Asheron is definitely a bloke, going by a slip-up he made when posting once, referred to himself as a he.

Kinda creepy to do that if you ask me, I mean it would be understandable for a woman to pretend to be a man here, but the other way round...There's also that incident where he pretended to die - although despite this strangeness he was a fairly decent person, a good mod on RGT too.

We're going down... in a spiral to the ground...

See this is nice, we newcomers get to hear stories about the older members from RGT, its kind of exciting.

nooooooo I'm an unknown.

Oh well, I really don't post that much on anything but the wip.

And even though I'm still here all the time, my most known people list would be a lot like Drews, 'cause everyone seemed to be in a bigger league when I was new.

Anyways you should add Megaton or "Aticat" to the list. I'd add Seppuku Arts too. That guy's everywhere.

Yeah, can't wait to hear the story about Cash Curtis. I bet there's alot of interesting stories behind that avatar.

Oh oh! Quiet! It begins!

STORY TIME!

*All the younger members gather around the Board, their eyes glitter with excitement. Zombie 20 seemed so excited as he leaned over the board and fell on OBese87's post, making the post all garbled up, making no sense whatsoever.*

I don't think Cash was around in the old RGT days.

Quote: "Does anyone remember a guy called Obese?"

Yeah. He used to write a lot of his posts in binary if I remember correctly. He also was always asking to be voted to moderator, even though there was no election being held. He was really just a spammer.

Quote: "The Master Coder"

There was a post on the Binary Zoo forums a little while back about the old RGT days. TMC's name was mentioned and he "showed up" and made a few posts. He is still working on car physics games and seems to be doing well! You can check out some of his latest stuff here:
http://www.kjmsoftware.co.uk/auto_cross_racing/auto_cross_racing.htm

There are a couple of different lists that could be made. There are the "most well known" as the title suggests. Then there are "the best coders". Then you could break it down further to those "currently here", and a "Best Ever" category.

Most of the names that I would mention have already been said.

Here are some other old names worth mentioning though:
Digger
Dragon Master Andrew
40thieves
Flaming Amoeba/White Eagle
LeLurch
Sgt.Slammy
Tracer
Warpy

I could go on forever. lol
Most of those names were pre-RGT!

Hey, what ever happened to RobK?

I'd have to say, in no particular order:

Agent Dink
JessT
Hobgoblin Lord
Jeku
VanB
Dazzag
The cat formerly known as Megaton
Cash Curtiss II
Kevin Picone
CR
Josh
Diggsey
Manticore Night
Benjamin
ChrisK
Indi
Bizar Guy
Tinkergirl
FredP
... and I'm sure I'm missing people but my mind is elsewhere at the moment. I'll actually read the thread some other time, say "wow, how could I have missed such and such," and make ammendments in the future .

A list that sprang to my mind:

TDK (Programming)
Barnski (Winsock Plugin)
Kjelle69 (Newton Wrapper)
Seppuku Arts (Modelling)
Tinkergirl (Design Tutorials)

...There'll be a lot more, but off the top of my head, I immediately thought of this lot.

In real life, I do that the same way. My name would be Rami Ismail, but they keep pronouncing it Rami Ismael. Everytime I hear that I shout back that its Ismail. Seems problems you have in real life tend to have a virtual version as well.

Most well known to me would be VanB, Wolf and Indi.

I remember the good old days. I went under the name Dead Glory for many years and some of you probably recal that name. Back in 2001 when I started on DBC 1.09 (pre RGT) I think I got pretty famous on one of the boards, can't remember which. I won the DBC multiplayer contest! During RGT I was one of the most famous. When I was the first who reached 1000 posts GuyS renamed the rank for 500 posts to "You post as much as DG"

That was a crazy time. Never been like that ever since GuyS quit. RGT was the official Dark Basic forum for a while and it had a lot of long time DBC users. It was before all the newbies you see on Apollo. Which was why a lot of us RGT users didn't move over to Apollo when it opened.

I'd have to say IanM, VanB, and APEXnow from Apollo forums.

I bought dbc 1.08 (and eventually dbp) from RGT, and I recall visiting those old forums back then to ask a few questions but I dont remember my original screen name or other user's names from there That might have been in the end of 2000 or early 2001? I dont recall when dbc 1.08 came out.

DA,

I remember when you released the demo for "the magic land" which I was very impressed with

I think my list is:
VanB (since lonewolf),
Kangaroo2 (since his "coding a fps game in one week" project),
Mullvalen (helped me with the distance formula using sqrt),
TK (useful math snippets and his game DarkWarriors),
Digital Awakening (since "the magic land")
Lassix (since limefly)

And some I remember from llrgt: xtrade, prime8, drakex and manic

I allways afraided from a clowns. aww..

[edit] Is RGT long enough ago to be "back in the day"? And if so, what do you now call what was "back in the day" when RGT was "in the day"?

I pretty sure you can be a 'Most well known' for being here 12 months.
I think those who know me know me for annoying questions that are asked before, arent worth answering, and ones that only dont work because of me.

I still wish I knew who indi was.

The other thing I want to point out is that by most well known, I dont mean who you think is the most well known to you. I mean who you think is most prominent on the forums.

I cant believe this is a hot topic.

Not even a strait suit, you, caramel, the recycling bin, uber code, and chuck norris combined can keep me safe from me. Mostly cuz I exist.

Alright, first off indi was a well known mod who was a little too outspoken, he sometimes blew up at people but could bottle it up too. One day he snapped and started bitching at everyone and left with a note saying how bad tgc is.

I remember him not being a mod, and he was *always" helpful to people who needed it.

I'd put jordan story games on that list, just out of sheer annoying-ness. People knew who he was for a few months.

And still, no Doctor on the list...

My most well known members would be the mods and anybody who has created a legendary/great program or game e.g. Benjamin, Cash Curtis II etc. . Well that was quite a lazy list

Funny thing was, I was going to mention you, but didn't...so er...well I guess I could rectify that by saying Kinda Young Programmer. But I'm sure there's several unmentioned still...especially the ones that left long enough ago...I mean who remembers Stalker? (I think it was him) Ah he was a great modeller, I remember he started working on models for a Mexican style game. Then there's Psycho Gary, he left because he had no internet connection but I found him coming onto MSN a few times after on a friend's computer, I hear he did well on working with his game, does anyone remember that, it looked pretty kickarse at the time.

Also, I didn't see anyone mention BigAdd, I'd say he's well known and maybe Mike Inel, especially for his er...nVidia incident that I'm sure is something we can laugh about in the near future.
