HUGE improvement on the hands!
Maybe add a little seam detail on the glove across the top part where the thumb section joins the rest of the glove.

Nice alpha work on the optic, btw.

thanks guys!

never thought about the stitching for the thumb section, would certainly look a bit better, thanks

when i started making the glove, i used basically a sloid grey colour, which gave me the idea of a bandage like glove, kinda like in martial arts, or something like that, it seems like a nice idea, i'll have a whack at it

ive decided there are going to be more than 3 variations, because there will be variations of the variations (lol) such as injured, for some time in the game where you are fighting for your life rather than more casual levels, and perhaps "contaminated" like one bit in FarCry where your skin goes slightly green and bruised with veins showing up

edit:

just a little comparison picture, you can see a huge difference close up

nay, they arent high poly, merely the texture doing its job

thanks guys

and ive finished animating it! already, actually pretty simple, when making the changes, i only ripped apart some of the heirarchy, linked it back up, a little rotation here and there and we're good to go, heres a screenshot, of the new cocking back:

despite me sizing down the screens to fit four, this was taken on my laptop with no anisotropic texture filtering, when i get on my desktop, i'll get a quality shot

@ Airslide

thanks, though its not really a new deagle, just a retexture, and some polys added here and there for the cocking back motion, but thanks!

@ Me

right, i still have some time, to the M249! (which by the way, has a very slightly new texture job, though still shamefully on a 512.

this should be fun hopefully should have it done by the end of the night meaning only 2 things left, the other couple hand variations and ofcourse some sound editing for all the reloads

it takes a lot of time and money to model to that of john. I personally dont have the time or skills to do so, so i think that I will buy your weapon pack. are you able to make custom guns on request for a fee?

cheers guys!

wouldnt call it "revamped, the only texture difference was an attempt to make the main body of the gun less "pixelly" in game, but it looks cool none the less

ive fixed the aniamtions, i'll get a vid when i get on my other comp:

not too shabby, might need a bit of work (i also need to sync the reload sounds again, grrr)

Quote: "are you able to make custom guns on request for a fee?"

yes, but not right now, too busy with the pack and college work

edit:

looking at that screen again, i think i need to bring the arm in a bit, at one part of the animation it gets a bit close to the camera, looking 'stretched'

finished another hand variation!!

i was thinking martial arts style, where they have bandages/cloth wrapped around their fists (or some types of boxing) and it can also double as a mummy! lol

ive got a great idea for the next one... think covert ops, black splinter cell style

yes it does, and when you move, jiggles around naturally

in the video, one of the weapons are bare fists, so yes, those hands are a weapon

MUCH better hands! They wouldn't happen to be yours, would they?

One little crit: It looks like maybe you dodged a section of the arm with it set to "midtones", and it turned the skin kinda yellowish instead of just lightening it.

Then again it could just be my cheap monitor, I can't ever trust the colors on it...

Everything looks great!

no i havnt played the game, ive seen the screens on the back of the case, i know what you mean by the hands, its like a woolen jacket type thing, thats what i meant by covert ops

by splinter cell, i meant that "rubber like" armour, also seen in metal gear solid

@ Bond1

thanks! nope they arent mine, the arm/wrist itself i painted, fingers were from a bit of photo editing

yes, looks a tad yellow, though i still think it looks natural enough, might change the hue a bit in that area

heres another hand variation, a kind of leather style, for stealth type games (e.g. would be good to use for a night level)

now onto the "black" style

thanks, heres a shot ingame...

that one more, then s little "bloody" variations for the variations, then thats the hands complete. (also a black skinned of the original)

then just some sounds and i should be done, question is, how am i gonna get/make such nice reload sounds, the plus side is that most of them are small 'clicks and clangs' which i can edit from something like a coke can hitting something, just got to use my imagination

saying that, dont think they'll sound crap, its part of a strange process, mixing the types of sounds you need, to get a good one.

You know; I've always wondered why I see some artists taking the triggers off all their fire-arms? Is it to save a few more tris?

Looking good by the way; I have no plans that would require the pack, but I may have to grab it anyways. It would make a nice prize for next month's level design comp, if you're up for it.

-Keith

i don't know why either, it may be to save tri's but i think i also done it, so you don't need to animate it, as stupid as that sounds, just that little flick backwards, but i suppose its just a waste of memory, despite it being the thing which actually gives you control of the gun, lol

yeah im up for giving it as a prize when the time comes

after editing some FPSC sounds, it appears i can get some neat sound effects just from weapons like the "commando" with different alterations for different guns.

but then i cant really sell the pack then, to people intending to use in a DB Pro game, or can i?

people have released texture alterations, thus, sound variations should stay fine right? as long as its distributed to the right people? in any case, just provide information that the models within this pack can be used for any multi-purpose, yet not the sounds...

ah, too confusing, i might just buy some royalty free sounds off the Internet, using them.

but i haven't tried much recording yet, I'll continue to see what i can get...

EDIT:

wait, yes, i can distribute them, because the pack installs into the FPSC directory, so it becomes FPSC material, its only really the person who goes in to grab the models and go elsewhere, that shouldnt be taking the sounds in the first place...right?

as long as FPSC material is contained within FPSC, then its the users responsibility (ofcourse, i will mention NOT to use those sounds elsewhere)

can a mod fill me in on this?

Jon, since you helped me out, I could do the same for you, in the region of reload sounds..

I've done some of my own already ,just messing with effects in Reason over, like you said, coke cans and carkeys (wicked for the noise of bullets entering a gun from a feed). Anyway, if you want me to do some then gimme a shout, I'm too annoyed with FPSC to do any maps tonight anyway.

hehe, thanks

'nother hand, went for a cotton jacket feel, dunno if it came out right, i would have had to actually edit the model of the hand to get it looking more accurate, still looks nice, sorry for posting loads of small screens by the way, still looks nice though

ok, im off now, i'll be cracking on with the sounds tommorow (the bloody variations for these hands shouldnt take long)

also, good news, i got a reply back from Rich, and they said they will feature it in the newletter, though it might be a bit late for october issue, and they said i may need to wait for the november issue, great news none the less

This pack is awesome. I'll buy it as soon as it's released.

One question: this pack can be used not only with FPSC, right? Will you include a license.txt in the file to download?

Theres a problem ive just noticed with the Sniper Rifle. Its is a bolt action rifle, and when the bolt is pulled back, a new round is not put in, like the animation shows, it is to release the old shell, and then the new round moves up into the chamber from the clip. Even WWII's Springfield Sniper Rifle used a bolt action/clip.
I think you might want to rethink that, if you want it to be realistic
