Some modifications have been done in the main game.

Disabled the escape key (now no chance to exit from the game pressing the escape key).

Added 3 options in the main menu.
- Exit from the game
- Exit from the menu
- Return to the main menu

Also added a new section on the site. You can now download some musics that havn't been added to the game.

Thanx for the mails & feedbacks!

theres a problem, you cannot save, or if you can, you cannot reload your progress because of some error.

You're right for this kind of bug.
In fact, until the 3d level you cannot save... but I noticed when you are in the first menu, clicking on "Load" the game freezes.
I just corrected this bug right now, with some other minors bugs.
So, in the next 1-2 hours the new version will be on line.

I've to thank to many people that downloaded the game (until today, 968 ) & get many useful feed back.

Still packing the additional level... this took me more than I thought...

Also, the site will be soon updated...

Thanx

Some of you, asked me to slightly modify the first level... so, now, here's the changes...
I finally changed the level 1 adding a message when the code is changed after the 4 mistakes. In this way, the player knows now that the key is being changing...
So, now, you can update your game loading the updated file or downloading again the whole game (up to you)...
Downloading the level 9, the main game is also updated by the install file.

Here the screen of the french version... naturally the message is in the main player language.

As I'm preparing a new demo of the game (88mb) for ManifestoGames, I made some changes.

In the first level, before using the 4 rotating stones, you have to find them first.
In the 2d level the alphabet tiles have been changed & now they are more efficient.
The main menu can be used with the mouse, the graphical interface for the text has also been changed.

The new demo should be ready for the download tonight...

Hi...
Zlatan : Yep! I'm Italian (di Caserta) but I live in Switzerland.

Thanx RickV for the link, I've done it.

So, right now I'm uploading on the server the newest Demo of Kalimée which has many important changes.

- Demo Download contains only the first 3 levels. (80mb)

and as I've said before:
- Access to the main menu from the level 1
- Full access from the level 3
- Tiles for the mini game in the 2d level have been changed
- In the first level you have to find first the 4 blocks before playing with them
- Menu can be used with the mouse
- Improved main game fluidity

Thanx to everyone for the comments, suggestions & feed-back.

Hey, your game looks really nice and i have to compliment you for working on the game since over 3 years (correct me if its even more time).
I have a little question: Did you hardcode all these puzzles or did you do a mix of soft- and hardcode?

Hi Ape...
Sorry for the silly question, but what do you mean by Hardcoded & softcoded the puzzles??

As for now, still working on environnment...
Added a nice water effect, created a realistic skyscape, adding some vegetal & created a day/night cycle...
Also I'm discovering the terrain editor & trying to get something nice to work with...

Here below 3 pics... from night to day...

I will beginn shortly adding the puzzles...
On the island there will be puzzles to solve, some mini games to unlock & some parchements where the story of the land will go on...

I think I will do a demo of this level as a standalone...

I just wondered if you coded all the puzzles directly in dbp code(hardcode) or if you are excluding parts of it in script files (softcode).

Nice screens, if you go on like this, you game will look like myst V in a few month

Yeah, maybe you should add some grass and stones to make it look more alive.

May i ask another question?
How do you structure the puzzles?
I mean to you store them each in a seperate function or in different named labels?
If i think of programming all puzzles in dbp i'm thinking of a big mess - how do you avoid that?
Thanks

I just managed to create each level in separate functions & the puzzles are also in separate functions in order to have the possibility to use them when I need them.
Also, I can run each levele separately because now, if I have to compile & run the game it takes about 3-4 minutes... quite long for a single test or when I need to correct the bugs i found...

the level modeling is quite in the earliest version, I'm adding now around 50 trees, grass... & adding the puzzles (it will contain different puzzles & 2 mini games)...

I was véry, véry impressed by everything I've seen here just now. I've never seen nor noticed this thread before, honestly - maybe once as the name Kalimee did ring a bell when I saw it.

It seems a lot of time and dedication went into this. I was especially charmed by the glowing rings in the menu screen (the one with the stats).

I might download it when I get some time .

I'm downloading now and will play the demo when I get a chance (which may not be for a very very long time... sigh...) but it looks fabulous! You seem to have blended visual, artistic appeal with stimulating puzzles, which is impressive.

One question - that Island idea looked gorgeous, is it still being worked on? Is it done? After all, a lot could have happened since April.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Hi everyone...
It's more than 9 months i haven't worked on the Kalimée project ... & it was against my will...

Got several health, professional & economical problems, so then I just left behind me all the things I was doing.

Those days, things are going really better & I guess it's time for me to push a bit the project.

In the last level, the 2d island, I've added new trees, new effects, set the collision routine with the water & gave to the sky a Day & night cycle. (Not perfect for the moment, the idea is to have clouds during the day 6 stars during the night.

The most important problem come from the puzzle itself. In fact I'm having some troubles with the coding process & cannot achieve what I'm looking for...

Anyway... works begun & then, some news will come soon....

P.S.: As I got a new job that takes me all the day long, I can work on kalimée only the week-end.... so, now, it will be a bit slower
