Thanks. I love playing the guitar!
So you didn't like the camera? Damn! That took me ages!
Any suggestions for different camera?

I say either have it as a chase camera or put the game into the isometric viewpoint...

So do you reckon if I still had waypoints but made the moves slower or all from the same angle it would work? I don't know how I would do isometric. I originally had chase cam but it seemed slightly boring.

There is an isometric code snippet on teh code snippets forum.

Edit:
It's a Diablo Style Snippet you'll have to adjust it a bit.

I'm working on and have nearly finished a new function which is called thus:
Speech(TalkingObject,SpeechLine1$,SpeechLine2$,TimeToDisplayFor)
This then smoothly curves the camera to point at the talking object.
It also displays the image for the background of the speech and shows the text in the right position. It then returns the correct value for when it has been shown for long enough. Sorry for bad grammar but I didn't really know how to explain. I'll have to get another demo up some where soon.
My low poly character is coming along pretty good now. Just needs a head! I'll upload an image of the finished mesh soon and will be asknig for someone to help with the texture.

I had to re-start the model cause I found loads of polygons showing where they weren't meant to and it was a complete mess.
I've got the new foot done and it is pretty nice but still a little way to go.

I fixed those nastly leg joints in the first picture. I've got the upper arms done and am starting the lower arms and hands. Yes it's going to be a human. So once it's animated can someone try and texture it for me.

I can't remember. Try the Dark BASIC Classic and Code Snippets forums and do a search for 'memblock' or 'matrix'.

Yes, what did you use to make the heightmap for the memblock matrix? (I ask about the heightmap because you mentioned you made a heightmap for the matrix in 3Dbeth's thread.)

Strata Works and Terrain Media Generator v1.1.
As I mentioned there I can make you some if you want but you'll probably want to make your own. You can find the programs in either Work In Progress or Program Announcements. Search for 'Strata' or 'TMG'.

Well you can download the demo and export the heightmap and texturemap. You then open TMG1.1 and load the heightmap and texture into it and then generate a shadowmap and then blend the texture and shadowmap. Alternatively, you create the whole lot in TMG1.1.
To blend the bitmaps just have a look in Code Snippets for 'blend'.

O.K. I'm getting a bit more serious on this now as I have a deadline. Due to this I have decided to go back to cartoony models because they are quicker to make. I will save the guy I've been working on for something else.

I'm trying to decide whether to use .x objects, DB primitives or thos memblock matrices. What do you guys think? Despite looking nice, I was planning on a dungeon theme so the memblock matrices might not be much good. If I go for .x objects do I use one large .x object or do I make library of objects to load and position? However boring they are, the DB primitives texture nicely would make collision so easy. Any ideas?

Hmmmmm
It would be easier to use chunks of objects(walls sections, secenery, etc.), because then you could have a level editor in which you position objects and save their positions/rotations. Then you could release this so people could make maps for Realms of Tutopia (think NWN).

In general though I'd imagine you'd want to cut your level up into at least different chunks of rooms so that you can delete past chunks after loading new ones to save speed.

...
Did you hear that?

Oh never mind! Just kidding!

I have the walls and pillars made and added to the object library but still alot to do.

It is more Diablo/RTS style movement. I'm still working on it.
The level editor can now use all the basic parts and position them. It can then save them and load them into the game. I've got the basis of movement done but I'm still trying to find the best possible controls.

Thanks.
I might try and make some level editors for specific genres and then release them. eg.A level editor for a FPS and a level editor for a 2D platforer...
That way everyone will have at least a basis for a level editor whatever game they are making pretty much.

I have also put that guy I showed you a few posts back into the game(still untextured). It works alright but I'll make a cartoony character again soon.

I can't help myself from starting millions of projects. I keep having ideas and wanting to make them and then nothing gets done.
I'm currently working on:
-Realms Of Tutopia I: The Rise Of Evil
-A RTS
-A FPS
-A pre-rendered game where it is made up of plains with animated textures and transparencies
-Several level editors
I'm also in the last year of High School (GCSEs) so I have really got no time what so ever! I need to be less imaginative or more sensible!

More sensible, or put a certain priorty on each of the projects like Tutopia is the most important, than others...

Anyways the level editor idea sounds, I hope it actually happens because you have alot of skill in making them.

Ooh! Post 200!
Having changed the camera in the versionn I released I found it really quite fun and exciting! I may stick with that control.
I'm thinking of making the next Tutopia more Final Fantasy style. Basically, sort of FF9 style. Pre-rendered battles and effects etc. Could be quite fun to do...
