Right, I think this needs a bump.

I've been working on the script for the demo, but to keep things alive I'll start working on some of the levels too and provide screenshots here. Stay tuned for some level screenshots soon.

Update: Here are screenshots of the reception area! It's still a work in progress, much more to be done.

Reception design based off Heretic's level designer, Aisen.

Great textures Lewis! Do the PB shaders make them look better? (My laptop is an ancient windows vista which cannot run any one of PB's FS shaders without dropping to 0 FPS, so I'm not sure what I'm missing out on.)

Cool segments

The bathroom doesn't really match the style of the rest of the level, to me anyways.

I agree with KeithC, at least make the doors metal.

But everything else looks fantastic! Those textures are insane!

I like what you've done, but I would suggest you add more detail to the flat walls, they need something to pop on them so that those textures (meant to not look flat) wont look flat.

Awesome screens! I agreee about the bathroom, but everything else is great! Maby scifi up the bathroom. But as Bugsy said, maby some wall furniture (entities, like signs and and stuff like that, Cosmic's Scifi Pack has lots of that stuff), but it looks superb!

You going to sell this? Sorry if I missed it, but it's very good!

Lewis, how did you do the motion blur for the game? Did you use special shaders or is it the PB shader default?

Thanks

maybe i can answer that one, there is a special script, if you buy PB, it has motionblur etc. fullscreenshader

@Metal Devil123,

I'm working on the starting level as of yet, getting a weapons training scene in place and where the game starts off.

@Arenas,

Project Blue with a modified Shader so the bloom isnt so strong.

@Bloody James,

I'll tell you when I've released my game. I dont want to see a bunch of Alpha Project clones

I meant the motion blur thingy When you turn the camera I think i'll have a go at modifying a few shaders if its possible I'll probably fail cause i dont know where to start (backup needed) but its all good practice

I watched the walk-throughs on YT and I must say, the voice acting and various other components were spectacular. I'll download the demo at some time and try it. And the HUD was outstanding too, and I noticed a few F.E.A.R. inspirations too .

@lewis

just add wall entities for a less "flat" look.

(electriacl boxes, pipes, wires, AC vents, bikini calendars)

general wall-mount stuff, you know.

After watching some of the vids on your site, i must say TOP NOTCH. Im as excited for the release as a little schoolgirl is about her first crush.

Also, albeit unrelated, the main characters voice reminds me of Simon Pegg in Hot Fuzz (see pic)

Wow... This looks FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you sir, have a guarentee'd customer right here

some questions if you dont mind

1. How many lights per level would you say you use? And how long does it take per test built to test it all out?

2. Any idea how to get that thing you did with the hud? i have to say im really impressed at what has been acomplished so far. Great stuff.

Overall, i think from the videos of what has been done so far, i have to say your doing a awesome job also in keeping with a story, the mood you have portrayed is excellent. I subscribed to you on your youtube so i dont miss any test films of yours.

keep it up, this shaping to be a really nice FPSC game.

@Arenas,

Always make sure to backup any shaders you edit.

@SikaSina Games,

I really enjoyed fear so I definatley wanted to put some things from fear in there.

@Quik,

Hope you enjoy!

@Bugsy,

I'm experimenting with custom segments as I write this.

@xgcell,

Haha thanks for the comparison! Simon Pegg is my hero so being told that I sound like him is a big compliment to me.

@defiler,

Thanks for the compliments! The levels take about 20 minutes to build each time, I usually go make a coffee or do something else while it builds. Patience is the key

And as for the HUD, all it is is scripting animations. Take advantage of Project Blue's scripting commands.

Yeah, it was a great game, although I got it for Xbox 360 with the new extension pack (I think it was Perseus Mandate) and it killed my first Xbox 360 but it din't stop me from plying it xD. I also have a little review since I played it yesterday (And I couldn't go to school today since I'm ill lol):

Level Design:
It was alright, a few put-downs in some places though. The lighting seemed in place., but I think you could do with a different light entity "/. There were varying layers (height levels) and a few extra views. Rating: 7.5/10

Sound:
The voice acting was good, some voice parts were not great, but it didn't wreck the overall impression. Some parts I had to listen to twice to understand, and some were easy to understand. The stinger part scared the crap out of me even when I knew it was coming (I was in my dark bedroom with the volume on highest lmao). Rating: 9/10

Media:
There were a few pieces of stock media which didn't exactly fit in with the game. The custom media though, especially the G36C (ftw ), was fantastic. Rating: 8/10

Scripting:
By the looks of it in-game, there were a lot of scripts going on, and I saw how Project Blue helped carried it over. Some events seemed very cleverly scripted and the voice events were good too. Rating: 9/10

Interface elements (HUD, Player sounds etc.):
The HUD was spot-on brilliant, and the action HUDs looked very F.E.A.R.-ish (as I said before). The sound were stock-FPSC so it wasn't so exciting. Rating: 8/10

Bugs:
I know this was common, but I kept falling through the scenery with motion blur ON. A few other glitches were where when you set the script to hide the weapon, I could switch back to it, and if I aimed and zoomed back out, the gun freeze until I could move again. On the windows and projection decals (like the metal hit decal or shadows), a strange blob seemed to grow on the item . Rating (Based on how many bugs there are, lower is worse): 4/10

Overall Score: 7.5/10 - An enjoyable game sure to get better.

I've got a few questions to ask if it's ok:
-With the stinger event, is the command you used, to have the player in the view, in stock FPSC/X10?
-What program did you use to make the gun mods? I use Fragmotion with Blender, I don't know if it works though (It doesn't export the skeleton).

Great work there, Lewis .

anyway how many lights per level would you use and what is your ambience set to cause dosent ambience affect how long it takes to render lightmaps?

Sweet . I'm learning how to texture, but I'll drop you an E-mail in awhile regarding a few things (not personal or sensitive lol). Are the two at the right something like a speaker and a mouse/trackball device?

On the texturing, I have a friend who is practising his texturing skills and could probably texture them for you for free.

@SikaSina Games,

A mousemat and mouse.

@Arenas,

Replied already.

Update: Office entities are now textured and FPSC ready! Here they are in game. I know the room is dark, it's to test the illumination map for the monitors screen! Also I added a faint blue light for effects.
