texture a plain with them to form an animation. This saves on the slowness of a large matrix. However, it doesn't look that good. Any ideas here would be helpful.

Getting water to look good will be a hard task, maybe you could post a pic of what the water currently looks like and get feedback on what people think of it, and if most people think it's good then stick with it, if not ask for ideas, wish I could help with water. Search around the boards too. Also do you still check the RPG snippet thread? I've been recoding myself and added somethings in but haven't added everything in. Cuz right now I need help with some stuff that I'll post but I don't think it's been read for the past few days since FDM posted.

I'm getting broadband installed soon because my internet is messed up so thats why I hardly post.

My water effects O.K. now I have to different ones; one for calm water and one for open sea.

Whilst I'm waiting for the character models I'm making and FPS just for fun which I'll probably upload at some point. It is pretty cool with breaking glass and rolling barrels and stuff.

More news soon.

Once I get BroadBand I'll upload screenies. However, whilst I'm waiting for models I'm working on the level editor, my FPS and a project some guys from the CGTalk forums asked me to code around their models.

Per minute!? Man the UK has some hefty fees for internet. It's only like $30.00 a month for broadband where I live.

Yay!!!
BroadBand is mine!!!
The power!!!
The game hasn't progressed much because of the fact that our modeller still hasn't finished models or if he has he isn't telling!
Side projects are going well though. I'm getting better at collision and physics as well as level editors and first person shooters. I have nearly finished a 3D platform game which looks pretty cool and I'll get some screens or a demo from quite soon.

Damn it! That modeller guy either checks for e-mail once a month or he has quit without telling me! I'm going to have to start doing some cartoon models again myself.
I played Ultima IX recently and thought it had such potential but was ruined by unecessary flaws. However, there were several things in there which I may add in to my engine.

[Edit]Oh! By the way. I'm uploading the media and executable I promised. I'll upload the link as soon as it is done.[/Edit]

Hee Hee Hee! It's a monkey! Hee Hee Hee!
Yes. That is pretty cool! I'm sure they could be used as enemies for the pirate ship level. However, it doesn't look as if it has limbs. Yes I know it has arms and legs! I mean for animating.

Here is the executable and media.

Mesh deformation? That would take ages moving everything vertex by vertex. Limbs are so much easier. Single meshes are smoother though.

I tested the download and it took about 3 minutes on 1Mb connection.

Yeah I wish DBPro could support the IK joints which TrueSpace has. They work like bones. Animation is so much easier like that but I just stick with limbs as I know no other way.

Y'know........if you check the right export options .x saves the fluidity of boned animation without the confustication of bones in the actual file.

Hey's for horses dude

As I'm downloading the Rise of Tutopia demo, I am noticing the download time is a little long (40hrs, 50mins).
Would you like me to host for you? I've got a temporary host that's not much for web sites but is good for download storage.

Email me at crazydonutproductions@yahoo.com

Separate the media into chunks. Even if you don't want me uploading do you mind emailing me the file so I can play it? It looks pretty sweet.

The file is only about 18.2Mb zip. I'll e-mail it to you and I would be grateful if you did host it. Once you've uploaded it please post a link here.

I've got too bored waiting for models so I'm working on my own and using Psionic's dwarf as a stand in. I'm fixing the engine and doing some more work on design and the level editor.

Hmmm...nothing's showing up in the inbox.
Try sending it again, just to be sure you've got the address and stuff right. Yahoo only allows attaching files up to 10megs, that's the reason you need to separate it.

Try it and see. I've never uploaded that one before. It is the media and executable that goes with the source I uploaded a while ago. It includes scripting, simple AI, movement, animation and a battle engine and a few other things.

Controls:-
----------

W,A,S,D - Movement
Left Click - Normal Attack
Right Click - Clearance Attack
Space Key - Finishing Move

As I said before, please do not nick media.

I am having a few problems with making a head for my model but other than that I have a half decent character model. Well, half decent by my standards! Any offers to make a RPG main character model with limbs in .x or .3ds format would be massively appreciated!

O.K. It's because of the BCDP set out the files.
What you need to do is:
*Download the zip
*Extract the files
*Cut all the files except the one called Tutopia
*Paste them into the Tutopia folder
It worked for me like that

I played the second demo, and I have a question, space is attack right? And you're not supposed to be able to die, correct? And your not able to hurt the enemy?

I also have a question about the hud, for the actual decreasing of health are you just using a box that is under the sword thing and changing the color of it once it decreases to a certain point?
