Well it appears DBSPot is down. Progress is still being made. I finished modelling the first level and the HUD is now completely finished. I've also made helath and mana poitions to collect. As soon as I can upload the movie I will.

Wahey! Page 11!
I now have action zones done. I have a way of showing the magic radius and enemies are now affected by magic attacks. I now just have to add more of the same and the level will be done.
I'll then try and make a boss.

oooo!! as soon as you figure out how, please tell me, or email me at compkid328@aol.com. Ive been trying to find how to do this. Also what r u making ur videos with?

Video games…they can take you places unreachable, impossible, unfeasible. They put you in the book...they put you in the movie...they put you in a world, a world that before could only be imagined.

Andrew: Awesome!

Gil: Try using Fraps and VirtualDub...both free. Fraps captures the video but itll be huge (like hundreds of meg) and virtual dub allows you to compress that file.
Then all you do it upload the file to your webspace (I use SmartFTP) and then post a link in your post.

I'm starting on the boss level now. Once it is finished I'll go back and make sure everything is working and optimised. Anyone got any ideas about the uploading problem?

No one able to help?
Well I've made the start of the boss level. There is a giant cyclops dude with a mace that chases you around and when he gets close enough he takes a swing at you and gets his mace stuck in the floor. You have to run behind him and hit him and then run away before he does his stomp attack. Its a classic, not very original, boss that I've seen in games such a croc. Either way, its quite good.

Wish I could help Andrew, wish I could maybe search for something that allows free uploading of videos on google? Or have you already done that?

Yeah. DBSpot won't let me connect and I can't access anything I've already uploaded. I've tried google but I guess I'll try again. If I can't find anything then I'll just upload some screens.

Well unless of course something comes up, I'll have some screens for you tomorrow. I think the 2 levels are pretty much done. Once I manage to upload the executable I'm going to work on the engine again to allow me to have more enemies going at the same time and possibly more fluid battle animations.

WOW! That looks quite impressive. I like the overall look and feel, and from the screens there seems to be a high level of polish to everything. Well done!

The only strange thing is the lights/sparkles that appear to envelop the main character constantly. What are they?

I love it! Is that blood? If so can you post up in the RPG Snippet on how you did it? If it's with particles could you explain how?

Anime Blood - I will.
All - Thanks for the nice comments. That circle of sparks around the character shows his magic attack radius. If I can find a better way of doing it then I will. You may have noticed that the troll also has a ring around him showing his attack radius. Unfortunately, I've been really busy with stuff including GCSEs so I still haven't implemented any combo attacks. This demo will be entered into a compo and then I'll be concentrating on player control again. As it is all in a sub routine I don't have to restart the program; I just have to edit the sub. I read something in game design theory about melee combat which gave me some ideas I would like to add. I've found someone to host the demo so as soon as I can e-mail it to him he can upload it for me.

Wow, Andrew!

I've never really checked this thread because candidly it sounded like some gay MMORPG or something, but from the looks of the screens - wow!!

Very high quality looking, the lighting is incredible and the main character reminds me of Croc, one of my favourite games

Good luck, awaiting a demo along with everyone else.

Dumbo and Cool - August 31st, $9.99
Also this year - Oddworld RTS
Next year... The Old Remedy 2 and Scarecrow!

Thanks. I really want to give you guys a demo but I haven't been able to yet. I'll try making another DBSpot account. I have been working on some cooler and more flowing animations at the moment and they are looking quite good but I have only done a few so far. I have also worked out all controls and combos I want so I'm implementing them as I make them.
Seppuku Geijutsu - It was heavily Rayman based yes. I'm also working on a 3D platformer a lot like Rayman at the moment.

[Edit]Just noticed what was said about the thread still being alive. I have been working really hard on this project and this thread has never left the first page of Work In Progress.[/Edit]

I'm working on my platformer for the time being whilst I wait for new media so you can expect to see some news of that soon.
Don't worry. The project is still going.

love it! Pretty nice, Movement was little slow, I'm guessing that was the recording. Could see some of the Rayman look in it as well....but rayman isn't as bloody.

GCSE's coming to an end? Same here only Chemistry, History 2 and Physics left, weeeew! And Maths today, was damn easy!

Yeah. Did you do higher? I did and it was pretty easy. I've still got Science tomorrow and French reading on Monday.

Back on track...thanks! Yes it is the recording that is slow. Hope to have the demo up soon.

Intermediate, would be higher, but I've had a history with maths teachers (no I'm not a rebel BTW lol) Year 7, well who doesn't behave, plus there was this one kid who always nicked my stuff and stopped me from working. Year 8, our teacher was a homosexual and people used to really offend him about it (evil lil B***tards) so he quit and we had differant subs each lesson, got nufin learnt, Year 9, nothing wrong, Year 10, nothing wrong, this year, my Maths teaching was a chubby(acutally huge) Chav who wasn't very good at teaching (I had to learn Pythagoras' theory from my revision guide for f*** sake lol)

And yeh how exciting for Chemistry tomorrow, predicted a B, the tests I got that prediction for I didn't revise for, so this should be easy.

French, monday, should've picked German lol, had it done ages a go. (Same for Art and IT)

Hee hee hee! Excuses!
My predicted grades were so much higher than what I probably got. I really should have revised! My graphics teacher I really don't get on with at all and he is a hopeless teacher who has a hopeless obsession with kettles! My old IT teacher invited sixth formers back to his house if you get where I'm going! Oh well. I can make up for it with my A levels!

I just stopped in here for the first time in this thread and well, WOW. Nice project I am working on a similar project and must say I'm impressed. This is one of the better DBPro projects I've seen.
The level and complexity of the 3D, and the level of polish this could have easily been a homebrew N64 or PS1 game. You're not far from having a possibly marketable project. BTW I saw the screenies for the level editor on your site. How did you make the GUI? I noticed it looks different than a standard window.

Thankyou. I made the GUI in Paint. I then used my own GUI functions.
At last here is a demo:
http://elbsoftware.dbspot.com/Demo/CombatDemo.rar
It is a bit old but it is something to play around with!

[Edit]
Controls
W,A,S,D - Move
Mouse - Move camera
Left click - Speed attack
Right click - Fierce attack
Control - Spin Attack
Space - Finishing move
As I said, old demo, no magic or combos.

OK here are my opinions. First I don't know why you included the source code! Second I don't really like the controls especially Mouse controlled camera. I keeps moving when I try to attack! Also the enemys take far too long to die. Well thats my two cents!
