Oh, now YOU'RE saying Kola's "copying" off of COD4?! That's just great; one more mouth to shut.

Yep, I hate COD 4, it wrecked the whole COD series for me. But what I have played seems pretty much like what you've described. The level with the fields and barns, the "Alpha" and "Bravo" teams who both treat you like a noob. It rings lot's of bells. Oh and the way you have to do everything is also a huge similarity to COD 4, where your teammates are about as useful as toasters, less even, as they just get in the way. Whatever though, I'm sure the story will change in a day or two.

I don't mean to turn this thread into a COD 4 debate, but how the heck could you not love that game?

As previously said, you can't really be racistist towards them. As Butters said they are all of one religion, but i spose that would come under bigotry? Correct me if i'm wrong please.

Anyway.

Don't keep making little excuses like this. When you have something proper and concrete, THEN post it. Otherwise you're just wasting your time. :s

People can compare your game to COD4 because it is similar, but adding nukes into this game would be the icing on the cake.

Nukes are not going to be in the game, but there is a missile that the player has to deactive in level 27. Level 30 will be where you assassinate the leader of the terrorists and you have to escape his palace. The missile will be a fusion missile, though. And AI teammates are usually as helpful as toasters in most video games, anyways.

Not to turn this thread into an anti-COD 4 flame war, but I hate COD 4 cause it's super hyped up (along with Halo 3) I swear I saw a commercial on TV for it and that just makes me want to puke. The game play is nooby (no offense intended) and in the short time I played (maybe 2 games) I had already leveled up. It's not super horrible, but not something worth 50 bucks to me. Maybe if I got it for free I might play it sometime. Now Crysis is a favorite of mine and it WAS very hyped. But the hype was about a very useless thing (graphics) so I don't really care. The game is original and very exciting. The storyline also (surprisingly these days) doesn't involve Russians or Middle eastern terrorists. You might say "it's sci-fi though!" To which I would reply "It takes place in 2010 and most of the game is fighting Koreans". Maybe I'm a fan-boy, but if so, the game deserves it.

On another topic, AI, 30 levels, coming from you that made my day. Give us 5 well done ones and that will be plenty... And amazing.

The end of you post came at the right time. It took me more than 45 minutes to get this one whipped up. It's a media room from the CIA HQ (WIP) level. There are other entities in the room, though, like a water cooler, two chairs, a fax machine, and computer servers. I used full shaders on this one. Rate x/5; enjoy!

Well done AI. That's a good screenshot there. I await one of these "Large, outdoor environments" you were talking about previously.

A bit of advice, the script you posted previously is so cliche I chocked on my cup of tea

Alpha team, bravo team, the seemingly emotionless commander who actually really cares for his team, the rookie soldier, it's all too much! Give us something original : D

I wouldn't think soldiers would pause on the field for a debate about who gets to shoot the big sniper rifle while getting hammered by enemy fire. War is a serious matter but in the script it's like they treat it as a game (excuse the pun). All soldiers would have some sniper training. If not then there would be a sniper in their team, unless he's been shot. Even then the most reliable soldier would take up the sniper rifle.

Why is the commander sending a rookie on a solo mission? It's just a cliche, generic scenario. Mix it up a bit man.

Perhaps the commander is shot dead, sending his team into a panic. Getting hit hard with shells most of the team are killed or scattered. The character you play findings himself alone, outside the enemy bunker. As shells rain down all around him his only option is to run inside and carry on the misson alone.

Go to fps-files.com, go to Model Packs, and search for LBS Pack. For the desk, it's, I think, Thought Zone (it has table and weapon holder in the description).

That's a nice offer, but since only 3 or 4 of the 30 levels will be outdoors (hopefully it gets bounced up to 10, which may happen) then hills aren't really needed. And, if I remember correctly, the Kola Peninsula isn't very hilly.

Where did you download that computer tower?
I just would like to know. Also, would anyone know
of a matching monitor?

But on topic: The screen shots look very nice in my opinion.
Keep it up and don't quit. Get the job done!

Decided to comment again, seeing as you have some more screens. I don't like the last one (not your layout of it, the wall paper just makes me want to puke ), but the shot before it (yes, the one with the missing light sources) looked very good, I liked the contrast of the bright white light in the back against the shadows.

Good luck to you,
Paul

Obviously, the levels will be small to half-medium size due to FPSC's restrictions. But yeah, I'll tone it down to around 12-19 levels.

Yeh, exactly. I somehow doubt you've sat and planned out 30 levels each with triggers, story events and God knows what else.

As they said, tone it down. A game can be great with only 3 levels! Plan it out and see what you're left with.

EDIT

no, its free and the new version works great. The only problem is when you walk with a gun the stepping sound repeats really fast.
You can get a okay fps (about 10) and it runs as smooth as silk.

Bit of a contradiction there. You do realize most cartoons run at 14fps? Ten frames a second is a joke for a 3D game.

AI, try to make 2-3 levels first, then see which direction you'd like to go. To make any kind of decent design for 10+ levels is going to take a lot of work.

Hmm considering:

Flash games=12 fps,

TV broadcasts=25 fps,

standard "modern" games=40-60 fps

I'd say that sucked, wouldn't you?

Don't worry; even if I don't get the BotB rank later on, at least I was recommended, and that's all that matters. Of course, I'd love to see a BotB rank under my name...

EDIT: I hear that the MP 9/10 weapons have ironsights. Should I keep them whenever I get the packs? Just a little poll for y'all.
