I'd like to see a 'progress report' added to the section in the drop down list along with IRC chat, changelog, codebase etc. This would be much like the changelog, except it would be an UP TO DATE report about how the bug fixing/patching work of DBPro is going. I dont like to be kept in the dark for months about how many bugs have been eradicated and what new features are working... and I havent seen a [Scheduled] or a [Fixed] notice in the bugs forum for ages....

I'd like a built in drink holder... mabey some pizza.. a built in TV as you veiw and post would be nice... hmm. why dont u jus make a giant 3D RPG world where u run around looking at posts, and posting, and it'd be all in 3d and u'd get stuff too, and it'd be a little game built in and you'd make millions and rule to world! *cues evil music*

Exactly, that's why i suggest the "hide" option which would only hide the unnecesary post, but would still be available if the user wants to read them, just by clicking a button saying "un-hide" or something...

Bug fixes are the last thing that the team work on before an update is released. ie. They work on the new features first, then the bug fixes. They haven't yet started working on fixes for U6. Mike is working on lightmapping, CSG & Portals/Nodetrees. Lee is working on FPS Creator.

Hence an "UP-TO-DATE" list really wouldn't be that useful.

Hello.

I use this forum a lot and it is a great help. The 'My Threads' option is a great way to quickly view your own threads to see if anyone had answered.

However, what I think would also be a great feature, would be 'My Posts' so that you can just as easily view other peoples threads that you have responded to.

I often offer someone help and then forget which thread it was in. The person that I helped may have asked me further questions relating to my answer but I will never know because I forget to look there again.

So, yeah .... 'My Posts'

Surely it would not be difficult to limit to your most recent posts. Even if that number is as low as 10 I think it would still be a great help.

On other forums the topics you have posted in have a black dot in the icon next to the post title which is usefull and a lot better way to do it than a seperate list of threads you have replied to.

Here's a suggestion worth looking into...

Make it that if you're browsing a thread, and you want to reply, the button you used to finalize your post says "Post Reply" and not "Post Message". And, if you're just viewing the forums and want to post a new topic, make the button say "Post New Topic". This way you don't forget when you're in a thread and try to post a new topic and vice versa.

Sticky threads that dont get old (unpostable) That would be nice, announcements as well incase a mod might have to edit them. Oh, and the ability to edit announcements. Whenever I have to edit that Newcomers announcement I have to un-announcement it, go find it, edit it, then re-announcement it.

The ability for Mods to edit posts in general would be useful. Though I think there would have to be "Post Edited by MODERATOR'S NAME" somewhere.

Dead topics last more than 30 days, maybe 45-60. I always find one or two good posts that I want to reply too, just because they're valuable, or that person is still around and may respond.

I'd rather have the limit extended, then start a new post.

An option for the thread creator to put a mark on the thread title much like the ones in the Bugs Reports section that say [Confirmed] and [Rejected], but which would say [Question Answered] or something.
That way, when you make a thread, and it gets answered mabey after about 20 posts, you can display the [Q Answered] tag so other forum browser's don't go into the thread and read it all just to see at the very end there is a post that says "Don't worry, Ive figured it out, i left this out all along" etc.

Thanks for allowing us to put forward ideas for the forum Rich, champion effort that.

Rich, we need some way for the mods to re-open an 30+day old thread, otherwise we will be unable to update the bug forum with comments on the existing bug reports when the updates come along.

The thread subject search shall have these checkboxes :
"only in Teachers Forum" or "in all forums"
"Only in DarkBASIC Discussion" or "in all forums"

And beeing able to delete his own posts (added to the edit button)

You know how the new un-read messages are blue? when you look at the first page of a thread, it "de-blues" all of the messages on the other pages.
Make it so that it only "de-blues" then first/whatever page you read

I'd really like a 'request code help' forum and a 'TPC' forum. It'd make some things much clearer. With a 'request code help', people wouldn't have to be confused as to whether to put a question about code in the DBP discussion forum, the 3d forum, or the 2d forum

Agreed. Sometimes I jump to the wrong page and it unblues the last unread post without me ever seeing it.

I think a better 'Enquiry' tracker system would be great. At the moment it just tells how many enquiries are in the queue, it doesn't give any idea of how far into the queue your enquiry is. For instance, the first day there was 32 enquiries, second there was 46 and today there are 53. This doesn't really give me much of an idea of how many are being answered and how many are being added to the queue.

A possible solution (if there's an order the enquiries are answerd in) would be to list how many there are before my enquiry. Or at least the rate at which the enquiries are being answered.

If it's a hit counter, it's not veryt accurate. I've clicked refresh twice - the first time it jumped by 3, the second it jumped by 6

I guess that's because other users may have clicked refresh or hit the site otherwise during that time.

not a very good hits counter then... as it counts all of the posts and such. Should be a hit when an ip first comes onto the site, not every action else a single user can wrack up alot more hits than others making someone who looks at hits believe that thousands visit rather than 100 that are just very active.

hmmm. how about a music board - i mean we have a 2d board and a 3d board - how about music too? Many people lack decent music in their game, and on a music board they could get info about music making etc.

The "hit counter" (ick) was added because Rick asked for it to see what sort of stats it would generate in the bCentral system we used. We've since removed it, only needed it on there for a week. Incidently Raven - it's *impossible* to know who is unique on a site and you cannot rely on their IP address, it's folly to do so.

The counter was counting page views spread across the day, which is all we needed to know. FYI we've 40,000 page views per day at the moment. That's (on average) 27 per minute, so yes it's very likely the counter would have appeared to jump in stages of 3 or more

Well, personally, though it isnt a feature, that you would clean out the code base. There are some pretty unnecessary snippets in there (Hello World, and one advertising a website for goodness sakes:



)

Please clean up the codebase, quite a few unneeded snippets (if snippets at all) in there.
