Those screen effects were really awesome! Was that motion blur I saw in there too?
The assault rifle looks really nice too. In conclusion, everything looks really nice. Keep up the good work.

Update:

I'm working on a christmas present for the fans of Alpha Project. I'll be rereleasing the demo with everything I've worked on so far. I'll hopefully release it before xmas, if theres no bugs or anything.

Also, I've made a new loader that protects my game files, and it has an update function on so you can see the latest version!

More to come soon!

The game looks very different to others I have seen here, I like the HUD and everything else in this! On an unrelated note: I checked out your website too, looks very professional! And that same professional style is show in your videos too! I'll be keeping an eye on both the game and your site!

Update:

Only a small update. I've been working on coding the enemies to use DarkAI and ragdoll. I've also been updating the characters to use bond1's new shadow shader, and the characters look even more awesome!

I've also redone the elevators design from the stock FPSC:

@ Lewis

My wife and I have been watching this project closely. Very impressive work. It's the detail and thought put into your designs that gives us the inspiration when we do our developments. Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your progress.

We look forward to your new demo.

Looks great man.

I have played some of it and i'm liking it so far.
However, I would reccomend you take out about half the gore. It's a little over the top

And when that first enemy comes, it scared me SO bad. I heard him say something about a heat signal on the radio, and i was expecting it to be in the next room. I turned around I my skin crawled! Great scare there!

I am Southern, and I love Grits. Feel free to ask me what grits are if your a yankee

Hey lewis:

I was wondering, how did you change the material sounds without getting errors? Because thats what happens every time with me. I cant figure it out... Your video was awesome, by the way!

@Gorlocks suggestions,

Open up the sound in an audio editor like goldwave and just copy and replace, then save.

Remember guys, this is Alpha Project's thread, not a helpdesk.

Update:

Well guys.. it seems that without an update to PB to fix the errors, I wont be able to release a demo in time. I'll be able to get everything ready, but until a bugfix is done, then there wont be a demo at xmas.

I'll try and find workarounds for some of the features like weapon scripting and an in game menu, but right now, you cant even save or load a game without errors. The game will be unplayable without a fix.

We'll just have to wait and see if a fix comes out.

It's funny actually, because it was because of bugs that I couldnt release the last demo. Deja vu..

@AbdulAhad,

Thanks I'll try and get something playable, although It'll have to be in alpha stage. It'll be nowhere near a full playable game and will probrably contain a lot of bugs

Well done on the VBOTB Lewis!
I played the demo with my friend, we both really enjoyed it
It was great to see a demo that lasted more than 2 minutes of gameplay, and with a great suspense build up. Congratulations!

Boom.

Update:

Boy, have I been busy! I tell you guys, planning on moving to another country, trying to find work and loads of other things really puts a hindering on game development. If only I were rich, eh?

Anyway, to make people dont believe this is vapourware as theres been no trace of me for a bit, here's some screenshots of some work I've done. I've taken the idea of a more 3d HUD from the Crysis games, and applied them to Alpha Project. I've also revamped some parts of the HUD so they look less rushed and more graphically presentable! Hope you guys like.

Yep! The HUD is looking good . My only complaint is that "Incoming Transmission"-text. Shouldn't it be tilted the other way around?

@Juzi,

If you can see, the text is properly angled to fit the helmet shape.

@Juzi,

Yes The HUD is actually the helmet that the player is wearing, as you can see below:

That's why I'm going for a 3D HUD approach.

Yep, I saw that on IndieDB. Really cool idea, especially when the player gets to find the helmet and wear it himself! I'm not a big fan of HUDs, but when a HUD is explained in a realistic way, I don't mind them

I would give the huds a bit of curve to them because they look like you just skewed them, but yes it is looking amazing! Oh and I see that you are using the scifi corridor construction set fron dexsoft - I have bought it too and one word of warning is that there are quite a bit of poly gons on the models. They were designed to be used with unity and the unreal engine, so if you have a 3d modeler program then I would go ahead and delete any faces you can that are not seen and/or subdivide them, because some of the models are really high poly ive noticed, but I think fpsc can handle it... But the pack is really worth it! One other thing that I would point out is to maybe use less of the caution lines, because it can be easy to go crazy with them and it can be a little distracting to the eye at times, a way to tone them down would to maybe add a little wear to them maybe.

Hope that was helpful!

Edit: oh i realised that the huds were curved... sorry!

That room is a test room. I use more than one wall segment in larger rooms.
