Greetings all. Just thought I would make a thread for my long term , hopefully commercial project. It's called GraveDanger. It's a (not post or pre but)during Apocalyptic action FPS chocked full of angels, demons, zombies and other creatures that go bump in the night. I'm going all out on this one and useing just about any and all strengths FPSC has and leaving out all the weaknesses in order to widen my audience. This will hopefully also be made into an X10 version at a later time. I'm straying from the norm in this one and kind of making all the characters styleized. Some things will be propper proportions and some just slightly off to give it character. Keep that in mind when giving CnC. I've used a semi new technique in creating the level so far. Walls and cielings were created in a milkshape as one model and imported as a single segment. Floors were done individually though to avoid collision bugs. The voice acting for the main character is horrid, I know, and will be changed in the accual game.Graves partner by radio is done rather nicely in my opinion. The demo is done; I'm just waiting for my encryption software to arrive and I will release it for play. So far it runs at 17-25 fps on a comp with 512mb ram but also ran 30-32 fps on some comps with 512 ram; so those with better can be assured that it will run smoothly. Here is a screenshot for now.

I will post the download link in this post when it's uploaded.

BTW-Emboca is still on.Now that this demo is done I can focus on it and complete it in a relatively short time.

Looks brilliant D13, you may want to redo the hand texture, the nails look a little blurry and the skin looks a bit of a dodge and burn job. But thats all I can really say to improve on.

Nice work

@phil17- Thanks! Hopefully I won't disappoint

@vorconan- Thanks and definitely, That is one of the things top on my list to do before I even do any more weapons. He's suposed to be half dead, but he loks almost all dead with those hands.

Wow , all i can say is that this game is looking very good.
I just love the guns , a cool idea with the skulls.
And if this game will go intro X10 world you going to score with it.
I also can't wait to play the demo and see your other cool guns and monsters.

Best , Oleg.

@OLEG- Thanks!Coming from you I take that as a great compliment. There is only one type of monster in this level but I have different variaties of them. Mainly just a change of heads.

I was originally going to wrap it in razorwire or barbed wire but decided to save that effect for something else.

Looks superb! A suggestion for the strengths thing - replace the foot step sounds Maybe the physics sounds (bumping, sliding) too, but those aren't quite as bad.

Yea. I plan on working on one that will probably use alot of model packs and stock media, but I still plan on changing the sounds. More subtle sounds at a lower volume should sound nice

Already seen the screen before, But i'm ganna post in this thread for support anyway Love the variations D. Will the claktys with the spikes on there head jab you with them? That would look awsome, and very non-fpsc.

Good luck on this dude.

but more importantly here is the link.
Play and toss me some Constructive Criticisim.Keep mind of what's already on the to do list. I don't need 5 people telling me "enemies have a collision problem with the stairs". Anything that can help improve it will definitely be appreciated.

Just played the demo and i have to say it was excellent
The deformation in the walls, the custom enemies and guns really set this apart from other fpsc games out there.
There was a few probelms i ran into, (spoiler) the area when the floor slides along...didnt open fully the first time so I had to restart. Some of the enemies wouldnt move (im guessing this is due to the engine). I had to download .net framework 2 to open the demo.

These are some minor probelms, but i thought the game was really great and fun to play im looking forward to seeing this full release and i would most certainly buy 8/10

Played the demo. (thanks to s4)
And i must say the new segments gave it a new life!

Also the new gun and enemies it was really awesome.

I had 1 glitch actually 1 enemy dissapeared but still could
hit me but i couldnt shoot him.

Still this game is looking superb.

Doesnt look anything like FPSC with the new segments!

Downloading now! I feel like a giddy school girl, waiting for the prom. LOL. I'll be back (he said in his best Arnold voice to make up for the school girl remark) after I've played.

Best.

EDIT: A delightfully strange atmosphere and an environment unlike any we've seen in FPSC so far. The custom segments and entities, like the door switches and skulls, are visual treat and fit well in the scheme of the game, as did the music. Apart from some collision issues with the characters, it was perfect.

Congrats and can't wait to see more.

Best.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

Tested and great game and liked it a lot had a few issues like the glitch where 1 enemy got stuck under the stairs but still could
hit me but i couldn't shoot him.

But apart from that this was a great game well done.

Hey D13; didn't you win one of our Level Design Comps with a level that had some original work like this? I remember that level having some great original modeling and texturing as well. If you can find the link you should post it here (I believe it's still on the OG database).

Your work always reminded me of PainKiller.

@Vista users-My apologies for your not being able to play it yet, but it looks like S4real is on top of things.

@phil17-I'm thrilled you liked! the sliding floor is accually not supposed to slide, but I guess I can't fix that. Its accually so heavy the player cant lift it and can walk on it. It's one of those obsticles that needs "convincing" to move. I did find it rather funny though that a rotted Xombie can just kick it and it moves, lol, wich is probbably the what happened. I can definitely live with an 8/10

@Cheese Cake-Thanks for the compliments. I've never had the disappearing problem before. Could you tell me where you were when this happened? It may have snuck behind a wall due to a collision problem. Also has this happened more than once? I definitely need to iron things like this out.

@xplosys-Awsome! Glad you liked! I'm pouring my heartinto this thing with all the originality I possibly can, and am very happy it's turning out well at least visually for you guys.

@s4real- Glad you liked, and definitely thanks for the assist in both getting Vishnu to me as well as adressing problems that vista users had. As for the steps, I'm going to have to relace them with a different type.

@KeithC- Indeed I did, The funny thing is I lost the file when I had to restore my harddrive a while back. Knowing now that its still on the OG data base is awsome. It was accually the precursor to this game.A chapter-0 if you will. It too was titled GraveDanger, and was meant to be a representation of Grave's early years working for the Angel driven Organization-Celestine-. Those weapons will accually make a reappearance in this game. I know I haven't written much story down yet here on the forums, but the Gear SMG was Graves personal weapon before his 'decent into darkness'. The partner you hear on the radio's weapon of choice was and still is the sniper rifle found in that episode (for those who found it). I may do some changes to it but esentially they will be the same weapons. If I could get a link to that game it would rock as I dont have a copy for myself. Thanks KeithC!

I downloaded and played, very nice, I didn't get too far though because the enemies stopped responding. It is probably my laptop - most of the time the game ran at about 30 fps while standing, dropped a bit while walking, but would commonly have moments of between 10 and 30 or so seconds where everything would range from (less than) 0 to 6 fps. That's my laptop though. Even Game Maker games lag the EXACT SAME AMOUNT, so it must just be the way everything is setup or it is a really, really, really bad card. I go home in a couple of days so I can use my desktop which a sweet 7600, and I'll try it on that again

The disappearing happened at the floor which you had to shoot open.

Some xombies where there which i had to kill and suddenly
something was killing me when i noticed a shadow on the floor.

But saw nothing i thought maybe shoot it and it will die but,
that didn't helped, right after that some other zombies came and
the invisible one killed me.

Finely i have tested your game D13 and it's doesn't look like it was made with FPSc.
I haven't got any collision problems with the zombies.
But man that game run like a speed car , it loaded in 30-40 sec.
The Fps was always stabile for me , about 28-30.
I most say you have done a great job !

@Pus In Boots- Thanks, Please do and feel free to let me know what you think.

@Airslide- Glad ya liked! the enemy standing still problem is an FPSC one. I'll have to see about fixing the AI maybe to remedy it. It happens to me about 7 to 10% of the time. I find if i kill one and walk over the spawn point again it "fully" dies, but the remainder of enemies do the same. Definitely adding to the list.

@OLEG- Thanks! The new method im useing is responsible for game speed but I think the 1.06RC4 is reponsible for load time. Much better than past versions of FPSC. Speed is a crucial factor for me so hearing your fps stayed at 28-30 really makes me feel good about the project.

Yea, if anything turned out right on this laptop it was the quick load time

EDIT: Vishnu unpacked very, very fast aswell. A lot faster than phoenix (no offense Dave, and no, I'm not taking sides).

Wow! i've just played it, other than the occasional glitch, which isn't your fault it's just FPSC, i would have to say it's fantastic!

EDIT

sometimes it can help to not have so many enemies in the room at once, like if you have 4 or 5, try cutting it down to 2 or 3 if you can.
