Alright let me look at it

Ok ive modeled another 2 models

When i typed in Sub Machinegun on google and went through a couple of pages it came up with a Uzi so i modeled it, if you dont know what one is its a fully automatic weapon, more of a pistol but is still under the SMG catagory.

The other one is a simple book.

Also i cant figure out what the problem is on the elevator, ill just remodel it.

Woah, you're modelling these faster than I can update the front page . We're gonna run out of models to make soon. I'll try and exphasise the need for a texturer on the front page as well. Very nice Uzi, and I do know pretty much what it is (mainly from playing all the Tomb Raiders ).

I need an automatic screenshot machine .

Actually, if you are going to make any more objects, it'd be good if you could also zip up a screenshot of each individual object with the models. It'd make life a lot easier for me . Don't worry about the current models, I'll do them. Cheers.

(Comment on the below)...
Polycount is fine, looking forward to seeing textured model very much.

ok, I checked the polycount of the sniper-rifle after modeling, instead of exporting as a .3ds model first. The actual polycount is 1000 polys. Still ok for a fps gun.. Texturing right now..

ok, I've finished the texture, but I'm not sure whether I like it. If you guys say it's fine, then I'll just keep it, if you dont like it, I may try and retexture the guy..

I think it looks rather cool . It isn't really a standard texture by the looks of it, but that's no bad thing. The main I'd say needs some work is the wood grain. A bit more detail and sharpness would make it look a bit better. Also I think the scope glass could probably be a lighter shade of blue. If you emailed or uploaded the actual model I could probably give some better criticism, but it's a great texture as it is . Is it all separated into limbs for animation?

I think that looks better . Upload/email it, and we can stick it in game (sort of ). Btw, if anyone can tell me the difference in power/accuracy etc. of the different guns (eg. the two snipers), then I can make a clear difference in game.

Over all looks good.

But one note i would like to add, a the part right behind the bolt (below the scope) the model curves down, i belive it would look better if it had more of a curve, it looks pretty flat right now

Other than that, good job

EDIT: Hamish i dont know the real specs but i belive you could level it out by making one have more power with a 6x scope and the other one with less power and a 8x scope.. and do the same with how it shoots... just some thoughts.

There you go, Hamish.. You can resize the textures to any squaresize you want.

I'll keep the old texture too shall I? I took a look at it, and it's a great texture, but seemed to be let down by its blurryness. I sharpened and fiddled with the contrast of the texture and this is the difference in DBPro...

Nice new texture . Any quite an odd size for a texture :S, but I just scaled it down to 512x512 without much detail loss.

Edit, attached are the two texture maps... you can see the difference in quality better when it's laid out in 2D...

I'd hardly call them changes , it was done by pressing two buttons . I'm particularly impressed with your metal texturing. I've been trying for ages to be able to draw a metallic effect like that, but I can never seem to get it right.

just brush with dodge and burn alot, and add some scratches. And the trick is to upper the contrast after brushing. Try it

I wanted to texture some of the models that needed textures, but the guy only has .x models. I dont have anything to import or convert .x models. I need something to convert them, or a .3ds export of it

Mitch - Thanks for the tips, maybe Prof can export as 3DS seeing as he's using MAX (I think). I could do it in lithunwrap, but I wouldn't trust the integrity of it's export functions .

NeX - Maybe it was mean't to be a HUD, but all I see is a blur of colours.

Hawk - Heh, nice sig alterations . Maybe I'll do some when I get bored of the sensible option.

sorry guys i've been in france for the past 2 weeks on holiday, i started on the hand animations, the pistol should be ok to use the same animation from them all but rifles the cartidges rarely go in the same place for each gun. the lowe/medium poly hands can't be animated so you're stuck with high poly hands.
some nice models have been submitted while i've been away

oh i could temporarily host the site if you have a backup somewhere, just email me and i'll give you my email address with my isp (no attachment limit (at least that i know of).

DC - Sounds good. If you re-do them, could you exclude the hands , so we can have a set of hands that are used for each of the weapons. C4 sounds good also, I guess I will add support for hand thrown/placed weapons.

mm0zct - Umm, before you get too far, we need the hands rigged so that they can be combined with each gun and animated separately. Due to the different shapes and sized (and mechanics) of each gun, it would be virtually impossible to create a generic animation and stick a different gun mesh in each time. Besides, there are few of the same types of guns. Knives, grenades, pistols, submachine guns, rifles, rocket launchers are all held and reloaded in completely different ways. If you can rig up the hands for animation of any kind that'd be of great help, then by all means you can start on some animations . Just post/email and I'll get the models right to you.

And I can't find a backup of the site, I don't think I took one. Megaton may have, although I beleive he had another version of the site in development, so it may be better to wait until that is done to put up the website again.

ok hammish i though that woulbe how it would have to, if i can get my weapons animated then i'll ask for another from you, it'd be easiest probablt to merge the hand with the gun for the first person in a single animated model, so i'd have to animate the gun too.

anyway.. i'll get my gone done first.

Ok i took a shot at texturing the soda machine.. I have some questions:

1. Should i stick with that back ground image?

2. I need to come up with some name brands for the selections, (Short things alike "Pepsi, Coke ect...)

Ill take anything thats small enough to fit on the bottons. Also i can take down the number of bottons if need be.

C&c Welcome.

Hey Grismald, please dont take the following the wrong way! I REALLY like the Casbah level you made, it looks great, and I bet it's alot of fun to play in. I couldn't help but notice though, that the palmtree's didn't look so good, imo. I had this palmtree that I did already, and I altered the texture a bit. Could you try and put this in your level, caus I think it would look great there You can try, and always delete them, but it might be a nice addition to the map..
