Brilliant, thanks Merix !...as soon as iget it ill upload it.
Im currently working on the next demo..this ones gonna be big !...im making it in sections to load in and it should cover a good few styles from the original game...im just working on the castle.
Also i am constantly getting feedback from the JazzJackRabbit Forums with their opinions on how the game should look, behave ete, and this is going into the game aswell.
@SaberDude: I would love to give the code i have dude but its painfully little, ive been so busy adding new functionality to the game that i havnt even touched the editor for a while now. Sorry bout that.

Finally I got the time to texture (mapping put a UV-map takes time ) the Jazz model. at least starting on the texturing. Sinse there is already a model in the game very true to the original look of the introduction for Jazz2, I figured I could play around with it a bit more.. I've looked at both original art and fan art to come up with what I've got so far.. though its not much I desided to make a preview sinse I'm taking a smal brake anyway. I've added a bit of realism to the current style.. trying to take the character to the next level.. kinda.

Anyway, what you see here is work in progress, changes will be made to the face.. and more detail will be added.

Yeah well there goes my responce in the last two posts !
Great work man, i see what you mean about the more realistic part now looks sweet !
Seriously looking foreward to gettin him in game!

p.s. Merix has kindly got the demo working on his computer so i have the fixed '.exe' file so i'll upload that later, also i think from now on ill just put up the sourcecode so that It can be compiled by anyone with DBP (its ok i'll put up the compiled file for those without DBP) this will save the hastle we had this time !

Ok stuff it...just realised that it appears Merix has compiled in fullscreen exclusive mode which has murdered the frame rate !...so im going to put up all the source later.
Feel free to look through the code but id advise against using it in other projects until i have finsished as it needs serious optimisation.

Ok for those who had troubles here is the media and source code for the project, the character control and camera control has been surgically removed, but its just the demo so it doesnt matter, ive tried to organise the project reasonable well.

Oh and as i couldnt be bothered to remember all the image and sounds numbers I wrote a little system to call them by name, this does eat a little fps so i have to find a quicker way of doing it.
Have Fun...if you spot any stupid mistakes in the code or want any particluar bit commented just post here.

The Code
http://www.unseenconcept.net/JazzJackRabbit/JazzCode.zip
The Media
http://www.unseenconcept.net/JazzJackRabbit/JazzMedia.zip

Oh only one thing, ONLY RUN IT IN 'Windowed - Full Screen' Mode as other modes murder the fps.
Enjoy !

Slowly recently, ive had so much work on...However the really good news is that there is a high possibility that Jake Miller will be working on levels soon which will be great, ive been looking through some of his past work and the detail is lovely. So ill post back tommorow with the update on that front.
Other than that I took a little break for a few hours and wrote the start of a vector system for DBC, if you have it and wouldnt mind trying it out have a look on the DarkBAsic Board.
Thanks for the interest, hope ill be updating more often soon !

Thanx for helping me dude!
I wish you luck with the making of your jazz jackrabbit game..
Those were great games..
I loved Jazz jackrabbit when I was younger..still do!

I can help you with some of the models..
I can animate, but there's a whole TON of errors with some of my animating programs..I'll get around to fixing them..

Just a few questions I have about the game to help me figure out what I should put into the levels.

Is there a story I should be keeping in mind? Should the levels transition from one setting (say forest) to another setting (interior of castle).

Is there camera collision with the world? For example, say the player was to run into a corner and then turn around swinging the camera into the wall.

Jazz 2 had a number of secret areas, were you planning on implementing some sort of “trigger” system to let the player into hidden areas depending on number of collected items or hints to a riddle?

[edit] K, just read (in a manner of speaking) your thread on the Jazz forum, wow, those guys are posting maniacs. If you could, go ahead and answer my questions here. The 8 pages from the other forum helped but that is too much to try and catch up with in one sitting.

@Monkey shine: Thanks man, do you mind if i see any of your past work? id love for you to help, but ill let ya get those programs working first !

@PudBawl: Hi man, hehe yep they are enthusiastic posters, its hard to keep up !

1) At the moment, no story to worry about, im currently on a huge Demo to finalise the engine, im planning a small 'diamondus' section, a 'castle' section and a 'weirder science' section.

2) I have worked on some camera collision and while it still needs some tuning, it will be in the final game.

3) Yes please !...the trigger system is one of the next things im working on, so please feel free to design them in your levels.

The demo is literaly a world test, where you start in the castle and then leave via the tubes from the original to any of the other zones. Im trying to incorperate most activities from the original into the demo, so the flying board may make an appearance....Prehaps i could have each different zone as a differnt island in the demo, we could try a underwater zone then !
I can code whatever speed increasing functions you would like, if you want a high poly object to be replace with a low one after a set distance then thats fine, feel free to split up the world into chunks that can be culled induvidualy, ill write the code to pick which ones are visable.
Other than that its in your court really, feel free to make crazy concept sketches and mail them to me or post them here and we will work this out. If you want REAL analysis though, post on the jazz boards in my thread, they know exactly what jazz is about far more than i do !..warning though, they are jazz junkies so they can be a harsh if it isnt very true to the original !
Good luck !

you see, I just changed my name, and it's taking me as a new member, so I have to wait for my posts for like 30 minutes..and I can't edit my post because it hasn't posted yet,

so I didn't want to wait to ask what models do you need?
I'll take the list thing..

Baggers, may I ask how your sliding collision is working? I looked at the code but because sme variables weren't in the include and I didn't have the time to go and open them all up I couldn't make sense of how the collision was working so you could explain what a few of the parts are doing please? It would be greatly appreciated if you could.

@'Mantis Games': http://www.sapphiresoft.co.uk/
Im with this lot and ive been very impressed. I never trust anywhere that says unlimited bandwidth and unlimited space so here was great, very honest...the customer support was great as i had never had hosting before these guys and they always got back to my questions within a day.
You can have a .com address for $1 a month..which is ok really....you just have an $8 starting price to get the domain...but after that the payment is small enough that you dont notice.
I pay from my bank account but if your too young to have one convince a parent to do it and play them $1 a month.

Finally what i really like is that you dont even have to have a site, you can just use it as a place to hotlink to.

@Anime Blood: Im going to be in the woods for the next few days but hwne i get back ill have a go for you....really its not decent sliding collision but i can explain the principles to you. Ill be back by sunday.

@all: so no updates for a few days folks, im in need of a good camp.

Hey Baggers, I'm posting this as I'm running out the door so excuse the rushed nature of the movies, but this should give you a clear idea of the flow of the diamondus level. As you will be able to see the player will never be able to gain ground by falling. No movie preview of the castle yet.

Also the fly throughs of the level are of a slightly older version, but you'll get the general idea. The .x is of my newest version, still very much a WIP though, not everything is triangulated or nicely "stitched" together yet.

Most of them, I May have to subdivide, but to make the model NOT slow up the game, it's going to look less real..

I'l start working on them RIGHT NOW!!
