I'd like to see the Back button, and thread pull down bar on the bottom of the screen. I like it on the top, but having both would be nice.

Scrolling all the way back to the top on a long thread is a pain.

I think a little events thing to tell you if there's a compitition happening or something. And people can send requests and put their own events. Like the newsletter, but breifer.

You know TGC selling games would be interesting. If they sold a game they made in DB, it'd be proof of the power of their product.

In fact, they wouldn't even have to sell it, they could give it away.

You either didn't read that page or you missed the big fat text that said:

Trouble is, there are hundreds of other sites selling games, but very few selling game creation utilities. Therefore it makes more sense for TGC to focus their efforts here.

Why sell games when Amazon can sell pro ones - Garage Games, Binary People etc. can sell amateur ones.

BlueGUI:Windows UI Plugin - All the power of the windows interface in your DBPro games. - Plus URL download, win dialogs.

Heres some new ones that I thought up

1) Only a certain amount of threads started by you on the first page of any 1 forum NOT counting sticky threads. If a user wants his/her thread deleted, the user can check a delete post box and their thread will be deleted if they want to start a new one. Under each forum description it would say how many threads can be on the first page by you. For instance, team request might be 1 (you can edit your posts remember...) and general might be 3.

bad idea, rpgamer, remember, if people can't post in one place, they'll find somewhere else to post How about upholding the spamming rules instead
(implying that they'll take over a thread or post in the wrong section)

I came here looking to see if a 'my recent posts' idea has been requested, and it has, so I'm satisfied

how about a button under every post that says "report this post to a mod" that way people dont have to spam someone to get a mod on them, you just click the button and it sends the post to the mods and gives them teh link to it

I think there sould be a symbol for if there's media present on the post. So you can tell if the post is some guy with a game idea he got while turning on his computer(three seconds ago) and someone who put some work into the post and has some info.

While I understand what you mean Manticore Night, I just don't think it's reasonable to happen for 2 reasons.

1.) How will you tell if there's media? Would a mod mark it? Would it just scan the post for url's and img tags? Would it then ignore the sig?

2.) Scanning posts for media might slow the server down.
a.) If it was only scanned once it'd still slow the server down, and what if they added media in later?

Just my thought, but still a good suggustion. People will just have to put +screenshots or +demo at the end of the thread name.

I think if we get a sort of 'kudos' system, this should apply to team requests.

You can only post a team request if you have above a certain amount of kudos (to show that you can do stuff)
You have been a member for longer then X days (a week?)
You have more then X Posts (not many, like 20)

If they dont have these requirements, the team request is automatically locked and mods can read it. If the mod sees it as a good team request they can unlock (approve) it.

I would suggest a list of all users, where you have some buttons for each user :
- skill button (where you can see if he can programm, model, etc)
- WIP button (where you can see the works he is doing right now, and people could add comments, like in a forum. It should be limited to 3 WIP per person. When it's finished, you can delete it to start a new)
- Team request button (one one per person, where you can create Team requests. And people should be able to get their comments in there)
- Profile button, where you can see the usual profile

- Stand clear of the closing doors -

I think mods should have more power.

-See deletd posts/threads
-Move threads
-Temporary block (You can have a user blocked for a day, to do this more then once you may have to consult Rich or Lee)

I agree with X-more power to the Mods. I've never seen a mod abuse his/her power (are there any female mods? I know i havn't met them all...) so it might be worth considering.

Another Mod power:

-Edit titles
Originally I was thinking of suggesting to have that as a normal power, but decided to post it as a mod power because some SOBs would abuse it and edit the title a thousand times to confuse people.

Maybe also a code to display the time. I don't knwow hat that would be in php, but in javascript:

I think we should have a system where people can award "Skill points" NOT KUDOS each other, so if someone shows everyone a good model he gets a +1 to his "Model Point Count".

This could then be used to rate whether someone is elligable to post in the team requests board. We could also have a star system under everyone's names like:

Ability
Skills

DB Codeing
*****

Low poly Modeling
**

High Poly Modeling
***

2D Texturing
**

I don't! No offence, but that may cause a lot of problems, Newbs will continually ask what are those numbers, even though Rich will probably annunce the system, mods can't check every post, if they themselves can grant themself the point, then they may just post bs and grant themself the point, if someone else can, then they may just help out their friends, etc.

Who decides what's a good model? Unfortuantly, I don't really need to tell me if my work is good or bad. No matter how many *'s you have, you can still make a good model.

I suppose it'd be useful for recruiting team members, yet it's easier to just show work rather than a new rating system.

That would mean it would have to upload the file to the server which for all they know could be a huge filesize, and when you have a lot of people uploading all their own avatars it uses up a lot of space very quickly.

My suggustion:

Threads either...

a.) Last 60 days rather than 30.
b.) Users can request to revive thread by a submit button. Then the mods/admin will get something in there profile(or maybe an inbox) telling which thread has been reported that will need to be revived and they can evaluate whether it's worth it.

I'm just kicking myself at the moment for not being able to revive to valuable threads.

I think that under the name you should be able to select your main ability so it could be programing for instance and you get a star grade for that. You have to send your details to a mod with like a certain test to prove that you are competent in that area. So if you made a pong game 1 star. You made a full FPS 5 stars etc. Also i think the mods should be able to award points for how helpful you are. eg Helped a newbie figure out a problem with code- so many points etc.

Code Monkey Michael Eddie, that is some kind of kudos-system and will surely not be accepted. But I think that some icons (that shows what you do) next to your name would be good :
- 3D modeler Icon
- 2D designer
- Programmer
- dll creator
- Sound-creator
- Music

- Mind the gap -

How about....

1)the icon in the POST MESSAGE BOX (I) is in italics.

2)you can have a traffic light by the username and if you are logged on its green if not red

Just to add to the confusion.

While that's a good idea, we already have the "users online" at the bottom of the forum. Perhaps we'd get rid of one or the other, or...

Add users browsing thread option. That way we can easily tell who's looking at our thread if we're awaiting a response. The names could be displayed at the top of the post in the left corner under the Top, Post, etc. buttons.

Lost in Thought - you can already do this (on the new build).

As for this traffic light thing - maybe. As lots of people just breeze on and off the forums really quickly I don't think it'll give an accurate representation of who is *actually* online, but we'll see.

Cheers,
