Seeing as I'm a Portuguese supporter, I half expect Portugal to do poorly as usual (at least when they get close to the final or anytime or anywhere we play France).

I have vague plans for World Domination

Not big on Futbol/Soccer, like to play, hate to watch.

Hockey=good
Basketball=better
American Football = Awesome
Baseball = The pinnacle

oh and then there is Ice Dancing
NASCAR= can't stand to watch a bunch of people drive around an oval for 4 hours give me Soccer any day.

Weird though that things change around everywhere else.

Hockey=Girls game
Basketball=Girls game really (netball)
American Football=Same as rugby but they wear Kevlar (like girls do )
Baseball=Basically rounders from when you were a kid.

Heh, just taking the mick there But honestly no-one watches the above sports here.

For us though, in my opinion, it is something like:-
World cup football
Premier league Football
European (country eg. Euro 96) cup football
European cup (clubs) football
League cups (FA and whatever Coca Cola cup is called these days)
Tennis (around Wimbledon)
Championship Football
Formula One (especially when a British person is doing well)
Lower league football (depending on how rubbish your team is of course)
European football
Non-European football
Rugby/Cricket (depending how well we are doing)
Snooker
Darts
Golf

Think that covers it. You can see some top heavyness there I'm sure. And I'm positive some football has been missed out somewhere

And before I forget C'MON ENGLAND!!!!

Cheers

It is strange in this media driven age that things like this are so different. I live in what is probably the area of the US where the most people would watch Futbol (a lot of people from Portugal and Brazil) and it is still almost never on television except on channel 540 or so (international channels) even during the world cup when the US team is playing it is almost never on. Baseball football, college football, basketball however each have 12 dedicated channels on my cable as well as the nationally and locally televised games. More sports channels than we can shake a stick at and I will see Magic the Gathering pro tour events on them more often than Futbol (lord knows why). Womens Futbol gets more attention here actually, now that I think of it women's sports are on the rise drastically in the US (televised wise that is).

This might come down to the quality of what we see here I guess, just know it moves to slow for me to watch (in the pro games I have seen anyway) it seems like heaven help you if someone scores early because the rest of the match becomes a big game of "keep away" rather than a constant blitz to score more points. We love 2 things here fast pace and neck twisting injuries

I know this is amazingly unlikely, but I was totally engrossed in what I was doing and forgot England were playing like right now. Then Three Lions popped up on my shuffling iPod. Out of 2500 songs. Thank you Apple! Honest to god too.

Oh, and C'MON ENGLAND!!!!!

England 2,0 they played horribly and managed to get 2 goals in the last 10 minutes.

Lets see who win now, Sweeden or Paraguay, it looks like Sweeden may win in my view

Things looked good with Lennon and Rooney on. Lets see how next game goes with Rooney and Owen up front. Lets keep Joe Cole for now. But Lennon was awesome.

Yeah USA are pretty good. Those two sending offs were fully deserved, especially the first one. Be interesting to see how the second half will pan out.

I have to say well done USA there. Very good going forward. Donovan down the right ran his legs off.

I'm gutted you didn't win. What an open group its turning out to be.

Yeah, I think that all the red cards given were kinda ridiculous. They really weren't that bad. It kinda seemed like Italy was milking it.

USA played very well, Italy were a bit aggresive and faked fouls, cheaters. But congrats to USA for playing a rock on game against the Italians, nice use of tactics, shame about the misses and saves, but it was a good game from the USA perspective

yeah the us were doing well before they got their second player sent off. Might have even took the lead...

Maybe the ref was being strict, but I think all those sending offs were totally deserved - the elbow to the eye and the two footed slide tackle from behind were completely uncalled for. If you see the ref is playing a very strict game, you don't want to risk getting sent off like those players did.

I was surprised that ghana beat Czech Republic. Disappointed too. I've always had a soft spot for the Czechs.

Does anyone else hate Christiano Ronaldo with a passion? Or is that just me?

I don't have hopes for tonight's game. brazil are a force to be reckoned with, however if we do beat them, it will be another sport aussies kick ass at. not really but after 35 years of nothing in soccer it would be cool.

the first goal that the japanese scored was blatant foul city, the ref even said sorry afterwards.

I'm stoked about tonights game of Aus v Bra. After brazils lacklustre display against....whoever they beat....croatia thats it, it makes me think that were in with a chance. Whatever people say about him, when Harry is playing his game down the left flank, he is so good to watch. Tears teams apart. Thats something we failed to do against japan, hit the flanks and send in crosses. Its so hard to defend from crosses cause of the angles they create for the defence and keeper. If the socceroos can do that, with the likes of emerton and Chipperfield, we might actually be in with a chance.

My tip? Aussie to win 3-2...Viduka scores a screamer on the turn past Juan.

Have fun.

GO AUSSIES!!!

LOL... too true. Uncanny as it is, I never met a Ronaldo in real life: I think when they are born, they bang them up in footy school, never to see the light of day.

Or alternatively, one in every four football players must be renamed 'Ronaldo' by law.

Wow. I really expected Korea to beat France.
That goal probably should of been counted that France should of had.

Brazil played an awesome game against Australia. Just beautiful.

I thought Australia played well against Brazil. Going on Brazils last two games I can't see them winning it this year unless they up their performance. Looks like Argentina might be the team to watch or maybe spain.

Just watched switzerland beat togo. im really dissapointed to see s. korea and france cant both make it out of the group stages, they were the 2 i wanted to see through
france because i've supported them my whole life, and korea because i thought it'd be nice to see an asian/oriental team win for a change.

knowing both cant make it through, im supporting france, we need at least a 2 goal lead to go through, which you would think against togo should be easy, but watching france's last 2 games performance, I'm not sure they'll make it through.

I'm sorry to say I personally hope they don't go through because every time France plays Portugal they beat us in some unfanthomable way in the last minute!

Not necessarily, if both S. Korea and France win, they'll both go through. South Korea will have 7 points, France will have 5 and Switzerland will have 4.

2-2 FT

England out of steam once again in the second half...terrible defending on set pieces...they really have to work on that.
Owen looked injured pretty bad...must really gutted - after just one minute too...wonder how sven's going to be reshaping the formation.

ps. Germany 3 - Ecuador 0 GO GERMANY!!
