Quote: "The communication needs to sound more cryptic...and I doubt the Russians would use the words "puny" or "oblivion"."

Yeh, well I've never met a Russian to see how they talk, and it's was more of a "placeholder" anyway.....

Quote: "I've never heard of a fusion bomb"

Based on the hot fusion theory, they don't actually exist, but fusion is a theory currently undergoing tests, like in Spiderman 2, that thing Doc Ock makes is essentially a fusion reactor, (like the sun)....

The bomb would be called something like, "mighty bear", but in Russian.....

Quote: "Nuclear reactor = overused."

Indeed, I' try something like a huge testing facility/complex, that contains the heart of the Rusian war machine, at the end, You could have a Halo 1 style mad dash to a chopper, as you set the bomb to explode, destroying the facility and crippling Russia into submission....

You could have a set path that the player will follow, enemies pop out now and then to slow you down, you could have a great ending sequence with the chopper flying away and a huge supernova-like explosion erupting behind it....

Good luck with this, as I see you are not that devoted to it....

Well, I didn't mean become a Hermit in your bedroom until it's finished, I meant you seem like the kinda guy who walks up to his PC, thinks, says."S**** it." Then goes and spends 3 hours playing CTF on Halo 3....

I'm more of a Splinter Cell fan more than Halo; I hate Halo, why did I ever buy it? And online gaming's not for me, but whenever I can get a Steam game installed, I'll play it once in a while.

Kola is going to be slowed to a crawl until St. Patrick's day, hopefully I'll get $50 by then.

Dude, why is your whole development so reliant on getting MP9 and MP10?
Sure it's going to get you a bunch of guns, but it's nothing that a whole bunch of other people don't already have. I mean surely the thing that'll make your game stand out isn't the range of guns you can shoot, but the way you design the environment and the story fr the player experience. You could be building whole levels while you wait to buy the model packs, and as soon as you can afford it you just drop in the enemies and the guns.

Just decided to bump this thread.

I will be working on the CIA level today and post some screens up. The CIA HQ level will be quite a nice one, for example, a sample script for one part:

Mercenary 1: Sergei, where is the server?
Merc 2: Colonel Kashabov is retrieving it currently. Oh dang!
Merc 3: Sergei, what is it?
Merc 2: There are reports of an American commando reaching the server!
Merc 7: Help us! Colonel, help--(static)
Merc 4: Valerisck is down, I repeat, Valerisck is dow--(static)
Colonel: Get up off your lazy bums! We have an intruder!!
Merc 1: But sir--
Colonel: I scanned a few blood samples from the floor; sample A is one agent Vincent Marbour--I can't say it!
Merc 3: I interrorgated an office worker. The password is 5A-756J9.
Merc 1: Repeat?
Merc 3: 5A-756J9.
Colonel: The server? Hello?
Merc 1: We're in.
Colonel: Good. Look up the foreign commando.
CO (Marbourough's boss): Marbourough, stay still. We disconnected your files. Hopefully they'll turn around and go home.
Colonel: What the--!
Merc 3: GPA! Where is the commando?! Look on the GPA!
Merc 1: Main hall! Main hall! Load up; we're gonna kill him.
Merc 2: I see him!!
CO: Marbourough, what is going on? (disconnects; static)

Well, how do you guys like it? This level will be very complex. Hopefully I'll get a screen up soon.

Pretty good, besides the fact that it is completely clean.

When have you heard a merc say "Oh dang!"

I guess that's just because you posted it on the forums.

Thank you for your kind words. I'm actually pretty anti-swear, but only around my friends. If they swear, I make a pained face like this: .

Hopefully the folks let me use a few swear words in Kola.

Just so this thread doesn't die...

I am currently working on a part of level 1. I might get $50 for my birthday coming up in a few weeks (shouldn't and won't post my age; paedophiles lurk the Internet) to get the model packs I need. Until then, expect a few screens soon!

Yeah, you should. It's like crying wolf. People go
"Oh, he's made a new post, it might be some screenies"

and then they click and it's just a bump, with nothing, and then that happens like 5 times, and you just stop checking in to this thread, cos there's never anything new to see, just you musing about getting 50 bucks to buy model pack of guns.

Well, actually, I'll start off putting the full game on FileFront. If a lot of people (over 1,500) download and play it, then I'll see about opening up a PayPal account.

You need your parents permission to type swear words into a script that they will never see??? :S

You may be anti-swear, but the fact is that a colonel wouldn't say: "Get off your lazy bums." ,

He'd be like: "What the h**l are you sitting around for you stupid maggots? Get off your a**es and MOVE!"

Colonel Ponce by any chance? ;P

yup thats true...i agree wit slayer222 on this one...
you do change your storyline alot, so why is it you do that...?
is there something bothering you about it?
or is it trying to create a good game....?
i mean, come on...your gonna create a good game anyways...
you should come up with some story lines before changing it again. before choosing the one you want to stick with...then absoutely change it when its already good...but anyways...thats a pretty good story line...might have to re-edit first before you continue, can be racist to some...or at least...put alot of pressure on ppl...

Well, why would it be racist? I think almost the whole world is against terrorism. I think I'm torturing you people; changing things just to see what your reactions are.

Right... so in what way was it racist? Post it here and we can tell you if it's bad enough that you should change the story. I really doubt any AQ log onto the FPSC forum anyway.

Quote: "Well, why would it be racist? I think almost the whole world is against terrorism."

;S I dont get what you mean there, AQ are a terrorist group, I don't really think you can be racist towards them... They are not all one nationality.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

Well, you never know. Terrorists might be scanning the Internet on some cheap computer, looking for information through hacking into the CIA main server.

And no, I'm not a terrorist, don't ask me why I guessed these answers.

Quote: "I don't really think you can be racist towards them... They are not all one nationality"

well, they're not all one nationality, but they are an extremist group, so they are all one religion. But it's not like AI is saying "Down with the Muslims" hes talking about fighting terrorism.

Whatever, there are 100s of games that have you senselessly shooting people of different cultures (predominantly russian, german and Muslim/arab).

It's not so much a racist concept as a tired old one.

As a point, can anyone even thing of a terrorist act since 7/7 that Al-quaeda have taken responsibility for?

ANYWAY.

back on topic. There's nothing wrong with American Infantry changing his story, he made a post with the story and asked for crit, which he recieved, and then he altered the story accordingly. That's not a bad thing, that's taking on-board some constructive criticism and working with it. Good on him.

Whatever, in my opinion the second story was much weaker than the first.

If you're so intent on doing terrorism, how about something like this:

September 12th 2008, US and UK forces discover intelligence pointing to the supposed whereabouts of Al-quaeda Frontman Osama Bin Laden, he's believed to be in hiding in a remote area of the Helmand Province in Afghanistan.

The US dispatch a special operations unit to capture (or eliminate) Osama.

The first few levels of the game play out in Helmand Province, with the player fighting through reams of generic, turbaned, arab terrorists (apparently this kind of racist steriotyping is ok, as long as you stress they are terrorists)- if you are muslim and offended at this point, please read on, I'm being deliberately cynical

So, having fought through a couple of levels, you reach the epicenter of the operation, a complex cave system, underneath a poppy field, opium is thick in the air and the enemies barely feel the pain of your M16 rounds, they're so doped.

But as you reach the location of osama marked on your GPS, the control center is abandonned, it hasn't been used in years. Nothing but rotting raw opium and dis-spirited old Taliban fighters.

The roar of bombers shatters the relative silence, and cluster bombs rain down on the camp, you team is killed, and you are buried alive in the caves.

Waking days later you find yourself stretched out in a mud shack. Your head is fuzzy, your uniform and weapon gone. What happened?... damn, they've been doping you with opium to keep you out of pain. Crashing from the shack, you run through the village until you reach the main hut, a group of old men sit smoking shisha, and watching football on a cracked out old television. Snatching the remote control you flip through the channels to CNN. Ignoring their shouts of protest, you turn up the volume...

"In further news from Helmand province, Taliban Leader, and CIA most wanted, Osama Bin Laden was killed during a prolonged gun battle between US soldiers and Taliban extemists. 15 US service men died during the battle, but a final radio transmission late on Friday evening confirmed that the al-Qaeda front man had been killed during the confrontation...."

THe remote slips from your hand in disbelief. Shoving you from the hut, the men resume their football. You sit in the dust outside. There were 14 other men in your squad. This is a heinous coverup. Osama was never here, its just a spin-stunt to stop investigations into 9/11.

After weeks of travelling you cross the boarder into the relative safety of Iran, heading straight for the US embassy. Disorientated, sick and tired you try to explain your situation to the sheepish looking receptionist.

Gunfire cuts the air, and the front windows shatter. YOu dive behind the reception desk as civilian and political aides erupt into red clouds of claret. Balaclava clad men storm though the door, pulling up male civilians, checking their ID and shooting them, soon they'll reach you. Grasping in the dust, your hand clasps around steel. A security guard's glock tight in your hand.

Sliding backwards into a backroom, you await your fate. One of the armed assailants creeps in, unaware of your presence. You aim the pistol to the back of his knee, a waterbottle against the barrel as a rudimentary suppressor. You squeeze the trigger, there's a pop, and he falls to the floor screaming. Hopefully the cries of pain outside cover his shouts. Disarming him you rip off his balaclava. fear grips you. He's american.

"He's in here!" He cries, before you empty a second round into his jaw. Snatching up his smg, you beat a retreat into the crowded streets.

It looks like the Powers that be are aware you survived, and that you know information that could shame the entire administration. The people you fought for, the people your friends gave their lives for, are now hunting you. Except unlike Binladen, the reason you are being hunted can never be revealed...

THe rest of the game could play out with the Player fighting american/terrorist troops hunting him down. You've got the backdrop of Iran to fight it out in... SOrry for rambling on so long, I got quite into writing that story!

@ Butters: Whenever I do a game on terrorism, I'll be sure to use that storyline.

@ everyone: I've decided that one of the levels in Kola will involve you fighting in a large, open field to get to a bunker. You'll be fighting snipers, riflemen and grenadiers. I'll be sure to get so,e foilage in, though.

google it dude, it works...to a degree.

The muzzleflash burns the oxygen in the bottle causing a vacuum, sound wont travel if there are no molecules to vibrate, so it's suppressed, just a loud pop from the other end of the bottle bursting.

To be totally honest, I saw it on CSI last night, and thought it sounded like a plausable concept!!!

CSI itself ain't to plausible IMO I'll look up that bottle silencer thing though. But the chance of AI keeping a storyline, no matter how good, much less make an actual game is probably as likely as Crysis coming out for the PS3.

There is going to be a Crysis 2 in 2010 and a Crysis 3 sometime after. Its a trilogy, thank goodness as the ending sucked so much. They should have just said "To be continued..." instead Oh and its for PC only so far.

Well, I've never played Crysis, so...

Anyways, level 1 for Kola will be set in a big, open field with a minimum amount of trees and shrubs (it's in northern Russia, what do you expect), a medium amount of buildings (farmhouses, barns, etc. and a whole lotta baddies! Also, if v1.09 will have them, there'll be other soldiers fighting alongside you, armed with M16A4s and sniper rifles.

I have a WIP dialogue of the first level:
(player moves to a small shed)
Cmdr. Bradley: Alpha, there is a small group of tangos up to the right of the barn. Bravo, move up to the bunker; dispatch an RPK up there. You, Marbourough--
Marbourough (player): Yes, sir?
Cmdr.: Tag along with Bravo. They might need a punching bag to drag along with them.
Alpha Leader: Sir, we've spotted a sniper up ahead, he may need a 5.56 to the head.
Cmdr.: Roger that. Bravo, who there has a sniper rifle?
Bravo Leader: The new guy has found one, sir. Should he use it?
Cmdr.: He'll probably need proper snipin' training anyways, give 'im a shot.
(both teams continue fighting until they come to a farmhouse)
Cmdr.: GPS shows both teams near the farmhouse. What's you status, over?
Alpha Leader: Alpha's good, but Pvt. Jenkins has a minor leg wound. He's doin' fine, though.
Bravo Leader: Bravo's okay, too. No injuries here.
Cmdr.: Good.
Alpha Leader: Men, reconnaissance shows that a few AKs are up ahead, along with a grenadier. The one tango just has a box of 'nades up his sleeves, nothin' else.
Cmdr.: Good spotting, Alpha. Eliminate the convoy; we may never have another shot.
Marbourough: I have found an M203.
Bravo Lead: New guy, use that M203 to destroy the soldiers.
(both teams move up to nearby bunker)
Cmdr.: Okay men, that about patched it up. No intel here. Marbourough, you're going in solo. Infiltrate the bunker and find any information they might have.
Marbourough: Sir yes sir!
Cmdr.: Glad you understand. You're doin' pretty well for a doggone maggot like yerself. But don't be askin' for any medals, buddy. (long pause) *clears throat* Anyways, Alpha 'n Bravo, secure the perimeter. Marbourough, you get in that bunker and uncover any intel the Russians might be hiding. Move out!
(player opens gate to trenches; mission ends)

Well, how was it? Please rate x/10, and don't forget this: leave a .50 caliber under your pillow; you never know...

Alright then, so now you're gonna wat 'til summer to make this game.....

Face it AI, it's not your resources, it's you!

Sorry to be harsh, but that's what the truth is, You're constantly putting your game creation impotence down to what You've got in your entitybank, well, A good cook never blames his tools, 'cos he can work with 'em, there's people who are doing perfectly well with what they've got.....

Go look at The Unspoken, a guy who registered a week ago is seriously caning you in terms of lighting, entity placement,etc....

Please, stop blaming your lack of stuff,(which I doubt, you've probably got more than enough, considering the amount of generous free stuff here), stop changing your stories, and get real!

First it was 'cos you didn't have MP 9&10, now it's 'cos you don't have V2, the truth is harsh, AI, stop blaming others for what you can't do....

My opinion is that I can be a bit of a slacker at times, but I just don't understand myself at times. Sorry for being so idiotic, and I'll try and work with what I have until my birthday. Cool? Alright, then.

Here is a (horrid, in my opinion) bunker that I whipped up in an hour. Rate x/10, thank you. Also, the light entities seemed to have disappeared for no reason. I wonder...

Lower the lights so you don't get that circle on the ceiling.

The light sources, not the entities.

The main character's special forces team is now a counter-terrorist team that acts like the army. Since the terrorists are also in the USA, the missions will be switching between Russia and the US. Gives it more balance, in myopinion.
